Lindsey Wixson Covers Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2017

Hey peeps. I have the very first magazine cover for the month of May. The lovely Lindsey Wixson covers Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2017 issue, wearing Valentino. This newsstand cover shot by Erik Madigan Heck, is all shades of beautiful!

Lindsey Wixson is a 22-year-old American fashion model, known for her unique looks, defined in part by her “bee-stung lips”, “rosebud pout”, and gapped front teeth. I really like the cover. I think the powers that be picked the right cover girl. Her face is like a breath of fresh air, which is fab!

This May issue cover is very different in a good way. It would definitely stand out on the newsstands for all the right reasons. Wixson’s makeup is nicely done and the cover is very colourful, which is great for the spring season.

The photography game here is so tight, the photos are giving me life. But I wasn’t expecting anything less from Harper’s Bazaar and Erik Madigan Heck. They are the real deal.

I really like the subscribers’ cover too. I think it is also really beautiful, but I prefer the newsstands cover. I will be reading this issue if I come across it but I don’t see myself buying a copy. It does look great, and I may have both it just for the pictures, but I am not so sure I would like the content.

What are your thoughts? Which cover do you prefer? Will you be reading this issue? Please sound off in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading, commenting and sharing. Have a lovely day.

My Experience of Mobile Working

I started Fashion and Style Police in 2012, but I still held my full-time job working as a customer service advisor for a big multinational in Manchester. The job looked liked the best thing ever but the reality of it was that I hated it and I hated working there, so I focused on building my blog alongside a regular paycheck. This was a good idea because I made less than £100 in my first blogging year. Leaving the security of a regular paycheck then because I was frustrated with my job would have been very stupid.

After blogging for a year, I went on maternity leave and I never looked back. I knew I was never going to step into that office as an employee again. I knew there was something bigger and better for me, but I just didn’t know what it would be. Definitely didn’t think it was going to be blogging or working as a freelancer. I didn’t honestly believe I could start earning a full-time wage from my online hustle, but then I started to eventually.

While on maternity, I put all my leftover energy from caring for my twins into my blog. So while they slept in the day, I ignored the books that told me to sleep too (this is not advisable), and hustled like mad. My twins are over 3 years old now, and Fashion and Style Police has grown and it is still growing like weed. I have also gone into freelance writing and outreach for companies, and it has been a great experience so far!

Working for myself has its pros and cons as expected. I written about this a few times already; I even had a proper moan about it some days ago in The Ugly Side of Freelancing post. But 1 thing is for sure, I would not change my mobile working conditions for anything! The fact that I can decide to work 1am or 1pm from my sofa or bed is amazing. Mobile working is the best thing ever since WiFi!

However, one of the main issues that concerns me as a freelancer is the fact that I could lose all my work if anything ever happened to my laptop, camera or mobile phone. I carry my iPhone with me everywhere, and I am usually with my camera and laptop when we go on holiday, so I need to ensure my work stays stay. Also, we all know how easy it is to have gadgets stolen when we are out and about, and how easy it is to have our laptop or phone flooded with coffee. Well, this is where InMyBag comes in. This company is like the Messiah for us mobile people.

InMyBag can cover your mobile devices from loss, theft and damage so you can carry as normal. They guarantee same day resolution which is fantastic, and you can enjoy the same service abroad as you would do at home for up to three months a year.

This is 1 service I see myself forever having as a freelancer. I think it is smart to have a cover like this as a freelancer because you never know.

Do you have your mobile devices insured?

Spring/Summer Menswear Ideas

I know many men do not really enjoy shopping. Well not like we ladies do anyway. Many of us can easily spend the entire day shopping, if possible, but that is usually not the case with the men. They usually know what they want, and go straight for it. Unlike us women, who can spend the whole day window shopping and trying out various pieces and accessories, only to end up buying nothing, lol. And that is one of the reasons why online shopping is very popular with the gents.

The men I know in real life do not enjoy shopping around but they enjoy rocking stylish pieces like these shirts here from Jacamo Website. One thing I like about the Jacamo Website is the fact that I can shop pieces from various brands. It saves me the time spent going from 1 website to the other, and it also saves money on the delivery costs as the pieces are just from 1 store.

Here are a few menswear pieces that have recently caught my eye. There are all from 3 different brands, and I think they look trendy.

Timberland Millers River Pique Stripe Polo

This is one polo shirt that should be in every man’s wardrobe this spring/summer. I think it is really stylish, and I love the fact that it is made with quality pique cotton fabric. This piece would be a fantastic wardrobe addition this season. I think it is a beauty and it definitely screams QUALITY! It would look great on a pair of jeans.

Flintoff by Jacamo Chambray Shirt Long

I love anything denim, so as expected, this Chambray Shirt caught my eye immediately. I think it looks great, and so bang on trend. It would look amazing paired with a black pair of jeans and some white trainers.

Label J Print Sleeve Polo Long

This stylish print sleeve polo shirt from the Label J Collection, features short sleeves with a check pattern and contrast front and back. It is a perfect shirt to take you from day-to-night effortlessly, and would look stylish paired with almost anything.

What do you think of these pieces? Which is your favourite? Would you style your man in any of them?
