Charities of the month: IDAS and The Children’s Charity

Hello everyone! This month, Fashion and Style Police is featuring two amazing charities. Whoop whoop!!

IDAS

The first is IDAS; a domestic violence charity in Yorkshire. IDAS stands for Independent Domestic Abuse Services. The charity was set up in 1977 and previously known as York Women’s Aid. IDAS is one of the first refuge providers in the UK and it all started in 2 bedroom flat donated by a local businessman in 1977. The charity has grown over the years and it now also covers other areas outside York. IDAS is the largest specialist charity in Yorkshire and the charity supports victims of domestic violence and sexual violence.

IDAS is doing an amazing job. No one should have to any form of violence, so it is great to see a charity supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. You can support the charity by giving here. Donations go a long way in helping those who need a place safe away from violence. You can also look at supporting IDAS by getting involved in voluntary work.

The Children’s Society

The second charity of the month is The Children’s Society. It is a national charity working hard to transform the lives of young victims of abuse, exploitation and neglect. The charity has been around for over 140 years and won’t stop until every child’s hope is alive. I think The Children’s Society is an amazing charity doing great things for the next generation. The vision is a society built for every child and their goal is:

By 2030 we will have overturned the damaging decline in children’s well-being, setting a path for long lasting growth.

The Basics Of Building A More Spicy Wardrobe

*Collaborative post.

There are many ways you can change your wardrobe to fit your style – we all have a few separate shelves for our winter and summer looks! And if you want to start dressing a little more ‘spicy’, it’s time to update your clothing collection to really reflect how much you’re feeling yourself right now. But we need to start with the basics; otherwise, what are you going to build on? Here are a few tips for helping you curate a more spicy and sexy wardrobe selection for those special occasions.

Straps are a Great Start

If it’s strappy, it’s already got a lot of spice to it! After all, strappy shirts and vests and dresses allow us to really show off our top curves. They let us show off our shoulders and arms, which can then be dressed up with drop necklaces and lacey bangles to really bring the whole look together.

So make sure you’re shopping for spaghetti tops and long drop dresses – they’ll work as great foundations for further accessorizing. They’ll work as the base of the spicy looks you put together, which can also save you a lot of money as well.

Expand Your Lingerie Collection

When it comes to building a wardrobe that makes you feel sexy, what’s spicier than a bit of see through lingerie? If you’ve got a few sets that make you feel both bold and comfortable in your own skin, you’re going to feel so much more confident in your style choices, even if you’re just wearing the lingerie for yourself! Indeed, you’ve got to love your own curves before anyone else’s, and a good lingerie set will really help with that.

So how much lingerie should you own? The most basic types are Bikini and Bodysuit, so make sure you’ve got a couple different sets of those in your wardrobe. If you want to branch out a little more, invest in a Bustier or a Chemise, both of which can be incredibly comfortable to wear while still giving you plenty of support.

Show a Bit of Skin!

Also sometimes known as cut-out dresses, these types of dresses and bodysuits have ‘windows’ cut into them to allow you to show off the areas of your body you’re most comfortable with/proud of. Of course, depending on how much skin you want to show, you can go for quite a few different options here.

Maybe you just want to let your shoulders breathe? Or maybe you fancy having a connector ring between the top and bottom of the dress, allowing you to show off your midriff? And a good slit dress is always going to be a spicy sight! For example, a thigh slit can make you feel like a celeb on the red carpet, and you’ll feel very sexy on a night out when wearing one.

If you want to build a more spicy wardrobe, make sure you’re working from the ground up. Show some skin this season!

Loving Your Garden, For A Few More Weeks Of Summer

*Collaborative post.

We’re finally letting loose the bonds of lockdowns and for some of us at least, this has meant something of a relatively “normal” summer. (Whatever that means), and then just in time, we’re starting to cool down in time for the autumn and then the longer British winter sets in.  We hope that you’ve found ways to love and appreciate your garden during lockdown and to make sure that you squeeze the last precious few drops of summer from your garden, we’re going to take a look at a few cool ideas to help you do exactly that.

AUTUMN GARDEN PARTIES

Even as the warm and balmy summer days start to give way for shorter days and cooler nights, there are still some fabulous garden parties to be had.  If you’re thinking of doing some adult entertaining, then nighttime dinner parties or cocktail evenings are still perfect ways to live a little outdoors.  It’s not that cold yet and with some soft, fluffy blankets placed in easy to reach places, gorgeous garden lighting to create unique and interesting spots and a cocktail menu that features spicy concoctions, you can still squeeze some classy entertaining out of your garden.  If you’re planning on hosting a party with kids, then pick afternoons where there’s still a chance of some decent sunshine and playtime.

FEED THE BIRDS

It is easy to think that with the onset of the autumn that that means a solid goodbye to any animal life, but if you happen to live outside the cities and in more “towny” or rural locations, then this is a wonderful time to set up a bird feeder or two and start welcoming all sorts of birdsong into your garden in the mornings. You’ll catch some migrating birds and you might even spot a hedgehog or two.

FASHIONABLE THINGS

The change of season brings a change of style also and with longer nights and shorter days, you can start playing around with solar lanterns, hanging chairs and patio cushions made from textured fabrics that reflect the colours of autumn.  Rust, orange, dark red, brown and just a splash of white or blue will create focus points in your garden and invite quiet cuddles or solitary book reading moments.

PREPARING YOUR GARDEN FOR CHANGE

It is also time to prepare your garden for the seasonal change too.  Tidy up the hedges and get stuck into your lawn, rake away any leftover shrubbery or moss and start collecting falling leaves to make a leaf mould later on.  It’s also a good time to check all of your garden equipment and machinery before packing them away and if your machinery needs fixing, don’t put it off until next year, do it now.  So when you’re ready to reinvigorate your garden after the winter, you’ll be good to go.  Remember to check your mowers and other equipment for parts or broken accessories.  Mastercraft replacement parts are available from AppliancePartsPros.com.

We love our gardens in Britain and the change of season is no excuse to get lazy, there are still fabulous parties and get-togethers to be had and many wonderful memories, to be made.
