How to Fight Jet Lag

jet-lag-image

Travelling is fun and exciting. I love seeing new sights and learning about different cultures. But when you travel across several time zones, your body finds it difficult to immediately adjust. This leaves you feeling sleepy, experiencing loss of appetite or even feeling sick. This feeling is known as jet lag.

Jet Lag can make the whole travel experience exhausting. Hopping on a commercial flight can be really stressful, which is why private jets are so popular these days. Now the question is how much does a private jet cost to rent? If the cost were low, I would jump on one on my next flight to minimise jet lag.

Just the way you reset your watch to reflect the new time zones, your body also resets itself but not as easily as you reset your watch. Jet lag can be an extremely disturbing feeling. The good news is that there are ways you can minimize the effects of jet lag. It’s all a matter of being prepared and making the right choices.

1.    Make sure you’re fully rested before you travel
The first step to fighting jet lag is to have a good night’s sleep a day or two before you’re set to travel. The effects of jet lag are less for those who are well-rested before they travel. This is because adequate rest will help the body easily adjust to a change in time zone or withstand the effect it has on the body.
However, if you travel stressed out and sleep deprived then the jet lag will put undue strain on your whole system.

2.    Take the opportunity to nap on the plane
Jet lag first acts on your sleeping habits and make you feel tired. If it’s a really long flight, then make use of the opportunity to take a nap on the plane if you can. This will help your body reset better.

3.    Set your time and your mind to the one in the country you’re going to
This tip actually deals with the psychological effects of jet lag. When you’re travelling to a country with a different time zone, it’s only natural for us to think about what we would have been doing at that particular time in the country we’re travelling from and start comparing time zones.

This makes you less conscious about the time of the country you’re travelling to and your body will continue to live as if it were still in the country you’re travelling from. To solve this, you need to set your time and mind to the country you’re travelling to. This forces your body to adjust to its new time zone and living habits.

4.    Stay hydrated and exercise
Drink plenty of water while you’re travelling. Staying hydrated helps you effectively overcome jet lag. If you feel really sleepy after arrival, do some exercises to keep yourself awake. Exercise helps to fight jet lag and helps you stay agile.

5.    Once you arrive, don’t immediately go to sleep
This may sound really odd but you need to help your body adjust to the new time zone as much as possible. Forcing your body to stay awake until the local bed time will help your body reset faster. The only exception to this is if you arrive at your destination at night. If you arrive at night, you’re free to enjoy your beauty sleep.

My Disneyland Paris Experience

Disneyland Paris Picture

Have you ever visited a Disney theme park? I have. I visited the amazing Disneyland Paris a while ago, and it was an unforgettable experience. The experience has made me believe in the magic of Disney!

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first because it was quite pricey to get into, and we didn’t go with kids, and I thought Disney theme parks were only meant for groups with kids. I couldn’t think of what adults could be doing while the kids were having fun, but I am glad to say that is so far from the truth. Everyone can have fun in at a Disney theme park. I was like a kid in a candy store! There is something for everyone, and I saw many other groups without kids too.

I can’t wait to take the kids back to Disneyland Paris. I am sure they would love it. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are their favourite characters, so I am can clearly see they jumping and screaming for joy.

I know many families are sometimes a bit confused as to which Disney park to visit. Speaking from my experience, the Disneyland Paris exceeding every expectation. I had an amazing weekend exploring the entire park and I made sure I got on as many rides as I could.

As wonderful as the park is, it does come with a slightly heavy price tag as you can imagine. So if you are looking to save, look up My Voucher Codes for cool deals.

I know I will be visiting the park again with the family regardless of how expensive it will be. I think it is an amazing experience worth every penny. I also want to visit Disney World Florida. I have heard so many cool things about it. I hear it is a lot bigger than the park in Paris, so I would want to see it for myself. It is quite a distance, so maybe when the kids are a bit older.

If you are unsure of which Disney theme park to visit, as there are quite a few now, with a new one opened last month in Pudong, Shanghia, China, have a look at this Flux Magazine infographic. It illustrates the facts of each Disney theme park, so all answers to any question you may have should be on there.

Weekend in Amsterdam

Fashion and Style Police Blog Image

Fashion and Style Police is primarily a fashion and beauty blog, but with a bit of lifestyle thrown in for good measure. So you will be hearing about  a few things going on in my life sometimes. Last weekend, myself & the rest of the crew were in Amsterdam! It was a short but exciting trip. It was our first time visiting the beautiful city of Amsterdam, and I learnt quite a lot about their culture in our short trip.

The city of Amsterdam reminded me of Dusseldorf in Germany. I visited Dusseldorf some years ago, and the similrities in both cities is difficult to miss. However, I found Amsterdm more fast pace. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry on their bicycles. There were loads of them. The main city centre was always packed. It was impossible to get on a tram most times because they were usually filled. We found it easier to get into cabs, they were reasonably priced and the traffic was not a lot. I guess because everyone seems to be riding a bicycle without a helmet. Even the children riding along with their parents on the bikes didn’t have helmets on. I found it so dangerous and scary. Although bicycles have designated lanes, they move soooo fast, and ride really reckless with many of the riders texting and riding. I guess that explains why I saw 2 bike accidents happen in front of me on the same day. Thankfully no one was badly injured but the accidents confirmed my worries.

We did a lot of sight seeing. The weather was lovely, if not too lovely. Got on a boat cruise that took us round the city. I even had the luxury of spoiling myself at a Rituals Cosmetics store. I got a few sweet smelling things. I will be reviewing some of them soon. Overall I had a good time and I am looking forward to my next holiday already. I have a few planned for the next couple of months, and I really cannot wait!

If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen some pictures from the trip but if you missed them, go have a look.

Thanks for reading and have a fab day.
