Morning routine: What do you do with your first waking hour?

The first hour of the day is very important. It usually sets the pace for how the rest of the day will go. I like to wake up before the rest of the house gets up. It helps me have a full hour to myself and plan the rest of my day. Gone are the days when I have to drag myself out of bed. These days, I take charge of my day by going to bed a little earlier than I used to do and waking up an hour before the kiddies get out. Having that full hour gives me the time to meditate, pray, reflect, and listen to uplifting tracks and podcasts.

I also find some time to exercise later in the morning but that is after my first waking hour. Exercising in the morning helps me stay fit and healthy, plus it allows me get my energy levels up but I also try not to stress my body too much so I don’t have to deal with pains and aches. If you struggle with pains after exercising, Kratom for pain relief is a great natural painkiller you could try.

What do you do with your first waking hour? What does your morning routine look like?

Morning routine: What do you do with your first waking hour?

Waking up earlier than required allows you to spend the time doing what you need to do to start your day right. The first hour allows you to spend time on what matters to you and I get a lot done in that first waking hour. Everyone should have some sort of morning routine. The time you wake doesn’t really matter. It all depends on your lifestyle and household. I like to wake up for 6 am because that time works great. It allows me to get the right amount of sleep and wake earlier than the rest of the house, without feeling grumpy or tired.

This morning routine is a big thing for me. I was never a morning person until having the twins forced me to be a morning person. Even then, I was still very much a night owl until some months ago. These days, I like to be in bed before 11 pm,( most times I am in bed a lot earlier) and I have realised I am a lot happier. My morning routine keeps me energised and getting to sleep a lot more is great for my mental health.

Will you be shopping the high street?

The shops officially open today – 15th June 2020, here in the UK for non-essential shopping. Will you be shopping on the high street? I am not one to window shop so this question is very easy for me to answer. I won’t be shopping the high street but will carry on with my online shopping as usual. Going to the shops is always a drag for me, especially with the kiddies. I rather just shop online conveniently from the comfort of my home and online shopping is even more appealing in times like this when we are dealing with a pandemic.

The new COVID-19 guidelines for the shops opening have been announced. High street shops are expected to implement relevant hygiene and social distancing measures to protect customers and staff. Shops like Marks & Spencer and Ikea will be imposing restrictions on the number of customers in the stores, which is good to know. Clothes fitting and make-up section will not be available to customers, which is understandable. I never liked trying on clothes in stores, so I won’t miss that bit at all, but I know a good number of people will struggle with the fact that these facilities are no longer available for now.

Will it work?

It will be interesting to see how the first week of non-essential shopping goes. Will people go shopping or not? I wonder if the social distancing and relevant hygiene measures will be adhered to in the shops. This is all brand new and you never know how it will all look like in practice. I also wonder how the actual shopping will go. Will customers be allowed to touch the goods or not? I will be keeping my eyes open on social media to catch up on the news on that. Twitter is my favourite social media platform for anything newsworthy.

What is beauty really about?

There are so many articles and books about what beauty is and what makes us beautiful. Sometimes the tips and advice in these sources can be very conflicting, which ends us leaving us even more confused. What is beauty really about? To answer this question, I love John Kenneth Galbraith’s quote – There is certainly no absolute standard of beauty. That precisely is what makes its pursuit so interesting. There is no straight way of achieving beauty and there is no absolute standard of beauty. It is different for everyone, which is why we really should take these words of advice with a pinch of salt and work out which of the tips work for us.

Dealing with a bad day image

Every woman has her own beauty and I believe every woman is her own version of beautiful. I love the saying – Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. We really should remember that when we look at these fancy magazines with models wearing perfect makeup.

Here are 2 ideas of what beauty is really about –

Being happy in yourself

Being happy in yourself is one of the most important beauty tips anyone could ever give. It can be tricky sometimes but being really happy is the most important beauty advice of all. Do whatever makes you happy in yourself.

Accepting your features

Embrace all that makes you you. Accept your features, fall in love with each and every one of them. Get to know them, get to understand how to work with them.

Living is more enjoyable than appearing

There is a lot more to a beautiful face. It pays to have an attractive face and I am not playing it down in anyway. However, I am usually more interested in the person behind the face. There is a lot more to a pretty face. As cliche as it sounds, beauty comes from within, living is way more enjoyable than appearing, so we should remember to live and not focus on just looking the part.

The luxury skincare and makeup products will not make you as attractive as you think if you are ugly on the inside. They may do little or nothing if that is all you are focusing on. It is easy to get obsessed with our looks, but we should remember not to neglect other parts that make us who we are. Which is why we should focus on our inside as much as we focus on our outside. Beauty is only skin deep, but real ugly goes clear to the bone.
