Product Review: Boots No 7 & Vichy Laboratories

I have been in search for a fabulous body oil since I ran out of my Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour All-over Miracle Oil. I came across this Vichy Laboratories Ideal Body Oil while browsing online and decided to give it a try. I like to have many lip balms around during the autumn/winter months, so I also got the Boots Essentials Strawberry Lipsalve. And I needed a different exfoliator; after using my Clean and Clear for Donkey Years, I needed a change. So I went for the No 7 Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator.

The unique combination offers smoothing and nourishing properties and combines 10 luxurious oils extracted from: Apricot kernel, Passionflower, Corn, Rice Bran, Sunflower, Blackcurrant Pips, Rosehip, Coriander, Macadamia and Jojoba oils.

Here are my thoughts on this body oil:

PROS

  1. I love the packaging and the rich gold colour.
  2. It has a subtle scent which I love.
  3. It is great for sensitive skin.
  4. No parabens.
  5. It is a dry texture so not too oily, which is great for my combination skin.
  6. It nourishes my skin.
  7. It leaves my skin feeling and looking smooth and soft.
  8. It can be used all over the body, including on the hair.

CONS

None

This is my first time trying a Vichy product and I am very impressed with this body oil. I will be buying it again and I recommend it to anyone in need of a rich body oil. This Vichy Laboratories Ideal Body Oil is what you need. It currently retails for £22 per 100ml at Boots and many other stores.

No 7 Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator

This is a new product from the No 7 range so there is no product description on the website yet. Here are my thoughts on it:

PROS

  1. It exfoliates my skin beautifully, getting rid of all the dead skin cells, leaving it soft and smooth
  2. I like the combat packaging. Great to take along on holiday.
  3. At £8.50, it is good value for money.
  4. It is easy to apply and wash off.

CONS

  1. No waiting time instructions on the pack. So I leave mine on for about 5 minutes, but it would be great to know the recommended application and waiting time.
  2. It does the work but I expected a lot more from it. Maybe because I was blown away by the No 7 products I tried the other day. I expected this to be as fab as they are.

It is a good product but I won’t be buying it again. I am still in search for the perfect exfoliator, so let me know if you have any in mind.

Keep your lips looking hydrated and luscious with Boots Essentials Lip Balm Strawberry.

Dermatologically tested.

PROS

  1. I like the pretty pink packaging.
  2. It is easy to carry around.
  3. It is very cheap – £1.
  4. I like the fact that it is in form of a lipstick.
CONS
  1. I don’t like the smell of this lip balm at all.
  2. It does not nourish my lips properly. I have to apply loads on my lips to get them moisturised.
  3. It breaks easily, making a mess.

I won’t be buying this lip balm again and I do not recommend.

Caring for your Skin this Autumn/Winter

Our skin reacts differently to different weather conditions. As we’re transitioning from summer to autumn and winter, you will experience some changes in our skin.

Summer is loved by many with the bright sunny long days, but the harsh sun rays can take a serious toll on our skin. So autumn and winter should be spent remedying the harm the summer weather has caused to our skin.

During the autumn and winter season, the chilly dry weather can cause our skin to dry out due to lack of moisture in the air. If not treated soon enough, your skin will start to crack or grow flaky or even become red or irritated. To avoid this skin issue, we need to pay special attention to our skin during the autumn/winter months, especially if you have a dry season.

These simple steps will help keep your skin protected from the autumn and winter weather, and heal the damage caused by the summer.

  1. Gently exfoliate your skin

Do not underestimate the power of exfoliating, Exfoliation is a very important part of any skin care routine. It helps remove dead skin cells and leaves the face feeling and looking very smooth. I think one of the best parts about exfoliation is that it helps to prepare the skin to easily absorb the benefit from moisturizers or creams.

There are various exfoliators for different skin types so shop around for the best product for your skin. If you have a dry skin, opt for an oil-based scrub. It will help to gently exfoliate your skin and supply it with the needed moisture at the same time. At the moment, I use Clean and Clear Daily Facial Scrub to exfoliate but I have recently bought a No 7 scrub so look out for the review.

  1. Cleanse your skin

Start off by gently yet thoroughly cleansing your skin. For autumn, you skin care routine will involve more moisturizing to help keep your skin hydrated. Also ensure the moisture gets locked in so the skin doesn’t dry out. I use this fab face wash by Premae Skincare and it is the truth. It wipes every trance of makeup off.

  1. Moisturize

Moisturizers will help keep your skin hydrated, soft and supple. To boost your moisturizer level, go for creams or serums instead of lotions. They are thicker and this forms a more protective barrier on your skin. They will also help prevent your skin from losing water. I am currently loving my No 7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Radiance Boost for All Skin Type. It is the best serum I have ever used.

Apart from moisturizing the face, we also need to remember to moisturize our hands with a good hand cream to prevent cracked, dry and flaky hands. Hello soft hands for that gentle touch!

Another part of our body that will need some TLC are our lips. My lips get so dry during the autumn/winter season so I apply a non-petroleum-based lip balm for better results.

How do you take care of your skin in the autumn/winter months?

The British model; Lily Donaldson is the Beauty Muse of the week and she has some of the most amazing features I have ever seen. I love Lily Donaldson’s face. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world today and is definitely my Beauty Muse. Her makeup is always flawless and her melancholy ‘sad’ facial expression works for her, but she also has an amazing smile.
