Why I Read Over 20 Blog Posts Every Day

I love reading. It is one hobby I truly enjoy, and as a Blogger and Freelance PR Consultant, I have to read as many blog posts as possible every day. Reading and writing is second nature to me, which is great because my job relies on it! So if I am not able to put on my Kindle because of a busy schedule, I can guarantee I would be able to read some blog posts during the day.

I read over 20 blog posts a day because there are so many amazing blogs around these days, it is so easy to read as many. I also comment on as many blog posts as I can.

Many bloggers underestimate the power of the blogosphere, and just instead stay busy publishing post after post on their blog without reading other blogs, which I find very funny. Except you are in the Mega Blogger Category (Is there such a category?), you should be reaching out to as many bloggers as possible, because the blogosphere world is really small, especially in the UK. We all need each other in a way.

The power of commenting on blogs is so underrated, that many bloggers don’t know the value of it. Apart from the fact that you are reading and gaining knowledge, you leaving a quality comment would probably put a smile on the blogger’s face, it would lead some traffic to your blog, which may lead to you having some loyal blog followers, brands/PRs could find your blog from a comment left on another blog, and so on. The benefits of reading and commenting on blogs you enjoy are too many to list.

I enjoy reading a variety of blogs from fashion and beauty, to lifestyle and even parenting. I also enjoy scrolling through food blogs. They usually make my mouth water and leave me hungry, but I gain so many recipe ideas from them, so I can’t be without reading them.

What sort of blogs do you enjoy reading?

Why You Should Run a Blogger Outreach Campaign

Black Dress Picture

As some of you may already know, I provide Digital PR and Blogger Outreach services to brands, as well as freelance writing and full-time blogging. I have met and worked with so many cool brands, as well as bloggers. And many of the brands have stayed on as regular clients. But I have also met many brands that do not understand the value of bloggers and what we can bring to the table. So this post is for them.

Majority of the bloggers I know and follow, are super creative and dedicated to their blogs. They churn out many well written and engaging posts every week, that strikes a chord in the hearts of their readers. Their blogs are the best platforms to showcase  products and services. Especially if it is a new business, or a not so popular brand. Investing in bloggers is the best thing you can do for your business, and I will tell you why:

People relate with bloggers

Their blog posts are word of mouth referrals and they are what people want to read and see these days. I will believe a review on a blog, than in a magazine. I don’t watch ads on TV, that is what the rewind button is for. And I don’t pay attention to ads in magazines and newspapers when I do read them, because they are just way too many and I can’t relate with them anyway. But I read hundreds of blogs each week. I comment on hundreds of blogs each week.

Bloggers are story tellers, and people relate with stories, written by real life people. Unlike outright adverts the public just consumes. Setting out a budget for a blogger outreach campaign should take priority over any other advertising budget.

Value for Money

You get value for money when you invest in a blogger outreach. Whether you send out products for review, or you pay bloggers for sponsored posts or tweets. As long as you target the right bloggers in your niche, you will get return on investment. Where, brand get it wrong is where they target blogs that do not have much to offer in terms of traffic, followers and quality, or target blogs that are not relevant to their niche. Once you employ the right outreach person (ME), then you can be rest assured your campaign is in good hands.

Still on value, once a blog post is on a blog, depending on arrangement, it can be on there for as long as the blog remains online. So millions and millions of people will come across the blog post and your brand at some point. Unlike other forms of advertisement that lasts only for a limited period of time. How many people read old newspapers or old magazines? Not many, if any.

I know many business owners are obsessed with getting featured on the mega big blogs and magazines. But there are high quality medium-sized bloggers that will give you a better return on investment, if you get the right hands to find these blogs.

I also know of brands that look down on bloggers, and can’t see the value in them. Well, blogs are like reality TV shows, Hollywood looks down on. The beauty in similarities of both blogs and reality TV shows is that they are here to stay.

What are your thoughts on the blogger – brand relationship?

My Hustle: A Day In The Life Of A Full Time Blogger/Freelance Writer

Being able to write full-time and earn a living wage has become a dream come true. After having my kids, I wanted to have time for them and working from home has given me the opportunity. Many people wonder how I cope with running a regularly updated blog, a freelance career and caring for my busy toddlers. Sometimes, I wonder as well, but all I can say is, you make time to do what you care about, what you have a passion for. It could be hanging out with friends, watching movies, going to the pub, sleeping, or even playing games. I spend my time when my kids are not turning the house upside down writing. I write every free time I get, and when I am not writing, I am thinking of writing. It is a good obsession and I am in love with it.

So many people ask me how I do it, so this post answers the million dollar question. How does Stella run Fashion and Style Police. Here is how, a typical day in my life is as a full-time blogger and freelance writer. For this post, we are going to imagine the day is today, a Saturday.

Fashion Blogger

6:00am

I am usually woken up by one of the busy bees in this hour. I have my quiet time and start the day right.

7:00am

I have a shower, and get dressed. I publish a blog post and share it on my social media channels.

8:00am

Breakfast time, and reply emails or read a book if I am in the middle of one. I love multitasking, can you tell?

9:00am

I check blog stats, moderate and reply blog comments, and wait for my postman to deliver any samples.

10:00am

Take pictures of samples, and get all the details down on paper. I go through my To-Do list and make sure I know what needs to be done for the day.

Get dressed and take an outfit picture if the weather is right.

Midnight

Bedtime.

So that is how a typical day in my life looks like. My day could vary from time to time depending on deadlines, volume of work, what is going on in my home and so on, but it is usually the same routine everyday. As you can see, my life is far from a walk in the park. I am always on one of many gadgets doing a blog related ‘thing’. No hour goes unaccounted for. The moment I began to see my blog as a business, I saw my luck change. The more work I put in, the more sponsorship I got. The hustle is real and it comes with a lot of hard work. I hardly have time to watch TV, not to talk of having a social life but I won’t have it any other way.

I hope this motivates you to make the most of your free time and chase your dreams. Who knows where it might take you.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely weekend.
