Style Icon: Leandra Medine – The Man Repeller

The stylish and quirky 27-year-old author and fashion blogger, Leandra Medine is the style icon today. For those who do not know, Leandra is the brain behind the American fashion blog – Man Repeller, a blog famous for documenting outfits women love to wear, and men love to hate. Leandra is known for her take no prisoners style, and the fact that she dresses for herself, and not for men or anyone else. In her words, she choose fashion over men, and she started her blog to showcase her style:

“There is a story that I’ve told a million times about being in Topshop with a close friend of mine, and I was complaining about the state of my love life and she essentially said, ‘Of course nobody wants to date you, you don’t dress for men,’ and it was sort of this really empowering moment for me where I was like, oh my gosh, I’m single by choice because I’m choosing fashion over the men. That’s when I started the blog.”

I first noticed Leandra’s style in 2013 when I set up Fashion and Style Police. She was one of the few fashion bloggers that caught my eye, and I have since been intrigued by her sense of style, and her writing. If you are having a bad day, just head over to her blog, you are sure to find various light-hearted posts to put you in a better mood.

I don’t think I will look half as good as she does, rocking most of her pieces, but I think it all boils down to self-confidence, which she has a lot of. For you to have a true personal style, you have to sort the confidence bit first. Leandra Medine can look good in anything because she CAN. I would want to be like how when I grow up, but then again, I am older than her, so I guessed I am grown up right?

OOTD: I Can Smell Spring

Spring Outfit Image

A change in season is always a big deal, as far as fashion is concerned, because we fashion lovers get to rearrange our wardrobe and usher in pieces for the new season. I love spring because it has the perfect temperature, not too warm or too cold, but it is the endless rain that comes along with it, I don’t like too much. I also love the fact that I can still layer up light pieces in spring. This weather makes styling outfits a lot of fun.

This black dress by Accessorise is a lovely addition to my spring wardrobe. It is a Lace Insert Tassel Maxi Dress and it is my only maxi dress at the moment, not had one in ages. This versatile piece is the perfect maxi dress. It creates an effortlessly chic look, and the elasticated waistband with adjustable tasselled ties, means the sizing is quite flexible too, which is great for petite ladies.

I love the fact that this piece is so easy to style up with a jacket and high heels like I have done here, or dress down with flats for a walk on a beach.

Speaking of beaches, I am badly in need of a proper holiday. It feels like I havn’t had one in ages. In an ideal situation, I would want to visit Dubai again. I visited the beautiful country some years ago and it was the best holiday I ever had, followed closely by my Miami holiday. The issue is, flights are so expensive these days, it is almost impossible to go away nice, so I always end up visiting a country in EU, but let’s see how it goes, fingers and toes crossed. Do you have any holidays planned for the year? Where are you off to?

Nightwear Wishlist March 2016

Nightwear Wishlist March 2016

I take my nightwears very seriously and I like to have quite a couple of them. Currently I have about 4 autumn/winter nightwears, and 6 spring/summer nightwears (yes, I have various nightwears for the seasons), and I will like to add some more to my collection because you never have too many nightwears right? I tend to go for pyjamas most of the time. I do have a few night dresses but I find my pyjamas a lot more comfortable.

I have my eye on quite a couple already and I am hoping to get lucky this month. Here they are:

Black Spade Long Sleeved Lace Trimmed Pyjama Set

Black Spade Pyjamas

This 2 piece purple pyjama long sleeve set by Black Spade is very lightweight and comfortable. It also comes in anthracite grey colour, if you prefer that.

I am sure I will have a good night sleep wearing this piece. The lace trim to the sleeves and neckline shows attention to detail. This is one stylish piece I am in love with this month. The quality is amazing, and it washes well too, which is great. You can grab this set for £32.

M&S Collection Pure Cotton 3/4 Sleeve Garland Heart Print Pyjamas

This is another stylish piece that has caught my eye. I like the colour and the heart printed pants a lot. It looks super comfy, and will hopefully wash well.

Lounge & Sleep – Black floral pyjama set

This stunning pyjama set will be a nice addition to my nightwear collection. It is great for the season as most nights and mornings are still painfully cold. I adore the colour and looks soft and comfy as well. The colourful floral print is giving me life!

Ann Summers Rabbit print two piece

I have had my eye on this beauty for ages now, and I am hoping I can get it now that it is on sale at House of Fraser. I love the grey colour, looks very comfortable.

Therapy Leopard Print Fleece PJ Set
