Style Icon: Quad Webb

The stylish Quad Webb is the style icon for the month of April. For those who don’t know who this fashion queen is, Quad Webb is an author, chef, entrepreneur, talk show host, known for featuring on the reality show – Married to Medicine. I think this style icon is one of the most stylish women on the reality show. She always looks great and I really the pieces and accessories I see her rocking. Quad Webb knows the power of style and she makes a statement every time.  That is why she is the Style Icon of the month on Fashion and Style Police.

Married to Medicine

I was not a huge fan of Quad as a full cast member on Married to Medicine. I found her very dramatic and annoying but I must confess I kind of miss seeing her regularly on the show now that she is only featuring as a friend of the show. She definitely made the show a lot more interesting. I miss her entertaining scenes and seeing her and Greg together. It is a shame they couldn’t get along.

The white piece Quad Webb has on above is a beautiful. It looks amazing on her. I love the accessories she has on as well. They really complement the outfit and her makeup is simply flawless. Do you agree?

This black outfit here is another piece that looks fantastic on Ms Quad. I love the fact that it is all black and sparkly. The makeup and hair look fab. Her entire look is on point. I am loving it. This style icon is one woman that looks great in all black or all white. She makes style look so effortless. What do you think of this look?

Which of Quad’s looks do you prefer? The white or the black? Do you watch Married to Medicine? Who is your favourite cast member?

What is fashion and am I fashionable?

What is fashion? That can be defined in many different ways. I see fashion as modern/change, which isn’t surprising as the French word for fashion is La Mo, which is the short form of la modernité, which also means modernity. Fashion is what we see on the high street, the fashion magazines, the top designer stores, and on the runaway. It changes every season and to stay on top of fashion means to literally keep updating your wardrobe with every new collection that pops up. How possible is that especially now with all that we have going on?

Are we supposed to focus on fashion or style?

To be honest, I have never really been fashionable. Instead, I prefer having a capsule wardrobe that shows off my personal style. I stick to my personal style and not to the dictates of the never-ending fashion industry. Like many things, it takes a while to find your sweet spot but you know it once you find it. Being fashionable will clearly put many of us in debt, struggling to keep up with credit card payments and even store card payments. It amazes me every time when I am offered a store card for a fashion store. Why would I want to buy clothes on credit only for them to be out of season in a few months? That makes no sense. Now don’t get me wrong, I love looking good and I like to invest in my clothing and accessories, so I don’t have to keep shopping every few months. I also love spoiling myself and I have a lovely closet with more items I can count but I only shop for things I need. Going along with what is considered fashionable would be a waste.

How do you see fashion?

According to the editorial policy of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture on Fashion History Love to Know Website, fashion is defined as “the cultural construction of the embodied identity.” Do you agree with this definition? How do you see fashion and would you call yourself fashionable?

What will become of fashion blogs

CoronaVirus has completely changed the world. The fashion industry is one of the main industries affected by COVID-19 pandemic. For now, gone are the days of fashion shows, and even shopping on the high street isn’t for everyone with the new rules and regulations. Plus, with the current state of the economy, going on a shopping spree is probably the last thing on many people’s minds. Shopping is now down to necessity rather than a luxury. Which makes me wonder what will become of fashion blogs in these uncertain times.

The high street is disappearing.

Many high street giants are closing shops in many locations all over the world. Our local Dorothy Perkins recently announced they were closing down the store for good after 30 years of being in town. Debenhams, M&S, and many more have announced job cuts and store closures all over the UK. The current state of events makes me wonder what will become of fashion blogs. If stores are closing down and people are losing jobs, will showcasing new pieces/accessories make sense? What will happen to blogs and websites that only feature personal style posts?

The pandemic is definitely going to affect every content creator. Let’s face it; life has changed and adjustments have to be made. The UK is officially now in a recession. Many people are now more interested in content that would help them, rather than simply entertain them.

Blog how you want!

At the end of the day, our blogs and social media platforms are our little corners on the internet. There is the freedom to create whatever and whenever you want as long as it is legal. I won’t share certain content on here because of what is going on in the world. My approach to blogging has changed over the years, and me having a lifestyle blog allows me to write about whatever I want to write about. I am thankful to have that creative freedom. If Fashion and Style Police stayed as a pure fashion blog like how it started, I would have been in a very bad situation now. I know some bloggers have had to sell their blogs which is sad. Luckily, I decided to go down the lifestyle blogging route within a few months of blogging.

What will become of fashion blogs?

I really don’t know. I stopped reading pure fashion blogs when I stopped blogging just fashion. Instagram seems to be the place for showcasing fashion and style, and I see more than enough on there. I wonder what will become of fashion blogs.
