OOTD: An Arabian Theme Outfit

Hey peeps. Another day, another outfit post. I promised this year would be a year of outfit posts on Fashion and Style Police, and so far, I am keeping to that promise. Say hello to the second outfit post of the year – An Arabian Theme Outfit.

I got this lovely kaftan in the Gold Souk (market) in Dubai some weeks ago, and I really like it. I wore this outfit to a birthday party the other day, and it felt good to stand out. I was as colourful as the venue; it was a play center in Essex.

I remember braving the cold for a few minutes to get this photos taken. It was freezing cold on that day with the fog and all, so I had to wear sensible shoes, and my gold old sneakers came to the rescue. I am not one to just take photos for the blog. What you see me rocking on here, is how I was dressed for the entire day.

I like my kaftans short. The long designs swallow my petite frame up most of the time, so I like to go for this length. I find them comfy and stylish.

I remember going round the Dubai market with my sister, in search of the right kaftans. Most of the designs out there were longer than I wanted, so it took me some time to find the styles I wanted.

It is all in the details for this beauty right here. I like the attention to the details on the kaftan. It stands out and I can see a lot of work went into it. I love it.

OOTD: Wedding Guest Outfit

You don’t want to know how old this dress I am wearing is, you really don’t. It is older than Fashion and Style Police (going to be 4 in October, whoop whoop), and it is older than many other pieces in my wardrobe. I was pleasantly surprised to see I could still fit right into it. Quality speaks without saying a word, and that is why I like to spend that bit extra on my pieces so they can last for as long as I need them to. I also take good care of my clothes as well, and I guess the extra care adds to the lifetime of the pieces.

I wore this outfit some days ago. I have a wedding to attend and I needed to shop my closet for wedding worthy pieces to style, so these pieces came to mind. The dress is an oldie as you all know by now, but the navy blue fascinator is not. It was sent some days ago, and I am happy to say I will be wearing it to the wedding. It is my first ever fascinator and I adore it. I also found it super comfy, I always thought fascinators would be uncomfortable because they do look like a bit of work to have on your head all day, but I found this so light and easy to wear.

The black bolero jacket is another newbie. I got it some days ago for the wedding and I am crazy in love with it as well. I love the sleeves, silk material and the fact that it is so dressy.

OOTD: Casual Day Wear Look

Casual Daywear Style Image

I like the casual day wear trend especially in the summer. Most times, I find it too warm to look all dressed up so I settle for the casual day wear look and it suits my lifestyle just fine. Here are some tips to have in mind when experimenting with the casual day wear look:

Go for Quality

I always go for quality but I pay special attention to my casual day wear pieces because I wear them a lot. Cheap fabrics will fall apart quickly in my hands so I go for the best I can afford every time.

Dresses at the Ready

A dress is  a great all-purpose, wear anywhere, anytime outfit, so invest wisely. Go for jersey fabrics, they drape beautifully, feel good and will flatter almost every figure.

Accessorise Smart

Don’t go overboard with big sparkly jewellery with casual day wear pieces. It would look too much. Keep the accessories small and understated so you look effortlessly chic. A simple scarf, sunglasses, a small bracelet or necklace would do if necessary.

Shop Smart

Don’t just buy clothes or accessories because you like them. Have a plan for every piece you buy. Make sure anything new fills a hole in your wardrobe, in this case, your casual day wear section. This wear you are building a capsule wardrobe, and you will never run out of what to wear.

Look Cool

Look cool, casual and trendy this summer by teaming a nice floral dress with flip-flops or sandals like I have done here. This look ensures you stay cool in the heat, and it is so easy to style. As long as your dress is groomed, this look works.

Go for a Perfect Fit

Casual day wear does not mean baggy or loose. Go for pieces that suit your body shape. If you rather have a track suit or an oversize top, ensure you balance the look with a pair of skinny jeans, a belt and heels.
