Summer Decorating Tips

Summer is a beautiful season. It’s one of my favourite seasons of the year. The holidays, jolly sunshine, the cheery mood and friendly warmth always makes me happy. I guess the lovely season has prompted this Summer Decorating Tips post.

Simple interior decorating tips can bring in any season you desire into your home or your office. The trick is to add little reminders of the season. For this post, I am focusing on the current summer season.

Here are some summer decorating tips that you can start implementing right away –

Flowers or Floral print pillows

What if your home had blooming flowers all the time? Having real life flowers is always charming, and it is one of the best ways to ensure your home decor is seasonal. Another easy way to bring the summer into your home is to get floral print pillows.

Such pillows are excellent as summer decor as the warm colours of summer brings in this feel of summer. Get floral pillows that have a mix of orange, yellow and warm red. Such colours are excellent for depicting the summer vibe.

Bring in ‘em stripes

Aside from flowers and floral prints, stripes make a good pattern to decorate the house with. Striped throw pillows, striped table cloths and even striped wallpaper create a very lovely summer mood. Unlike floral prints, stripes are quite sober yet fun.

Remember to create some contrast. If you’re going to have striped wallpaper then you don’t have to cover all 4 walls. Stick to half or just one side.

Shaded string lights

Summer is a season of fun, warmth and family gatherings. Shaded string lights that are arranged in the garden or on the porch bring about a very playful feel. Everywhere is kept bright as the warm light from the shaded string lights line the sitting area outside. This inspires family dinners in the garden, where you’ll enjoy nature and the beauty of summer night.

The best way to go about this is using a string of shaded lights and arranging them along a porch or over the length of a shade where you know you can set a table where people can seat around for dinner. That creates the perfect ambience for the summer season.

Rearrange the room to focus on the windows

Here is my last summer decorating tip. Rearrange the room to focus on the windows if you can. This allows for more light to flow in.

Homewear Wishlist 2016

Once upon a time, I used to be a homewear addict and I use to dream of becoming an interior designer. Can you imagine that? I even enrolled in an online course and all, I was that serious about it. That was many moons ago, I have since realised that although I like decorating my house, and do actually enjoy it, I didn’t want to be decorating other people’s houses, so that sent my dream of being an Interior Designer out of the window. Then I enrolled in London College of Style, and I found my calling, but not the stylist I was being trained to be, but as a fashion blogger, which led to the birth of Fashion and Style Police, which is now a mixture of fashion and beauty, and a bit of lifestyle.

Anyways back to the topic of the day, I am no longer a homewear addict, but I am still in recovery. However, every now and again, I like to buy fancy home stuff for the house, and you really cannot blame me because I am in this house 24/7 most weeks, blogging like there is no tomorrow.

At the moment, I have my eye on a few lovely home stuff, and I was also lucky enough to get some to review, so grab a cuppa, let me show off my new goodies, and some of the finer things I am lusting after for my home.

Wayfair Denim Duvet Set

This denim duvet set by Wayfair is a beauty to behold. I love the blue colour and the checked design. It is a perfect duvet set for my modern bedroom, the quality looks great and it is super affordable with prices starting from £12.99 for a single bed size.

200 Thread Count Deep Fitted Sheet by Belledorm

Deep-Fitted-Sheet-BPERCFT

I love all the colours in this Belledorm collection and I am proud to say I am the proud owner of a Duck Egg bedsheet and a Palma Violet bedsheet. There are fitted sheets, so they fit the mattresses properly, which is great, nothing I hate more than laying my bed once I get off it, but with fitted sheets, the sheets tend to stay on the mattress, so usually I just need to straightened. Prices are also great starting from £9.99, and there is a variety of colours, so finding the right bedding to complement your bedroom should be easy.

Krups NESCAFE Dolce Gusto ‘Oblo’ Coffee Capsule Machine

KRUPS Coffee Machine

I have always wanted to own a coffee machine for so long now, so I think I will be clearing a space for this on my kitchen work tops soon, hopefully it won’t be needing a lot of space. This was originally sold in Debenhams for £90 but it is now on sale for £45, so I think I will need to move quickly on this one.

Mongolian Faux Fur Cushion

My daughter is obsessed with anything pink at the moment, so this Mantalan cushion will be nice addition for the both of us. I love the fact that it is faux fur in bright pink, and it is super affordable at £8.

My Good Night Sleep Essentials

Every now and again, I like to write a lifestyle post that has nothing to do with fashion, beauty, or blogging.  Variety they say is the spice of life, and I like to keep Fashion and Style Police well varied, so we all don’t fall asleep, lol.  I enjoy writing about various topics, I find it refreshing, but I like to keep all the topics related somehow.

I am seriously looking forward to Summer. I am so sick and tired of winter. I know I have said that a billion and one times already, but it feels like it has been winter since forever. I am looking forward to some sunshine and longer days but I will miss layering. This winter has felt longer than normal and it is even getting colder here in Cheshire, so am wondering if it will ever end.

We will be looking at making some home improvements during the summer which I am very excited about. The home office is currently a dump site so that needs sorting out, because working on the sofa and on the bed is doing my back no good. Also, I need to look out for some cheap beds, we have two that need replacing, and we need some new beds for the kids as well, they are growing out of the beds faster than fast, so that needs sorting out too.

Also, need to update our bedding collection. I love a modern bedroom, the bedroom above is my ideal bedroom. I am loving the lamp on the bedside table and the sheets look amazing, bedroom goals right here.  I like my duvet covers when they are new, I mean, who doesn’t like new/clean sheets?

I value a good night sleep a lot.  I get really grumpy when I don’t get enough sleep. So having the room in the right temperature, a nice warm cup of milk or hot chocolate with right mattress, crisp bedding and some white noise for when the little people are awake is essential.

What are your good night sleep essentials? Do share.
