3 Amazing Benefits of Castor Oil

Castor Oil is a vegetable oil from the castor plant known as Ricinus communis, and it is pretty popular thanks to its excellent benefits. I have been using Castor Oil for a few years now, and I am still discovering the never-ending benefits of this rich oil. However, like with most things, I have discovered a little goes a long way when using Castor Oil as it is pretty rich and thick, you would only require a small amount each time you use it.

Clears Pigmentation Blemishes

A little layer of Castor Oil can help in clearing pigmentation blemishes. For easier application, you may find it easier to mix a drop or 2 of Castor Oil with your regular serum or moisturiser, and then apply it to the required areas. Like I said, a little goes a long way with this oil so start with a little amount and see how you get on.

Deeply Moisturises the Skin and Hair

Castor Oil contains Ricinoleic Acid and Omega-6 fatty acids which make it a great moisturising product. If you have very dry skin and hair, you may want to give this oil a chance, it may work great for you. Castor Oil is widely known to moisturise, hydrate and soothe the scalp and skin. I recommend mixing Castor Oil with other carrier oils like Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil, in equal parts when using on hair or skin.

Promotes Hair Growth

Apart from moisturising dry and damaged hair, Castor Oil also promotes hair growth by improving blood circulation to the scalp, thanks to its Ricinoleic Acid. Regular use of Castor Oil can prevent hair breakage and premature graying, promote hair growth, and improve hair texture.

I always have a bottle of Castor Oil in my bathroom cabinet. It is one of my favourite recent skincare discoveries, but I handle it with caution as it can have negative effects if used excessively or incorrectly. Some of these are sunken or hollow cheeks, sagging skin, and facial hair growth.

Always start with a patch test to ensure it is safe for you to apply on the required skin and hair areas and handle it with caution. Discontinue if you notice any negative side effects, and always go for cold-pressed organic Castor Oil, and start with a small amount.

What are your experiences with Castor Oil? Are you a fan?

Natural Body Oils for Dry Skin

I have been using natural body oils for many years and am glad they are now a main part of my skincare routine. Body oils are great substitutes for body creams and lotions. They are usually easily absorbed into the skin and leave it feeling smooth, soft, and moisturised. If you are dealing with dry skin and looking to add natural body oils to your skincare routine, here are some great ideas for you.

Castor Oil

I recently started using castor oil and I am blown by how amazing it is. This lovely natural oil can be used in a variety of ways. I usually add a few drops into my face cream and I also apply a bit directly to the required areas. Castor Oil can also be used as an all-round body oil. It contains Omega 6, Omega 9, and Antioxidants, which help the skin stay hydrated, soft, and smooth. Castor Oil is also rich in Vitamin E which is great for growing your eyelashes and eyebrows.

Here is a brand I have used before – Castor Oil.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is one of my favourite natural body oils. I also use this oil for my hair and it works. If you are new to the whole body oil routine, I would suggest you start off with a bottle of Liquid Fractionated Coconut Oil and see how you get on. Coconut Oils can be used in many different ways and they are easy to apply, but I would suggest you avoid applying this oil on your face as it is rich in saturated fatty acids, which may lead to facial skin problems like acne and all. Like with all skin problems, always test on a small section before a full application.

Jojoba Oil

If you are struggling with dry skin and you want your skin to glow, Jojoba Oil is a great natural oil to try out. It contains Vitamin E and Omega 9 fatty acids which help balance the skin’s sebum production, leaving the skin hydrated, moisturised, and healthy. I have used Jojoba Oils quite a lot, and my favourite is the Naissance Golden Jojoba Oil because it is natural, undiluted, not tested on animals, and easy to blend with other carrier and essential oils.

Almond Oil

This natural oil can be used on the skin, hair, and nails. Almond Oil is a great carrier oil for aromatherapy purposes. It can be used in many different ways. Sweet Almond Oil is a great option for anyone looking to incorporate this natural body oil into your daily skincare routine. It works so well on the skin and it can be used on all skin types.

How to make hand wash with essential oils

Have you been struggling to buy a hand wash? It looks like they are sold out worldwide now. I can’t seem to find them anywhere! The hand wash being sold online now are going for exorbitant prices. With all the hand washing required now, I can see why many are stocking up and why the shelves are empty. This is why we should consider making our own hand wash with essential oils. I started playing around again with essential oils last month. Essential Oils can be very harmful if you don’t know how to use them. I have blogged before about me thinking essential oils were just regular oils, and how it almost drained me. So I know how strong these oils can be. However, the pros outweigh the cons massively and that’s why I decided to try using them again with caution. If you haven’t used essential oils before, I won’t recommend you try making your hand wash with these oils. It is best to have some experience using essential oils on its own before you start creating products with them.

Homemade products don’t preservatives, which is why you should only make the amount you will need for about 2 weeks or so. You can decide to not include the essential oils if you like or you could use other types. I like the Tea Tree essential oil because it includes antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Lavender Essential Oil smells amazing and it also promotes relaxation.

I will be sharing clips of the hand wash mixture I have made on social media in the few days, so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for reading and do let me know how your mixture turns out if you try this recipe. Links to all the products mentioned here are below –
