Caring for Plants this Spring

I am not perfect when it comes to caring for my garden or plants or any landscaping stuff, but I am getting better. Flowers are easy to care for. I always get flowers so I had to learn how to care for them years ago. But caring for plants was tricky for me. I remember learning a bit of what to do with plants in our Agriculture class in high school, but that was many moons ago. When I got plant pots from the kiddies for Mother’s Day, I had no clue what to do with them. So I had to learn on the job. Along the way, I picked up some plant care tips which some of you may find useful.

How to Care for your Plants this Spring

Try not to move your plants around

Plants take their time when it comes to acclimatizing to different surroundings. So try not to move them around, as they may not adapt quickly. Luckily for me, this was not an issue from the beginning. I found a great position on a window seal from day 1.

Avoid over watering

One of the major causes of early plant death is over watering. Plants growing in soil that is too wet will suffer from a lack of oxygen which leads to the death of roots. This is a major issue as many of us tend to over water our flowers and plants to keep them alive. There is no street watering routine to stick to. It all depends on the type of plant you have. I water my plants when they need watering. Which is when the soil is dry.

Keep the plants near a window

The plants need to be as near a window as possible. Placing them near a window means they can get all the light that they need. Plants need light and warmth to survive.

Don’t spill coffee or tea into the plants

Be careful not to spill any coffee or tea into the plant pot. as this will attract flies that will eat away your plants. The sugar in the drink would make it a perfect breeding ground for insects as well.

Go for an easy to care for plant

Now this is the best tip of all. If you a novice like me, go for the easy to care for plants. The plants that are low maintenance and require little attention. Plants like geraniums and sago palms. They are durable and very easy to care for.

Do you have any tried and tested tips to share when it comes to caring for plants this spring?

Preserving Memories Through Photography

When I was younger, I hated having my pictures taken. It just felt weird. I was like this until I got into university for my first degree. Anyone that knew me well enough then knew I hated taking photographs with me in it. I gradually grew out of this and started loving photography. Now that I think of it, I think it’s all down to confidence. I didn’t feel confident enough to pose and take a photo. I felt I never looked good in them, so I avoided photography completely. Which is so weird to think of now as I am a blogger and take photographs almost everyday.

I love that my kids like taking pictures. They have loved the camera right from when they were babies. They are always camera ready. And they never get tired of taking selfies on any phone they can lay their little hands on. That could be because they are forever watching me taking photos, so they are mirroring that act right back. Which is why we have to be cautious of how we live our lives around our children because they are paying attention.

The twins were few days old in this photo. We took it at the hospital during one of their many snoozes. I love the shot a lot. They look like they are having a proper conversation. It is such a cute photograph.

One thing I love about being a blogger is the fact that I get to take lots of pictures. Discovering CanvasChamp has been a blessing because their prints are super affordable. And they deliver them very quickly too, which is great customer service. I know I will be using their service again and again.

Fair weather fun

If the weather is looking to stay fine, then you do not need to spend a lot of cash to enjoy yourself with your favourite people this summer. You could pack a picnic, and decide which item or food that each of you is going to bring and make the most of your local park or green space. While if you live near a beach, then why not get your hamper ready and head to the beach to catch some rays? Another great summer activity is inviting all your friends and family round for a barbecue in your garden. So, if you are looking to spend some quality time together why not make the most of the warm evenings to plan a fun activity and get everyone involved.

Test your friendships

You may love your friends, but how well do you really know them? Do you think your friends can cope well under pressure, or maybe you would like to see just how far you can push your friends. If you are visiting that part of the world, consider booking a trip to Charlotte Escape Room where you will be tested with a series of puzzles and trivia to see how long it takes you before you can escape. While this might not be for everyone, it is a fun and unique activity to enjoy in a larger group.

Get active

Now that the sun is out, you can use the weather to your advantage and get your entire friendship group in much better shape. From playing Frisbee to going for a run or even taking your beloved dog for a walk, if you are looking to shape up and look your best for the warmer weather, then be sure to schedule in some time to socialise while you get out and about. Not only will you be able to catch up with your friends, but you will also be able to slim down and tone up at the same time.

So if you want to get outside and make the most of the summer weather, while spending time with your friends, then be sure to plan some seasonal activities where you can enjoy each other’s company. Consider visiting a panic room to test your friendships to another level. Finally, make sure that you get active and enjoy the sun to help you get into better shape while catching up with your favourite people.

What type of summer days out would you recommend?
