Winter is well and truly behind us now, and it is time to usher in the spring season. Which means it is time to tuck the chunky blankets away and bring on the light and airy decor. I am super excited, spring is such a beautiful season. It usually feels like a breath of fresh air after months of the chilly weather. And our winter this year started off really cold and ended up even colder. Special thanks to the Beast from the East and Storm Emma.
In the spring season, I am usually in the mood to do some decluttering and proper spring cleaning. There is just something about the longer days that makes me feel I can take on a lot more. I have been very busy these last few weeks, thinking of ways to make my home brighter for spring, and I have come up with these ideas.
Move furniture around
Moving furniture around is a quick easy of way of changing the look of a room. Once I spring clean our house, I get rid of anything we won’t be needing. Once that bit is done, I adjust some of the furniture that needs adjusting to suit the season. And it works every time. The room is instantly brightened up once these tasks are completed. You should try it.
Get storage furniture
I am a huge fan of any furniture that stores stuff. They are so handy to have around the house. I wish all furniture could store stuff. It would make my living a lot easier. I recently came across some amazing furniture desks on Lionshome and I wish I could grab them all. Here are 2 furniture desks on Lionshome website I really like.
Writing Desk with 6 Drawers by Castagnetti
Sharpley Ladder Writing Desk
I love how modern both desks are, especially the Sharpley Ladder Writing Desk. It would look amazing in my living room. And it would store our books neatly too.
Invite Nature In
I love to have flowers around the house especially in the spring/summer months. I suffer from Hayfever in the summer, so I am unable to spend as much time outdoors as I would want to. Having flowers in my living space is my way of inviting nature in and staying safe. Besides, pretty flowers are easy on the eyes and they smell fab.
Get Spring Candles
If you know me well enough, you would know how much I love my candles and diffusers. The smell of sweet-smelling candles and diffusers makes my house feel even more like a home. I have run out of my autumn/winter candles, so I will be stocking up on some spring/summer candles in the next few days. The smell of a fresh scent in my home lifts my mood. I love having different candles in each room, so I can get to sniff in different scents.
How are you getting your home ready for spring this year. Please share your interior decor ideas with us in the comments section below.

Loved reading this!!
Mind checking out my blog? Just started it!! Xx
I will. Thanks.
I really like the ladder desk – such a good way to utilise all storage space options 🙂
Yes it is Helen.
A nice bunch of flowers can change a room. We’ve spent a few years growing our garden and now we are able to pick the flowers from our own back garden as the seasons change, which is lovely.
Yes it can Emma. Thanks.
I am afraid we are still rather stuck with winter weather for a few more weeks here in Sweden. However, it hasn’t stopped me religiously buying yellow tulips every week, and clearing the children’s bedrooms out of clutter!
It still feels cold here on and off too!
We’ve just moved house so trying out lots of new things and ideas. Moving furniture around is becoming a bit of a habit. A new house always smells different so we’ve been using candles and infusers too. Good ideas here!
Glad you like the ideas.
I love spring, I love spring cleaning and organising. I have decluttered a majority of mine and my son’s stuff, I have to go through kitchen and living room. It makes me so happy and excited for life 🙂
I love spring too 😊
I’ve got a ladder desk similar to this one and I love it. It’s totally changed the room!
Oh nice Laura.
Oh I love the writing ladder, I think I need to invest in something like this for my dining room x
Yea it is lovely x
Some lovely ideas and inspiration here Stella. I am starting to think of a spring clean for Spring 🙂
Thanks Claire.
We are redecorating our front room – just need to decide what colour now
Ah nice. Must be exciting.
Do you know Stella, I’ve never thought of just moving furniture around to brighten up a room. I tend to just leave them in the same spot year after year. Definitely something to bear in mind when we buy a house and a room is looking jaded!
Yes it is a great way of changing the look in a room.
We’re trying to feel spring like, but with snow forecast for our area this weekend its hard to feel spring-like just yet. However we love those writing desks and nothing cheers us up better than flowers and candles x
It is still cold now. Unbelievable.
The spring is really trying but it’s due to snow this weekend! But I’m so over it now and need spring
I hear there is even more snow coming next week.
