Working, Schooling and Homeschooling the Twins

I have deliberately avoided writing about Coronavirus on here because I don’t want to dwell on it. There’s enough news about it everywhere else and I don’t want to add to the hysteria going on, but it is becoming more and more difficult not to talk about it. This pandemic is affecting lives all over the world. The kiddies are now homeschooling from today due to this virus. So I am now supposed to work, study and homeschool the twins all at the same time. This will take a lot of planning and determination, but I am sure we will work it all out. Health and safety comes first, and I support the powers that be in this decision.

Working from home

I will be blogging as usual. The topics will vary as they usually do. Do not expect to see topics on Coronavirus on the confusion it is causing. I am rising above that and talking about other things no one seems to be talking about. If you need a good distraction from the current pandemic, you may find the blog posts really interesting. I will also carry on doing my other online jobs and see where the opportunities take me.

Schooling from home

Like many of you know, I started studying with The Open University last year. It has been going really well. I am self-motivated, so I do what needs to be done and I am also really enjoying studying the modules. However, it has been a lot harder to concentrate with all what is going on in the world. Luckily, I have managed to stay on top of my study and assessments somehow. This will carry on as normal.

Homeschooling the Twins

Homeschooling the twins is the biggest change. Normally, the kids are in school for a good few hours and I use those hours to get work and uni jobs done. At the moment, this is no longer the case. Schools are closed here indefinitely and I are meant to homeschool the twins. Fitted this in is the hardest part of all but it has to be done. The twins are in year 1 and are exceeding their targets, I won’t want them to fall behind. So we will be following the curriculum from home as much as possible, to keep them engaged.

If you are stuck at home and wondering how to engage the kids, you should try out these YouTube channels below.

Cosmic Kids Yoga

This YouTube channel focuses on mindfulness, yoga and relaxation for kids. We watch the videos and they are really nice, the twins love them. The videos are adventurous and they help children build strength, balance and confidence.

Little Sports

This YouTube channel has loads of workout videos for kids. For those of us that are unable to go out as much, you can still get the title ones moving with these videos. They are also great for indoor activities on rainy days.

I usually join in with the kiddies and I enjoy the videos too! If you are stuck indoors and wondering how to spend a few minutes keeping the kids moving, you should check out these videos. Safe stay.

The best way to meditate

There are different ways to meditate. You could opt to mediate silently, or listen to soothing music designed specifically for meditation. There are also loads of guided meditations available for both christian and circular. I experimented with quite a few on YouTube, and some are better than others. When it comes to mediation, there are so many options available, and these choices could leave you feeling very confused. When I first started to mediate, I tried all of them. I am a truth seeker and I love learning, so I wanted to experience the various ways to meditate. If you are new to meditating, I would advise you to to experiment with the various ways to meditate, until you find the right way perfect for you. Once you successfully create your meditation routine, you will never look back.

People like to think their own way of mediating is best way, but there is no right or wrong way to meditate. I see meditating as a way to receive a response to prayer. Prayer is personal so meditating should be personal as well. As long as your meditation brings the response you seek, then it is the right way for you. Before you can determine the right way to meditate, you need to ask yourself what meditation means to you and what you aim to achieve from meditating. Once you answer these questions, then you can decide on how best to go about your meditation. This will save you time and energy spent pursuing other ways to mediate that won’t work well for you.

The mistake many of us make is to try to copy how others mediate. There are so many rules about meditation from the experts, it is so easy to get carried away and focused on what we don’t believe in. Some say you should meditate for around 20 – 30 minutes everyday, others say you should sit down while meditating, many others think it is better to lie down. When it comes to mediation, the rules are endless. However, at the end of the day, the choice is yours. Try the different ways and make your meditation session your own. That way you gain a lot more from every session. Tune out the noise and tune into yourself.

Charity of the Month – Refuge

I love the fact that I am able to support charities. It makes me feel empowered and as they say, every little really does help. One of the charities on my mind this month is Refuge. This charity supports women and children experiencing all sorts of violence and abuse. Refuge Charity tailors the support offered to suit each individual needs. They also offer a range of services like refuges, community-based projects, culturally-specific services, services for children and support for women going through the criminal justice system. I think it is an amazing charity doing great things to help women and children who find themselves in a violent/abusive environment.

Forms of Violence and Abuse

There are different types of violence and abuse experienced by women and children. Some are more obvious than others. This charity does offer specialist support to help women and children who may be experiencing some form of violence and abuse. Some of which include rape and sexual abuse, forced marriage, domestic violence, so-called ‘honour’-based violence, human trafficking and modern slavery, prostitution, and female genital mutilation (FGM) survivors.
