Style Icon – Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner is all over the news with her new reality TV show – Life of Kylie. I have seen a few seconds of a clip of the show, and it looks good. I am no longer a huge fan of reality TV shows, especially those of the Kardashian/Jenner family. Which is why I am not watching Life of Kylie, but I am sure millions of Kylie’s fans are watching.

Kylie Jenner has grown up before our very eyes, and her style has evolved in the last few years. This young Style Icon keeps making a fashion statement every time she steps out. And guess what? She knows it!

“I never thought I was normal, never tried to be normal” – Kylie Jenner.

Kylie Jenner is famous for experimenting with her facial and body features (which I don’t admire), but she is also fashion risk taker, and I like that about her. She is not afraid to play with her look, and the best part of it is that she nails it overtime.

If I were asked to describe her personal style in 3 words, it would be – trendy, provocative, stylish. When it comes to fashion and style, Kylie Jenner slays!

Kylie Jenner seems to be taking fashion and beauty lessons from her big sister – Kim Kardashian. The good thing is that those lessons are working for her. She actually looks like a mini version of Kim now with all the changes she is making.

Apart from this beauty’s stylish fashion sense, I also admire her working ethics. Some days ago, I came across the book – How to be an Overnight Success by Maria Hatzistefanis, and Kylie Jenner’s attention to her brand and her hard-working nature was mentioned repeatedly in the book. It is good to see Kylie doing well outside the Keeping up with the Kardashians reality show. As the youngest of the sisters, I am happy to see she has her business head on. Whatever she touches, turns to gold!

The Essential Guide to Dressing for an Interview

The first impression is one of the most important parts of an interview. Your resume and cover letter may get you in the door, but your in-person meeting will be the make or break factor. Since we know that putting together a stylish and professional outfit doesn’t exactly come naturally to everyone, here are a few guidelines to follow when preparing for an interview.

Interview Dressing image

Dress for the Job

You want to dress for the job that you are actually interviewing for; if you’re interviewing for a barista job at the new, hip coffee shop in town, you don’t need to show up in a business suit, but if you’re in a more professional setting, you’ll want to look the part.

Add Details

Add elements into your outfit that reflect specific traits that you can bring to the position. For instance, does the position require someone who is incredibly detail-oriented? Then maybe add in a few impeccable details to your look that will stand out, like a perfectly placed pin on your blouse or a pair of polished cufflinks. There’s one statement piece you can’t forgo: the statement watch. Everyone needs a staple timepiece—look punctual and polished in one easy step. Browse the selection of gold watches for men and women from MVMT to find something that complements your new office-worthy digs.

Wear a Blouse that Fits

If you’re opting for a blouse, keep it simple with a neutral option that fits well. Women often make the mistake of getting a blouse that’s too tight or too loose. Tight blouses can pull in the chest and make moving difficult, while loose blouses look baggy and unflattering. If you find it difficult to pick out the right blouse, purchase a larger size and get it tailored to fit you perfectly. Pair it with a sleek pencil skirt or ironed trousers to complete the look.

Add Shoes

Whether you choose to wear heels or flats, make sure your footwear is clean and polished. If you want to wear a pair of heels, make sure they’re not scuffed from your night out. Wear a pair that’s comfortable to walk in and won’t distract you while you wait for your interview. Nobody wants to think of pinched toes or blisters during their interview, so make sure your shoes are worn-in before the big day.

Wear Appropriate Makeup

Unless you’re interviewing for a fashion job, keep it simple with the makeup. Save the intense cat eye makeup and red lipstick for nighttime and go for a subtler look.  Stay away from distracting colors and wear neutral tones that accentuate your features. One simple way to keep your makeup from looking too dramatic is to apply it in the natural light. Hold a vanity mirror up to the window and apply your makeup accordingly.

Accessories

Keep your accessories understated. Choose a simple bracelet, stud earrings, and delicate necklace to pull your look together. If your outfit is neutral, choose accessories with a little more sparkle or color to give your look more interest.

Interview tips image

Manicure

Your interviewer likely won’t be looking at your fingers with a magnifying glass, but nobody likes to see dirty nails. If you’ve been neglecting your nails, it may be time for a manicure. Go for neutral nudes, pinks, or even red for a pop of color. Your nails need more than color; they also need to be trimmed and filed.

Hair

Check your hair before your interview. Leaning your head against the car seat, a gust of wind, or fluffing your hair before an interview can lead strands astray. Bring a hair tie, hairspray, or bobby pins just in case you need a quick touch up.

Follow these style guidelines and you’ll pull off a cool, professional look sure to get you noticed for all the right reasons. Nail the first impression and walk in with confidence so you can land your job.

Late Summer/Autumn Fashion

I can’t believe we are almost at the end August. Where has 2017 gone? This year is going by so fast, we only said happy new year some minutes ago right? We say goodbye to Summer in a few weeks, and usher in Autumn officially. I am seriously looking forward to Autumn fashion. There is something so comfy about it. The light layers and booties always look so stylish. I can’t wait to play dress up!

The beauty about Autumn fashion is that you can incorporate many of your summer pieces into your new season’s wardrobe, by styling them right. Summer and Autumn pieces and accessories can work hand in hand to create the perfect wardrobe. You may need to get some in essentials in order to pair up existing pieces and accessories correctly. So this Late Summer Fashion Inspo/Wishlist post may come in handy. Here are a few pieces and accessories you may need to get this look right.

The Trench Coat

Autumn Fashion Image

The Trench Coat is one of the most important pieces when it comes to late Summer/Autumn fashion. It is an effortless stylish piece. Great for dressing up or down, and for dealing with the wet weather. I always like to have at least 2 trench coats in my wardrobe. My preferred colours are black and camel brown, like the stunning piece above, by Aquascutum London.  The minimalist design and the functionality of the trench coat makes it an absolute must-have this season.

An Umbrella for Late Summer/Autumn Fashion

I am usually not good with big umbrellas. They are usually misplaced somehow, so I tend to stay away from them. However, a small umbrella that would fit into my handbag would be fantastic. It would even be more fantastic if it looked as good as this stunning compact club check umbrella by Aquascutum London.

Pandora Bird of Paradise Scarf

I like to have a scarf with me at all times, especially during the Summer and Autumn months. Scarves are fashion essentials, and I can’t be without them. They are also great multi-tasking pieces. I use a scarf for a light cover when it gets chilly. I also love styling it as a head tie or neck tie. This beautiful Pandora Bird of Paradise scarf would be a great wardrobe addition. I love the silk blend and the fact that it is lightweight. When it comes to scarves, the lighter the scarf, the better for me.

Club Check Fold Handbag

Now Autumn fashion would not be complete without a stylish bag like this Club Check Fold Handbag.  I love the check design. It would look effortless stylish when paired with the check umbrella above. This stunning handbag oozes class and sophistication. I want it now!
