Road Trips this Summer

I hear the weather is going to be nice and warm for the next 10 days, so I have started making plans to ensure I make the most of the sunshine, before it gets all wet and gloomy again.

The summer holidays are around the corner, and that means road trips and holidays are being planned as I type. I enjoy road trips. We do a couple every year, and we have now become professionals at planning them.

You may find these summer road trip tips very useful, if you have a road trip planned –

Check the Car

Make sure your car is ready for the long trip ahead. Check the car all around, especially the tyres, to ensure it is ready for the trip. If you don’t know what to look out for, seek advice from a professional.

Get a Breakdown Cover

Ensure you have a breakdown cover. Being stuck on the motorway is the last thing you would expect but it does happen. It has happened to us before years ago. We had a car accident, and we were grateful to have a breakdown cover, which helped us in the accident situation. Trust me, the shock of an accident and having to deal with a car accident injury is enough, being  stranded on the road and having to worry about the recovery of the car, is too much. It is better to get a breakdown cover in place before embarking on a trip.

Entertainment and Snacks

If your kids are like mine, then they get bored very quickly on long road trips. So we like to go with entertainment and snacks to get them happy. So snacks in abundance on our trips. The tablets come in very handy, especially the LeapFrog, with the amazing battery life. We are a family that likes to read, so I also make sure there are books to keep the kiddies happy, and I am never without my Kindle as well.

Regular Breaks

Depending on how far you are travelling, stopping regularly for short breaks also help keep everyone refreshed and fed.

Have a Sat Nav

I don’t like maps, and I don’t know how to read them. So I rely on Sat Navs that speaks, so the instructions are clear and there is no room for assumptions. Having a Sat Nav usually help ensure the road trip goes smoothly. We would be lost without one.

Do you have any road trips to share?

Destinations to Visit this Summer & What to Wear

After what feels like years of waiting, we are finally approaching the brink of summer. Soon, it will be the season where we can wear dresses, shorts, sandals and all of our other summer pieces without fear of catching a cold or getting rained on. If you also live in the UK, you are sure to understand what a big deal that is!

As if that wasn’t reason enough to love summer, this is also the best time of year for exploration and travel. For those of you who are yet to decide on a summer holiday destination yet, here are two completely different options that are likely to pique your interest as well as what to wear while you’re there.

Paris

What To Do:

Whether you’re travelling alone, with friends or with your significant other, Paris is always a good idea. After all, who would want to miss out on the chance to sip coffee and munch on croissants while basking in the glory of Notre Dame, the Eifel Tower or the Louvre? Plus, for the shoppers out there The City of Love is also home to a variety of stores including intimate boutiques as well as some of the top designer retailers in the world such as Chanel, Sessun and Cancan.

What To Wear:

Parisian style is based entirely on the idea of remaining chic yet tailored; stylish but with a decidedly conservative edge. Usually, French socialites tend to adhere to the “no more than three colours” rule and opt for neutral tones over bright, flashy hues. Fortunately, it is easier to recreate this style than you might think. All you need is some well-fitting ankle-length jeans, some tidy pumps and a shirt with a feminine edge to emulate Parisian elegance like a pro.

Las Vegas

What To Do:

For those of you who fancy going further afield this summer, how could Las Vegas possibly be ignored? In fact, if you have a bit of a wild side there are few places that will suit you better than this not-so-humble Nevada desert town. Las Vegas is home to The Strip after all: 4.2 miles packed full of hotel resorts, entertainment venues and restaurants. There, you’ll find some of the most famous casinos and games in the world including roulette, poker and slots such as those in the NetEnt Rocks Trilogy. Those of you who have been tempted to try it yourself in the past by playing at tech-savvy online casinos such as Vegas Casino – which offers a variety of Vegas-style games including a live casino – are sure to understand exactly why Las Vegas is a great place to visit. You can also try the casino 500 bonus for more online fun.

What To Wear:

As you may imagine, styling in Las Vegas is a bit trickier than in Paris as there are no rules about fashion but many about attire. That is, you can wear whatever you please but there will be some venues that refuse entry if you’re looking a little too casual. Still, all you have to do is bear that in mind while packing and you should be fine: just opt for casual-formal attire. A nice dress or some tailored trousers with a smart top are sure to do the trick.

There you have it: two very different travel options for you to mull over this summer. Where are you planning to head this summer or are you yet to make a decision? Let us know in the comments below.

The World’s Coldest Location to Visit

Would you like to experience the opposite to a tropical vacation spot? The Oymyaokn village, known as the Pole of Cold, in Russia, is considered to be the coldest inhabited place in the world.

Therefore, whether you are bored with warm and relaxing resorts or you just met the man or woman of your dreams on a Russian dating website like https://bridesdating.com/ and plan to visit Russia, you will be satisfied with this trip and will have a unique experience.

While U.S. kids are riding horses, Russian kids in Oymyaokn are busy riding deers. Don’t think the Oymyaokn residents are doing nothing but sit indoors and keep warm. Not even close! They live their lives just as other people around the world do.

It is obvious that Oymyaokn is not an agricultural village, so people mostly eat meat and fish. Their local milk is really nutritious, so locals don’t get that cold in Oymyaokn and easily substitute fruits and vegetables.

So here are some fun facts you should know about Oymyaokn –

  • Once you are in Oymyaokn, you won’t have a great variety of malls or stores to go shopping, sorry Fashionistas. There is only 1 single shop in the village, providing locals with all the necessary stuff.
  • Power works perfectly well.
  • The station also uses coal and wood. It is really important for the station to work constantly. If the power ceases, all the utilities and pipes get frozen and crash in about 5 hours.
  • Most locals still use outdoor toilets.

So why is Oymyaokn so attractive to tourists?

The main attraction is Oymyaokn’s freezing temperature. The constant frost makes the village look like a fairy tale. Everything – from trees to cars – is covered in hoarfrost. Thus, every little spot is sparkling in a sunny weather, which is a beauty to behold!

Another attraction is Oymyaokn’s thermal spring. The thermal springs is so popular because the average temperature is -52 C. It is the only place where farmers can graze cows actually. The thermal spring for locals serves as a kind of oasis in a desert.

One more spectacular thing to view in Oymyaokn is the Road of Bones. You can view this beautiful spot right on your way to the village. The thing is that the fir trees are totally covered with a thick layer of graze, which makes them look like white bones of some huge prehistoric animals on the white snow.

It would amazing to experience the freezing lifestyle of Oymyaokn’s people. It sounds and looks like a scene from the Frozen movie. I can see myself loving it.

If you are in need of a frozen holiday, go to Oymyaokn or Yakutsk, the nearest city, and have a feel of how the locals live their lives. Where else on earth will you see owners running their cars all the day long for fear not to be able to restart them? I can only imagine.
