The 21-year-old model – Gigi Hadid, covers British Vogue March 2017 issue. This is her second Vogue cover and she looks good on it.

I like this magazine cover. It would definitely catch my eye on the newsstands. However, I see and hear about Gigi Hadid a lot so I am not dying to read anymore at the moment. The other features do look interesting though. I would love to the “What Makes An Influencer” and “Spring Fashion Special” as well. They sound right up my alley.

In her interview with British Vogue, Gigi Hadid spoke about her relationship with singer boyfriend – Zayn Malik, her open letter on body shaming and all.

On her relationship with Zayn Malik

“When I’m in LA I mostly stay in because it’s my time off and I like being with my boyfriend and doing art and cooking,” she explained. “We like late-night movies and we order from this amazing place that does lattes and gingerbread cookies. I need coffee to stay up. I’m always like, ‘Babe, let’s go to a movie.’ Then I fall asleep halfway through and he’s like, ‘You’ve seen the first half of every movie out there and you have no idea how any of them end.’”

This made me giggle because I fall asleep halfway through many movies too.

On her open letter

“The response was crazy,” she told him. “From Victoria’s Secret Angels to my friends who are considered plus size, everyone texted me and said they appreciated me saying something. The world puts so much pressure on fashion, then judges models for succumbing to that pressure.”

I have read her letter and I am glad she stood for herself and colleagues. No one should be body shamed.

How to Rock the Oversized Clothing Trend

Who would have thought oversized clothing would be so stylish today? Baggy clothes have been creating waves and many people especially celebrities have been using this ensemble as a trendy fashion statement. I have fallen in love with the oversized trend myself. I featured it some days ago, and I have been wearing quite a few oversized pieces in the last couple of days. So I decided to write up a post with tips on how to rock the oversized trend, so here is it.

Like every outfit, there is a right and wrong way to styling oversized clothing. The key to rocking oversized outfits is to strive to achieve a balance. Keeping baggy clothing to proportion is what will make you look stylish.

Here are simple tips that will help you make oversized outfits work for you.

  1. Baggy top + Fitting bottoms = Perfect match

With every oversized clothing, proportion and balance is key. That is the most important rule when it comes to styling oversized clothes and this equation is a perfect example.

Whenever you’re wearing an oversized or loose top, combine it with well fitted bottoms like skinny jeans or leggings. This gives you a more evened out silhouette.

You can complete this look with a pair of gorgeous looking heels.

  1. Baggy top + Short bottoms = Cute pair

The equation looks like complete opposites as large is competing with short but it still follows the rule on proportion and balance.

Alluring outfits start with contrasting combination. So in this case a baggy T-shirt or oversized sweater with a pair of shorts or short skirt can be a stylish and fun ensemble. However, make sure your shorts or skirt is not too short that it gets lost under your oversized top. That will make you look awkward as it will seem like all you have on is a baggy top. To be safe, always make sure the hem of your shorts or skirt sticks out from underneath.

  1. Baggy top + belt = Flattering Figure

Wearing an oversized top is great to hide areas you are not quite comfortable with, but at the same time it could also hides your assets.

Using a belt can make a big difference and help show off your flattering figure. Place a belt around the middle to flatter your waist and give your top a curvy shape. This simple trick will make your waist look smaller and show off an hour-glass figure.

  1. Fitted top + Baggy bottom = Comfy combo

Oversized styles do not only work for tops. It works for bottoms too. But, as always, balance is key.

A fitted top over baggy bottoms like yoga pants, boyfriend jeans and plaazzo pants keep this rule perfectly. The fitted top keeps you looking slim while the baggy bottoms keep it evened out, thus giving the perfect contrast.

This combination gives the aura of laid back and comfortable.

  1. Oversized jacket + Heels = Tall and Trendy

Oversized also goes to jackets and with an oversized jacket, you can experience a wow effect with this simple tip: add a pair of heels to the mix.

An oversized jacket is actually long, most times going below your waist. This creates a longer torso but when you wear a pair of good-looking heels you get longer legs thus making you look so much taller than you really are.

Choose heels that are the same colour with your bottoms. This will give the illusion that your legs are long. The same works when you wear long trousers that cover your heels.

5 Ways to be a Fabulous Fashion Blogger

There are so many fashion blogs these days, it is like a new blog pops up every second, and most of the time, that blog is a fashion blog.

I understand why most of these blogs are fashion blogs. Many people think as long as they have nice pieces, they can blog about them. But Fashion Blogging is a lot more than that. Yes you need nice pieces if you intend to blog about your personal style, but for your blog to stand out from the rest, it needs to be fabulous. Here is how you do that:

Be consistent and regular

To make it as a blogger, regardless of your niche, you have to be consistent and regular. Your readers have to know when to expect a post and they should not be left waiting for too long. I check my favourite blogs almost every day, and I will be disappointed to not see a new post(s) when I check. Being consistent and regular with your blog content is one way to be a fabulous fashion blogger.

Tip: Blog as regularly as you can to build your content and following.

Show off your personal style

For me to take you seriously as a fashion blogger, I would want to see your personal style. If I wanted just fashion tips and trends, I would check the likes of ELLE and Vogue. I also love to read about fashion tips, trends, news and all, on blogs, but I like to see the blogger’s personal style too. So showing off your personal style regularly is one way to stand out from the crowd of fashion bloggers. However you must have a personal style to nail this.

Tip: If you want a general fashion blog, have a mixture of fashion posts –  outfit posts, celebrity style, fashion news, trends and so on. I wrote 30 blog posts ideas for fashion blogs some months, so have a read if you are struggling to come with post ideas.

Pretty pictures

Your pictures have to stand out for you to be recognised in the fashion blogging industry. Invest in a great camera and get someone to take your shots. You could also get a photographer to take your outfit photos, I know many fashion bloggers who do. Tripods are also handy for when you are alone.

Tip: Avoid taking photos indoors as much as you can. Indoor photos are usually not the prettiest. Invest in a DSLR.

Active on social media

Have your social media accounts set up. For fashion bloggers, I recommend Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook, in that order. Post varied and regular content to your social media accounts. Follow relevant accounts in the fashion industry and work on growing your tribe.

Tip: Follow fashion bloggers, PRs, fashion brands, fashion designers and anyone else that catches your fancy. It is called social media for a reason, so be social.

Avoid fake goods

I see so many fashion bloggers posing with fake designer bags and shoes, and it is such a major turn off for me. I personally can’t stand counterfeit goods. I wrote extensively about this awhile ago, and it worries me that so many fashion bloggers think that their fastest way to the top is to pose rocking fake items, because they can’t afford the real deal.

I believe you should own whatever you have and can afford. If all you can afford is Primark, it is fine. It is all in the style. If you can afford Givenchy, that is fantastic, own it. But please don’t show up rocking a fake Chanel bag and expect people to take you seriously.

The whole idea behind personal style bloggers is you showing your readers how to work with what they have or aspire to have, and give them style ideas. That should be the main focus, and not how many “designer items” you have.

Many bloggers come into fashion blogging missing this vital point and they struggle from there. They wonder why no one is reading or taking them seriously.

Tip: Stick to original items you can afford. Do not buy items only to return back to the store, your blog is not a catalogue!

These are the 5 ways to slay the fashion blogging world this 2017. Feel free to add your tip in the comments section below.
