Do We Need a Pet

My kiddies have decided that need a pet. They have been bugging me about having one for some time now, and the bugging has now increased. We are one of the only ones on our street without a dog or cat, so I can understand why they are so bent on having one. They see pets in almost every garden apart from theirs, and they are obsessed with them.

However, I don’t think I can deal with the stress and responsibilities of having a pet, but you never know what you are capable of sometimes. If we had to have one now, I would rather we pick a dog. I think some breeds are really cute, and dogs look like they would be fun to have around.

One thing I know for sure is, our home and garden is not dog friendly at all, so that would need sorting out before anything else, if we do go ahead. I recently came across an infographic by Ratten Direct – a leading supplier of garden furniture in the UK,and this infographic explained how a dog friendly garden should look like. It is definitely food for thought for dog owners and lovers. Here is the infographic below.

I bet many of you were not aware of these possible dangers in the garden. I know I was aware of any of these, until I came across this infographic. Good I did, because I now know we are not having a dog or any kind of pet anytime soon, because our garden is nowhere where it needs to be in order to have one safely.

Is your garden dog friendly? What are your thoughts on this?

I wanted to be an Interior Designer

Once upon a time, I wanted to be an Interior Designer. I played around with the idea for months, and even started an online interior designing course to help me achieve my dream. But I never got around to being one. The dream kind of frizzled away, just like my dream to be a Fashion Stylist(which I also studied for), and my dream to be an Accountant/Human Resources Consultant, which I studied at the University for 5 years in total for both degrees. These dreams and more frizzled out, giving room for my current career, which I love by the way.

Sometimes I do catch myself thinking about my dream of becoming an Interior Designer, especially when I am watching TV programmes like Homes Under the Hammer (I use to watch it every morning at some point), and wonder how my life would have been if I really became one. However I am very happy with the career I have chosen and how my life is going, so no regrets here.

I guess that explains my love for pretty homes. I am quite homely; I like to spend time in my home, and I like it to look very pretty. If I had an unlimited budget, I would give my house a complete makeover. I have many home improvement ideas in my head but I have to take it one at a time so I get them all done properly.

I have previously written about our garden plans and our need for a big shed. We got one last summer and we are making good use of it. It is a perfect size, so it stores all our junk neatly, and there is space for some more junk, which is good. The only thing I am considering changing is the shed windows. I recently came across Simply Plastics – a supplier of plastic materials and products for over 25 years, and they stock Replacement Acrylic Shed Windows, so I will be exploring that as an option later in the year.

I would also like to improve some of our home decor like cushions, mats and the likes. I plan to do that this Spring.

My favourite part of the house is the bedroom, followed closely by the living room. I spend a good amount of time in both rooms, and I like them looking their best, as well as the rest of the house. So new bed sheets, duvet sets, curtains and the likes will be updated this year.

The kitchen is my busy place, I like all the required kitchen tools and gadgets in place, to make my cooking as fast as possible, and my family fed. I recently got some new kitchen gadgets so I think we are good as far as the kitchen is concerned.

The truth of the matter is we never stop improving our home. Whether it is a new coach, washing machine or a new home office table and chair, the home improvements never really stop, especially when you are a home owner.

Do you enjoying home improvements? Have you ever studied for a career but decided against it?

Home & Garden Update July 2016

home-office-569153_640

So sometime last year I moaned quite a bit about how our garden was yet to be done up. I am happy to say we are finally moving in the right direction in 2016, as far as doing up the garden is concerned. We finally have our very own SHED! And the home office is being done up in my head already, so I am hoping to get that sorted later this summer.

I am a very homely. I spend majority of my time at home with the kids so of course I would want it to look the best. I have been browsing some online interior sites, I am seriously crushing on some garden and kitchen gadgets for the home. Here are a few of them that have caught my eye:

Super Solar Security Wall Light with PIR, Warm White LEDs

I really like this security wall light, and I am so happy we now have this to include i a garden. I like the fact that it uses modern solar technology, and PIR motion sensor. It is so handy. I wonder how we have coped this long without it. It brightens up our garden beautifully, and it was easy to fix up as well.

Brita Elemaris Jug

This jug is a life saver this summer. We drink a lot of water in our house, and I am not a fan of drinking straight from the tap, so we were previously buying bottles of still water from the shops but all that has ended since I got my hands on this Brita Elemaris Jug. I got 2 in different colours and they are the best gadgets ever! I just pop a filter cartridge in, and I fill up the jug with a water. The cartridge does all the work and I am left with nice tasting water in minutes. I love this jug. It is currently on sale for £24, previous price was £40, so you have 40% off if you buy now.

Tefal Actifry Fryer

I first heard about this Tefal Actifry Fryer some months ago, and it has been on my mind ever since. It uses just a little spoon of oil to fry 1kg of food. Can you imagine that? The healthiest way to fry. It is great for chips, chicken, fish, curries, casseroles, stir-frys, risottos, and desserts. I love this kitchen gadget so much.

Have you done any home improvements recently? Which kitchen gadget are you loving at the moment?
