3 Netflix Series I am Currently Watching

*Collaborative post.

I hardly find the time to watch TV, but I make time for good Netflix series I enjoy watching. I am a HUGE fan of Netflix. We have been subscribers for more than 7 years now, and it is one subscription, I don’t ever see myself cancelling. I enjoy the fact that I can binge-watch my favourite series when I am in the mood to do so. It is good to know entertainment is always there when I need it.

The kids enjoy watching Netflix too. They have their own favourite shows they enjoy watching. I will be sharing their own shows in their words in another post. If you struggle with your internet connection, you could try VPN that works with Netflix for a better service.

3 Netflix Shows I am Currently Watching
Call the Midwife

I have heard a lot about Call the Midwife on Twitter, so I decided to see what the hype was all about, and I am glad I did. I am hooked! It is a drama series with a moving, funny, colorful look at midwifery and family in 1950s East End London.

I am currently watching season 3, episode 2 and I am finding it so interesting. My favourite part is when the women pop the babies out. The endless supply of newborn babies surprises me. They are so cute.

I am also enjoying learning more about the history of the health care system and all. Abortion was once illegal and contraception was once not covered on the NHS. Imagine that!

Peaky Blinders

I have allowed just finished Peaky Binders after hearing a lot about it. It is a British television action crime drama set in 1920s Birmingham, England in the aftermath of World War 1.

I really enjoyed binge-watching this series on Netflix. As a huge fan of Cillian Murphy, aka Tommy Shelby, I knew Peaky Blinders was going to be fun to watch. You have to have a bit of a sense of humour to enjoy it though. It is one of those series you either love or hate, and I love it.

Underground

This is definitely the best series I have seen on Netflix this year. I love the amazing cast and the story of Underground. I have seen the 2 seasons on Netflix and patiently waiting for more seasons to be uploaded.

Underground is an American television period drama series created by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski about the Underground Railroad in Antebellum Georgia. The story is about how a group of slaves make a daring escape from a Georgia plantation in 1857 and undertake an epic 600-mile trek northward to freedom.

If you must watch something new today on Netflix, you should watch Underground.

Have you seen any of these series?

Beauty Muse – Princess Diana

I saw the Netflix Documentary – The Story of Diana, some weeks ago. It reminded me why the whole world fell helplessly in love with Princess Diana. She was a rare gem, that touched so many lives all over the world. This documentary marked the 20 years anniversary of her death and I can’t believe it has been that long already. I remember watching her burial on TV at a hairdressing salon when I was about 10 years old, and how the whole world stood still on that day.

I learned a lot from documentary about her personal life, marriage and how she moved on after the marriage. 20 years ago is a long time. I guess I was to young to make sense of what I read in the tabloids. I found the part of the breakdown of her parents’ marriage very sad, so I can imagine how she must have felt then. To be fair, I found the whole documentary sad but I am glad it is on Netflix, so those of us who were too young to understand what was going on back them, can have a good idea now.

The Story of Diana Documentary triggered this beauty muse post. The princess was indeed a beauty, both inside and out.

There was something so personal about the Princess Diana’s look. It is hard to place a finger on it, but I believe she was the whole package. She had the height, the figure, the beautiful face and her hairstyle was hair goals back in the day. I also loved the fact that she wore very light makeup, and still looked phenomenal.

If you are yet to watch the The Story of Diana documentary on Netflix, I urge you to go watch it. It is a 2 part series and shows real life interview clips, footage and so on. Definitely worth a watch.

Do leave a comment with your thoughts if you have watched the documentary. Also, what do you think of Princess Diana as a beauty muse?

Claire Danes Covers Harper’s Bazaar February 2017

The lovely Homeland star – Claire Danes, is the cover girl for Harper’s Bazaar February 2017, and she looks stunning on both covers.

I am a huge Homeland fan. It is an adrenalin pumping series, and it keeps me at the edge of my seat all through, almost like 24. It is currently one of my favourite series. I have binged watched all the seasons on Netflix as soon as I discovered it. So I am happy to see season 6 is out. I can’t wait to watch that.

This Harper’s Bazaar cover is beautiful as usual. Claire Danes looks amazing on it. I love her hair and makeup (the red lippie always wins), and the outfit looks good too. I would love to read this issue. The interview sounds like a fab read.

Here are some excerpts from Danes’ interview with Harper’s Bazaar:

On Donald Trump and BREXIT

“I do think that England and America are so closely affiliated that it’s not terribly surprising there’s this parallel phenomenon occurring between our two countries,” Danes says. “The Brexit and Trump phenomena are informed by similar forces and social and economic movements. I think it’s been really stressful; it’s been really scary. I think we’re in a fever state and we’re all really anxious about how we’ve gotten here and why we’ve gotten here.”

Yes it is a very stressful time for many.

On her Carrie Mathison Character

“You know, I don’t think of her as female,” says Danes. “I’m playing a person. I’m playing a person. She’s just not defined at all by her sex. She is defined by her ideals, by her patriotism, by her commitment to righting wrongs, by her relationship to her mental condition [but] it’s just really beyond the more conventional stereotypes about what it is to be a woman in this world.”

I love Carrie Mathison! She is not a typical heroine, and that is what I love most about her.

What do you think of these covers? Are you a fan of Homeland?
