How to Maintain Pearly White Teeth

You know what a confidence boost having white teeth is. You’re never afraid to show your best smile. Although it is now easier to get your teeth whitened, having pearly white teeth is not permanent. The food you eat and beverages you drink can stain your teeth. If not checked, you’ll go back to the yellow stained teeth you had before.

And with the stained teeth comes dampened confidence. Of course, you need to eat and drink to survive. You can’t stop doing that because you want to maintain your pearly smile. However, there are ways you can maintain your pearly white.

  1. Brush your teeth immediately after taking stain-prone food or beverages

Not all food and drink stain your teeth. But if you want to maintain white teeth you need to identify the ones that you take regularly.

Common culprits are coffee, tea and wine. The trick to preventing them from staining your teeth is to brush your teeth with a good whitening toothpaste like this Curaprox Black is White Whitening Toothpaste for £19.95. Doing this will help to drastically reduce the possibility of stains and keeps your teeth really white.

Another clever way to prevent staining from drinks is to drink through a straw. When you drink through a straw you prevent the drink from coming in contact with your teeth.

  1. Use whitening strips or whitening trays periodically

Maintaining the whiteness of your teeth can be as easy as periodically using over the counter teeth whitening products. Over the counter whitening products like whitening strips or whitening trays can keep any sign of staining at bay.

However, whitening strips and trays whiten your teeth by wearing away the enamel. The enamel is the outer covering of your teeth. The more you use such products, the more you risk damaging your teeth. So be extremely cautious with how often you use them.

  1. Brush with baking soda

Baking soda is a natural product to help with teeth whitening. Just like the over the counter whitening products, baking soda wears away the enamel. However, if you restrict the use of baking soda to once a week, it will help to reduce the risk of damaging your teeth. It’s still a good way to maintain your pearly white teeth.

  1. Use teeth whitening toothpaste

There are special toothpastes that help make your teeth whiter. So, instead of using ordinary toothpaste and still face the risk of staining, you can use teeth whitening toothpaste and keep your teeth clean and white. I think this is pretty handy since teeth whitening toothpastes don’t only maintain the whiteness of your teeth but they also ensure your overall oral health.

  1. Eat more crunchy vegetables and fruits

Crunchy vegetables and fruits act as a natural scrub that will help clean your eat at each bite. Imagine how easy it would be to maintain your white teeth by just eating healthy crunchy vegetables and fruits like carrots, apples and even celery. As you bite into these vegetables and fruits they rub against your teeth and in the process whiten them. Not only do they help to maintain your white teeth, they also help you live healthier.

Natural Hair Transition with SheaMoisture

If you have been reading Fashion and Style Police for some time, you would know all about my natural hair transition. I decided to go natural some months ago but I didn’t want to down the big chop route. So I had to grow out natural hair, while cutting off the dead hair tips gradually. It took a while but I am happy to say my hair is now fully natural.

I would be lying if I said growing my hair natural was a walk in the park. It wasn’t. Getting my hair to this stage has not been easy. It took a lot of hard work and determination to get here. And my hair is still a work in progress.

I felt like giving up so many times along the way. My hair is a 4C and it is very coarse, so it is hard to manage. However, but I am happy I didn’t. I am very confident with my hair now. I am show it off proudly and it is just growing like weed, which is amazing.

In my transition, I have used so many hair products. A few of them I won’t use again and many I would continue using. I recently came across the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine Range. This range is great for my thick hair. I am loving it so far.

I am a huge fan of the SheaMoisture brand. If you scroll through my natural hair transition posts, you would see me raving about 1 SheaMoisture range or the other. The products are great for natural hair and I believe they have helped in my hair growth. This Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine range is no exception. I love all the products in this range, especially the SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, which I have used before. The products keep my hair clean and moisturised. I will be shopping this range in future.

You can get this products in Boots stores, Amazon, eBay and other beauty stores.

Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery Still Banned for Men?

Are cosmetic and plastic surgery still banned for men? If you analyze information from various sources about the topic of cosmetic surgery, it’s almost always targeted toward women who want to enhance their appearance. In previous decades, plastic surgery for men has been somewhat of a taboo act. However, current statistics indicate that this trend may be changing rapidly. Men are still in the minority of patients who seek cosmetic procedures. However, more men than ever before are showing an active interest in these procedures. There are a wide variety of reasons that we seem to be experiencing a lifting of the male cosmetic surgery taboo .

Below, we will discuss some of the reasons this is changing and what it might mean for male plastic surgery patients in the coming years. If you’re considering plastic surgery as a male, you’re not alone in your interest regarding these procedures.

Workplace Discrimination Affects Men Too

Men looking to fight age-related discrimination in the workplace are sometimes turning to cosmetic surgery. They are also turning to minimally invasive procedures such as Botox to turn back the hands of time. While we typically think of ageism and workplace discrimination based on appearance as primarily a female-centered issue, it affects men too.  As more men have high-profile careers where they remain in the public eye for extended periods of time, they too can be affected by derogatory remarks or even demotions related to showing signs of aging. Botox injections and other cosmetic enhancing procedures are being sought out by men who want to remain competitive in the workplace.

Men are Now Retiring at Later Ages

While plastic surgery icontinues to be a primarily female-centered arena, a growing portion of the male population are not ashamed to say they’re interested in these procedures too. Part of the reason for some men is that they plan to retire at a much older age than their past generations. By continuing to work much later in life, some men feel an increased need to counteract the signs of aging.

Men Display Growing Interest in Cosmetic Procedures

Since 2010, there’s been an almost 20% increase in the number of men who have shown an interest in Facelift Procedures . It appears that men view these procedures in much the same light as going to the gym or consuming a healthy diet. It’s all about men’s growing interest in taking care of themselves in a physical sense. Which leads to the desire of maintaining a youthful appearance for a longer period of time. Simply put, the aesthetic desires of men are really not that different from those of women. Men want to feel good in their own skin and be accepted based on their outward appearance. Both men and women alike appreciate feeling young and attractive in a strictly physical sense.

Cosmetic Procedures are More Socially Acceptable Today

Whether we are referring to men or women, the fact of the matter is that cosmetic procedures simply aren’t frowned upon to the degree that they used to be in the recent past. Part of this is likely due to the influence of Hollywood stars. They have been open and honest about their own cosmetic procedures. And what these procedures have done to enhance their lives. In times past, a patient would undergo a cosmetic procedure and hide away until healing had taken place. Thanks to advancements, patients can now go in for their procedure in the morning and be out in the evening.

Statistics indicate that almost 10% of cosmetic procedures performed during 2011 were completed on men. While this may seem like a low number, this figure actually demonstrates an increase of over 120% over previous years. More men are working in high-profile careers where they place a great deal of importance on their physical appearance. Additionally, men are working longer before retiring than they have in the past. Which means that they have a growing interest in procedures that can keep them looking young and fresh.

Plastic surgery has been a primarily female dominated field of interest in Europe, Sydney and most parts of the world. However, we are seeing a steady change in terms of a lessening of the taboo. As we continue seeing this exciting shift in trends, we are sure to see more men reaping the benefits of cosmetic surgical procedures.
