Product Review: Estée Lauder Makeup Brush Cleaner

Estee Lauder Image

I recently came across this Estée Lauder Makeup Brush Cleaner some weeks and I was eager to try it on my makeup brushes. I aim to clean my makeup brushes once a month, or every 6 weeks. I hardly wear makeup during the week, so I don’t see why I should clean my makeup brushes every week as recommended by the professionals.

I have used MAC Brush Cleanser religiously for years, so when my last bottle ran out, I was happy to try another brand, and Estée Lauder came to mind. One of my beauty resolutions for the year is to try out as many beauty brands as possible, so I am happy I am going ahead with it. I got this bottle from Debenhams, and I am loving it so far.

This professional makeup brush cleaner promises to gently and thoroughly clean, sanitise and condition makeup brushes, both natural and synthetic.

How the brush cleaner works –

Dampen it, then apply Estée Lauder Makeup Brush Cleanser to brush hair. Use your fingers to work into a lather.
Rinse well, then blot excess water with a paper towel and reshape the brush.
Lay brush flat to dry. Place at edge of table or counter with bristles pointing out to air-dry completely. Avoid drying upright, which can cause bristles to spread and handles to crack.

Well I put makeup brush cleaner to test, and here are my thoughts:

PROS

  1. It is super affordable. A 235ml bottle goes for £12.
  2. I love the packaging. It comes with a spray head, which makes application easy, and avoids unnecessary spillage.
  3. It cleans the brushes throughly. My makeup brushes, especially the foundation and concealer brushes, were in desperate need of a good clean, and this Estée Lauder makeup brush cleaner fulfilled all its brushes. My brushes looked brand new after a good few sprays of this Estée makeup brush cleaner.
  4. This product is easily accessible at Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Amazon, and Estée Lauder.co.uk

  1. I used to love Estée Lauder products, as they’re always such great quality, but I’ve recently switched to cruelty free cosmetics and unfortunately they no longer fit the bill, which is a great shame. I’d love to hear some cruelty free recommendations for a brush cleaner if you have any! 🙂

  2. I wash my make up brushes every few weeks because I use them a lot more often but I haven’t tried this spray. At the moment I am finding my lottie star brush cleaner spot to be the quickest and easiest way to clean them (esp as I have so many brushes) x

  3. This sounds and look great. I wash my make up brushes regularly in a warm soapy water. I guess that could be too harsh. I will definitely try this product. Thanks for sharing.

  4. It sounds really good, I think £12 is really reasonable as they usually last you ages! I have only just bought a new one but its one to bare in mind for next time

  5. I really should invest in some brush cleaner, this looks like something that would fit my needs. I am shocked that it is fairly priced – I expected it to be priced a little more expensive.

  6. Make up brush cleaner – I know I should but I tend to swish them about in some warm water and baby shampoo. Must buy proper cleaner.

  7. I’ve actually just recently purchased one of these to replace my MAC cleanser, I bought a funny looking rubber device with ridges that I brush the brush over and it means I’m not having to use as much of the cleaner which is a bonus.
