Blake Lively Covers Marie Claire August 2016

It is a new month, so it means we have new magazine covers, which I find very interesting. Say hello to Blake Lively on Marie Claire UK August 2016.

Marie Claire Magazine UK

I think Blake Lively looks lovely on this cover. I really like the pose, dress, hair and makeup. It is a very different magazine cover, and I like that about it. The bright prints on the white background looks so beautiful. Marie Claire got this August issue cover so right.

I have followed Blake Lively’s career since her Gossip Girl days and I am happy to see her doing so well. She is married to Ryan Reynolds and has a daughter – James Reynolds, with him.  She spoke about her experience with motherhood so far in the interview with Marie Claire:

‘When women become mothers, it’s all: “How’s your style?”, “Do you dress differently?”, “Do you go to Mommy & Me classes?”’ she told us, ‘I wanted to go to a Mommy & Me class before I was a mom. People really expect that you’re suddenly a different woman, and I think it strips a woman’s identity in a way that is kind of strange, because I’ve always been innately maternal my whole life.’

I see where Blake is coming from and I kind of agree with her. I have always been maternal. I love children and I always wanted to be a mother. So I knew I would be a great mom (if I may say so myself) even before I popped them out. But motherhood still changed me. It changed me a lot. It made me more patient and a lot more tolerant. I now watch programs I never thought I would watch, and do things with my and for my kids I won’t have imagined doing.

We women all become mothers through different routes. We all have our own personalised journey and stories, and I think these stories define us and how we mother our kids.

What do you think? Has motherhood changed you? Do you like Blake Lively’s cover?

Emilia Clarke Covers Harper’s Bazaar UK July 2016

The Game of Thrones star – Emilia Clarke is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar July 2016, looking like a stunning girl next door. I must confess, I barely recognised her without her trademark wig. She looks so different from her character in the hit TV series. But I love this look. It is soft, feminine, chic and modern. The Christian Dior Haute Couture dress is giving me LIFE!

Because she looks nothing like the character she is famous for, she can almost walk around without anyone recognising who she is:

‘The joy of that wig is that I’ve had years to come to terms with where I’m at. It’s easier to handle because of it. You’re like, “OK, I feel comfortable, everyone’s nice. I’m not surrounded by paparazzi.”

Unlike many people, I am not a Game of Thrones fanatic. I like the soundtrack, but I cannot understand the hype surrounding the series, and I know I am in the minority here, so please do not come for me. I have tried watching it many times, but I just don’t get it.

I don’t see myself grabbing this issue if I am being honest. It is a pretty cover with a stunning cover girl, but it doesn’t just scream buy me, to me. It just looks like 1 of those issues I would read if I bump into it, like in a waiting room for example. I won’t go out of my way to buy it or read it.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Game of Thrones or this Harper’s Bazaar cover?

Sound off in the comment section below, let’s talk.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the weekend.

Naomie Harris Covers Glamour Magazine UK July 2016 Issue

Naomie Harris Image

I am very pleased to see the beautiful and talented Naomie Harris on 1 of the covers of Glamour Magazine UK July issue. This month, there are 4 different Glamour covers, with different stars each. Elizabeth Banks, Reese Witherspoon, James Norton, and my home girl – Naomie Harris.  I have always admired Naomie, so I am only interested in discussing her cover.

I love her sense of style. This 39-year-old beautiful woman nails her look every time she steps out of her house, and she looks at least ten years younger. I would love to look like her when I grow up. Naomi Harris is really the ‘Bond Girl who kicks butt’.

However, I am not a huge fan of what Naomie has on here. I don’t quite understand the piece, but she still slays.

I have had my eye on Naomie Harris for years now. I loved her in Blood and Oil; a TV series shot in Africa, focusing on the natural resources palaver we have going on in Nigeria. I also loved her in Skyfall; She was the first black Bond Moneypenny, and also the first character to be given a first name – Eve. I adored her in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. I am happy to see her career soaring.

I am clearly getting a copy of this issue. I would like to read more about Naomie. She is a strong black woman and she inspires me. I would also love to read ‘The Women of the Year’ feature too. I read that every year now and it is always a good read. The other features look like they would be interesting as well, so this July issue is looking fantastic all round.

The only thing I would change on this cover is the cover, lol. Naomie looks beautiful but like I said, I don’t like what she has on, and the cover  looks a bit dull in general. I would have loved to see her rocking a more colourful piece on a white background. It is only summer for a few weeks in a year, and that is if we are lucky, so why Glamour won’t want to make the most of a colourful cover, I do not know.

What do you think?
