Do’s and Don’ts For Fall 2019 Fashion

*Collaborative post

If you’re updating your wardrobe this fall, it’s time to start shopping. But before you hit the mall or jump online, make sure you’re up to date with all the most recent trends and styles. Plus, a few fashion faux pas you’ll definitely want to stay away from this autumn! Because as Heidi Klum famously coined, “In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out.”

Make Sure You’re Wearing The Right Prints

Animal prints have always been a big part of fashion. Some, like cheetah, almost always have a place in your closet. But, there are a few new print trends this fall that you’ll either want to jump on board with or leave it up to the animals to rock.

Snakeskin is having a major moment and you can see it just about everywhere. Mainly we’re seeing it on shoes, such as these Madden Girl snakeskin booties. But the print is also being worn on tops, dresses, and even pants. With such neutral colors, snakeskin pairs well with tons of other colors.

Two prints that we saw come in and out of this year’s fashion faster than lightning were cowskin and zebra. You might remember Meghan Markle rocking a pair of cow print heels to an event this past January, and while the pattern was around for a bit longer, it died off pretty much completely come spring.

Zebra was another print that we saw on the shelves of H&M that quickly went on sale.

Know The Right Jacket To Rock

Matching your outfit to your jacket is (obviously) the best way to complete any outfit. But, wearing a monochromatic jacket/ensemble was one fashion trend from earlier in the year that just didn’t work. Although we do always love a good white on white, it was the dark or bright colors, as seen on Bella Hadid in April, that really just looked too busy. The style was quickly over shined by long camel coats and sequin jackets. Which, likely thanks to Taylor Swift, are more popular than one might suspect right now.

If you’re searching for the perfect fall jacket, we’ve found it here.

Accessorize Appropriately

Ethical and sustainable jewelry is officially the only way to go when it comes to accessorizing. With the recent push for eco-friendly measures in government, the fashion industry has responded. Brands are focused on reducing their footprint and offering more sustainable clothing lines (like the one from H&M). But the jewelry industry has made the biggest strides. Lab-grown diamonds and gems are exploding in popularity due to their 100% ethical source. And it’s not just with fashion jewelry. You can now get a mined-quality diamond that’s created in a lab. So when you start shopping for your vintage engagement ring to match your antique Chanel purse, you can walk away with peace of mind that the design may be based on another era, but the technology is that of the 21st century.

12 Favourite Looks in 2016

I can’t believe I am writing this post so soon but whether we like it or not, 2016 officially ends in a few days. It has been an amazing year all around for myself, my family and Fashion and Style Police. I am eager to end it to be honest, and get on with 2017, with the hope that it would be an even better year.

My style was featured heavily on the blog this year. I am a fashion lover so it is natural for me to showcase my style as I dish out fashion tips and tricks. It was difficult for me to select my favourite looks because I love all of them but I had to pick my best 12 looks in 2016. Here they are  –

Bare Legs

This is one of my favourite looks of 2016 because I got to show off my legs on a chilly January day and it was a success!

Summer was an amazing fashion season for me. Looking back now, I had my fashion game so on point. This makes me wonder why I am so lazy this winter as far as outfits are concerned. I think my fashion mojo is kind of tied to various seasons which is weird because this layering season is my favourite fashion season but all I want to do is stay under my duvet.

This amazing summer dress look speaks for itself. I adore this look.

5 Tips to Ageless Style

Ageless Style Image

I like to see a woman over 40 still rocking her style game. Many women lose themselves and their style once they start popping babies but that shouldn’t be the case. Looking good is good for every business, and it also helps your mental well-being. But some women believe they should change the way they dress once they start clocking their 30s/40s, and I agree and disagree with this. I believe there are many outfits we wore in our teens and twenties we may not be able to get away with in our 40s, because of changes in our body and lifestyle. But I also believe many pieces can be styled differently to suit various ages and stages in our life.

Here are my top 5 ageless style tips:

Build your Confidence

I wrote about building your body confidence some weeks ago and how important it is, and the truth is once you are confident, you can get away with any outfit. Body confidence is the first step in achieving ageless style. Once you are confident and in love with yourself, you can take on anything.

Go for Colour

Do not be afraid to experiment with colours. Wearing a bit of colour will make you appear more youthful. Why do you think the likes of Iris Apfel at 94 years, still wears a lot of colour? The right mix of colours and textures can take decades of you. White is a fail-safe colour that looks sophisticated on many. You can team your white pieces with softer/darker colours like purple, burgundy, navy blue or fuchsia pink, for a stylish effect.

Cover the Signs

For many, the neck and upper arms are usually the first parts of the body to reveal the true age (beware scoop and round necklines) so cover them up if you want. Scarves, shawls, sleeves, blazers, boleros and jackets can be used to cover them up stylishly. If you want to show off your neck, v-necks are the best necklines to go for because they draw the eye upwards for a more youthful effect. If you are worried about showing too much cleavage, pop a camisole under the v-neck top or dress.

Wear the Right Size

Go for pieces that are well fitted. They will always look flattering and stylish. No one looks good in oversize/baggy clothes. Ignore the label size and focus on how it fits.

Dress for your Shape

Apart from wearing the right size, you also need to dress for your shape and not your age. Ignore what is in vogue, and go for pieces and accessories that flatter your body shape.

These are my tips for achieving ageless style. Do you have any tips to share? Do share..
