OOTD: The Fancy Dress Challenge

Fancy Dress

I am always up for a challenge, as long as it is good fun. So when the good people of Tickled Pink Fancy Dress challenged me to pick an adult fancy dress and style it up, I was super excited. I decided to step back into the 1920s era, and I went for this gorgeous Fringed Flapper Dress. I was drawn to the stunning beaded fringing around the skirt, and the lace front. This dress reminds me of everything glamorous and chic, like 1920s and Coco Chanel. It also reminds me of a wedding scene in ‘Coming to America’, the wedding dancers had on a similar dress I think. I just need to yank off my shoes, and get in the dancing mood, lol…Have you seen the movie?

Anyways, back to the dress; I love the old school look. I found this dress super easy to dress up. I added a feathered headpiece also by Tickled Pink Fancy Dress to get more of the old school vibe. I knew I needed a WOW necklace to step up the look, so I reached for my new Maleficent. Labradorite Ornate Choker Necklace by Regal Rose. This Natural gemstone beauty is currently sold out, and no surprises there, it is loved by many. This great necklace is perfect for the party season, as it adds the WOW Factor to any look. It was just want a needed to take my fancy dress to the next level.

What To Wear To The Office

I got this Next tweed blazer some years ago and I so love styling it. The tweed jacket reminds me of Coco Chanel and it oozes chic and sophistication, and was and still is a status symbol for women. This Next piece is a great imitation of the famous Chanel tweed blazer designs, and is a stylish blazer to wear to the office.

It is a valuable piece to have in your wardrobe as it is quite easy to style. For this look, I styled mine with a sweater, mini skirt, opaque tights and boots, but you can style yours with a shirt and trousers, top and jeans or a dress.

The Yin & Yang Of My Personal Style (Winter Series) Part 2

Here is the continuation of the yin and yang of my personal style post. Did you read the previous post? If not catch up here.

  • The Pencil Skirt

DSCF1178

A pencil skirt is a powerful fashion piece. There is something so feminine and sophisticated about it. I have never really been a “skirt girl”, I can count the number of skirts I have in one palm, but I have taken to some super stylish pieces this winter season because it is all about showing off the tights and legs.

My favourite pencil skirt at the moment has to be this navy ribbed pencil skirt by Glamorous. I love when the hemlines falls just below the knee, it keeps the look stylish and flattering. I love wearing my skirts with heels, but thigh high boots and knee-length boots will create an illusion of long legs when paired with black opaque tights.

  • Perfume

According to Coco Chanel, a woman who does not wear perfume, has no future and I kind of agree with her. I am a perfume lover, always have and always will be. This season, I will be going for stronger, sexier fragrances like Giorgio Armani’s SI and Chanel No 5, I love the distinct, strong smell of both perfumes.

  • The Red Lipstick

A red lipstick is like a little black dress. It is a necessity, especially for the winter season. It will wake up your entire look. Every woman needs a killer red lipstick in her makeup bag. One shade doesn’t fit all so you need to hit the cosmetic counters and find the right shade for you. My winter favourites are MAC Ruby Woo and MAC Russian Red. I love the matte texture and the finish look.

  • The Statement Necklace
