Emily Ratajkowski Covers Glamour UK August 2017

The stunning Emily Ratajkowski – the 26-year-old actress, model and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, covers Glamour UK August 2017. This is her first Glamour magazine cover, and she looks lovely on it. I love the entire look. The background, her hair and makeup score full points.

The cover girl chats with Glamour about everything, from feminism to her career. Here are some excerpts from the interview

On Feminism

“To start saying that certain people need to have a license to be feminist is insane…Emma Watson said feminism isn’t some kind of tool to beat other women with, it’s supposed to be a freedom of choice. And I believe in sexuality. I think it’s a wonderful thing and, if anything, I want women to understand their own sexuality outside of a patriarchal male gaze. We’re the core of sexual beings, and I think that’s something that should be celebrated rather than attacked.

I agree with her completely. I have written about feminism and me being a feminist a few times on here, and it is a topic I would still keep talking about because I am passionate about it. Feminism should not be a dirty word. It should be celebrated rather than attacked!

On Social Media

“It’s not real, it’s a version of reality, and as a visual person who loves art, photographs, fashion, I’m kind of interested in fantasy…But it’s important to realise that some people have a hard time distinguishing what’s fantasy and what’s reality. We owe it to our followers to show the glam, but then also the real you.”

I love this woman already! She breaks it down so well. Many of us are obsessed with social media and the vanity that comes with it. Many believe all they see online, and aspire to be that, which is all good, but we should remember that what we see on social media is not always the real deal.

I am reading this issue already and I am loving it. Will you be reading? What do you think of this cover and Emily Ratajkowski? Please drop your comments below, let’s talk.

Taylor Hill Covers Cosmopolitan UK August 2017

I can’t believe we have reached second half of 2017 already. Didn’t 2017 just start some weeks ago? This year is going super fast and I am loving it. Say hello to the stunning Taylor Hill on the August Cosmopolitan UK cover.

I love this Cosmo magazine cover. I think Taylor Hill looks amazing on it. I love her hair and makeup, and her outfit looks perfect for a summery cover. The pose also works as well. This month’s cover is a lot better than the previous Caroline Flack cover for July 2017, do you agree?

For those who have never heard of Taylor Hill, she is an American fashion model and current Victoria’s Secret Angel since 2015. She is also the youngest Victoria’s Secret Angel.

I am happy to see Taylor Hill on another magazine cover, shortly after her British Vogue cover. I think she is a stunner and I am happy to see her doing so well. I would love to read more about her, I am always interested in success stories, so I can tap in on it. I will grabbing this issue once I am back in the UK.

Apart from Hill’s interview, I am also interested in the other features on the cover. The Size 18 Playboy Bunny too fat to fit in caught my eye. I would love to read about that. I use to be a fan of the Girls of the Playboy Mansion back in the day with Holly, Bridget and Kendra. That was good weekly entertainment back then. I wonder how Hugh Hefner is doing. Not heard or seen much of him in the news.

Does Fashion Empower Women

Fashion means a whole lot of things to different people. For some, it means a means of expression. For others, it’s a way to feel good about themselves. Then there are others who see fashion as a movement.

Seeing fashion as way to empower yourself as a woman is something that is most times overlooked by a lot of women. No matter how fashion conscious they might seem, very few women are aware about the type of power fashion delivers. It’s all up to you to be conscious of it and steer it in the direction that will help you grow as a woman.

But can fashion really empower women? I did a bit of research and soul-searching as I’m also into fashion and this is what I got:

Fashion makes you feel confident about yourself

There’s no doubt that looking good makes you feel great about yourself. And when you’re confident, you are able to do things in life fearlessly. For a woman, fashion empowers her to be able to come out of her shell. Fashion gives you that sense of security that you will be respected and heard because people usually address us the way we are dressed. Also, the boost of confidence fashion gives makes a woman feel unstoppable.

Fashion is a good avenue to make a living

Some of the women who venture into fashion industry have been extremely successful. Fashion is a lucrative business and there are so many angles from which you can start a career. From fashion blogging to fashion designing, or a being a personal stylist to sharing and selling courses or training, the options are endless, and the sky is only the beginning.

Being able to create a sustainable living from something that interests you is empowering as it gives you a sense of control over your life. You feel that you are able to support yourself and your family. You also define your income which empowers you to do greater things in life.

Fashion gives you the opportunity to share your message and make an impact

Fashion is expression. It’s a means of telling a story about society. While watching fashion shows on TV, I love listening to the behind-the-scenes interview with fashion designers. I observed that whenever they talk about their collection, there was usually a story behind it and a message they wanted to put out in the world.

Charity shows and fund raisers have been a great way women have impacted society through fashion. Their art through fashion has been an inspiration to several other upcoming designers, who look up to them for the motivation to pursue their dreams.

So does fashion inspire women? Absolutely! It’s all about being able to take fashion leverage on its power to give you the confidence to be yourself, the economic power to live the life of freedom and the ability to share your message and be an inspiration to others.
