What shoes to choose for a summery day date to the beach

Summery days with the warm breeze kissing the face is a blessing that we want to have 365 days a year in our lives. Sadly, our demographics don’t allow so. After being catapulted by the grim winters and autumn for a major chunk of the year, summer truly is the time to rejoice and get our bikinis out. The perfect weather makes it the best time to go to the beach, enjoy some chilled margaritas with the girlies and lie as the salt water and cool breeze calm our senses.

The idea of going to a beach in pitch winters is a foolish one. So a person who loves the sea looks forward to the summer and spring season, for a beach holiday to let the hair down. And it’s pretty worth it, too. The beach has this eerie sense of calm about it and soothes the soul of the most mentally wounded people. There’s not one reason why a person shouldn’t be visiting the beach when the time is right in the year.

Besides, this is time, when women can truly flaunt their skin and curves without getting a chill to their bones! The colourful bikinis come out, the skimpy bathing suits are flaunted and beautiful legs make a foray into the world. The beach is such a wonderful place to be!

Beach fashion for the feet

The only part about beaches that haunt women is the amount of sand that sticks to your body. Especially when it gets to all parts of footwear; no matter what you wear on your feet. While people may walk barefoot on the sand, it’s not advisable as shells or little crabs may give your feet the worst time.
So, here are the best types of footwear you could be wearing on your trip to the beach –

1. Flip-flops

A no-brainer, really; flip-flops are your best bet. They are made of rubber and no amount of sand or water will affect their longevity. One tap along each other and all the sand come off of them. Besides, the vibrant and haute colours in flip flops will make you choose more than one!

2. Gladiator flats

These are the best, if you are going to be wearing a bikini or a short swimsuit. It will not only make walking in the sand comfortable, but will also give your bare legs a dimension. And you can always choose the length of the gladiator flat sandal as per your choice.

3. Tie-leg sandals

Again, if you are going to be flaunting those legs on the beach, give your legs an element to flaunt too. The tie-leg flat sandals are available in so many types; plain Jane, tasselled sandals and even the fringed ones; there’s a lot to choose from.

4. Crocs

Crocs and beaches go hand-in-hand. If you have nothing in your closet, a pair of crocs will let you survive. These let your feet breathe and are super comfortable. As the Crocs  strikes your feet, they will not stick to your skin and will give you an easy time.

5. Slip ons or slide ons

Given the fact, that you are going to remove your footwear a lot of times and then wear it again, you need something that is easy to wear and not takes much time to come off. For this purpose, slip ons and slide on are best. They come in so many styles; you can choose from the mini wedge or the light wedge, there’s the double strap or the single strap or even the cross over strap!

What sort of footwear do you have packed in your summer hoiliday suitcase?

Emily Ratajkowski Covers Glamour UK August 2017

The stunning Emily Ratajkowski – the 26-year-old actress, model and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, covers Glamour UK August 2017. This is her first Glamour magazine cover, and she looks lovely on it. I love the entire look. The background, her hair and makeup score full points.

GLAMOUR_AUG-17

The cover girl chats with Glamour about everything, from feminism to her career. Here are some excerpts from the interview

On Feminism

“To start saying that certain people need to have a license to be feminist is insane…Emma Watson said feminism isn’t some kind of tool to beat other women with, it’s supposed to be a freedom of choice. And I believe in sexuality. I think it’s a wonderful thing and, if anything, I want women to understand their own sexuality outside of a patriarchal male gaze. We’re the core of sexual beings, and I think that’s something that should be celebrated rather than attacked.

I agree with her completely. I have written about feminism and me being a feminist a few times on here, and it is a topic I would still keep talking about because I am passionate about it. Feminism should not be a dirty word. It should be celebrated rather than attacked!

On Social Media

“It’s not real, it’s a version of reality, and as a visual person who loves art, photographs, fashion, I’m kind of interested in fantasy…But it’s important to realise that some people have a hard time distinguishing what’s fantasy and what’s reality. We owe it to our followers to show the glam, but then also the real you.”

I love this woman already! She breaks it down so well. Many of us are obsessed with social media and the vanity that comes with it. Many believe all they see online, and aspire to be that, which is all good, but we should remember that what we see on social media is not always the real deal.

I am reading this issue already and I am loving it. Will you be reading? What do you think of this cover and Emily Ratajkowski? Please drop your comments below, let’s talk.

How to Rock the Casual Chic Look

If you’re looking for something simple yet fashionable this summer then this should be your go-to style. The casual chic look is one that never grows old. It’s easy to put together, comfy and trendy. In fact, it’s one of my favourites.

This summer, it’s all about having that laid-back vibe and this look pulls it off perfectly. From A-list celebrities to those who walk on the street, this style is by-far one of the most popular styles you’ll ever meet. You can rock the casual chic using almost any style of piece, from vintage style to modern/contemporary style.

Here are some tips on how you can recreate the casual chic look and be fabulous this summer.

Floral print

Floral Summer Outfit Image

Floral print pieces are a favourite every summer. From tops, to skirts and trousers, there’s really no limit to what you can do with them. To look more casual, layer a floral patterned top over light coloured bottoms like a white skirt or a pair of white shorts. That way you are able to not only bring out the casual look of the floral top, you also look quite chic, simple and comfortable. That’s the whole essence of casual.

Denim

Denim cuts across all seasons and summer is not going to be left out. This summer, you’ll see more denim shorts, jeans and capris. Denim is universally known as depicting ease and casual, so having it as your go-to piece for the summer will help you hit the right style mark.

Keep it simple with a nice t-shirt or just to add some fun to it, wear a slogan tee – it always makes a good read. Finish off with a nice pair of sunglasses to perfect the look.

Chiffon tops and dresses

Lovely, light and flowing chiffon is the true definition of summer. It’s fun and playful. It’s also a big plus when you have the heat wave to worry about. Chiffon tops and dresses are trendy and casual, and quite feminine too. Style it with a long necklace to add more charm to your style. You can wear your chiffon top over a pair of shorts to make your outfit look more relaxed.

Striped pieces

Effortless yet stylish; striped clothing makes any ensemble look casual. This is a piece that should be included while you are styling outfits this summer. Take a striped sleeveless top and layer it over a nice pair of jeans. This makes you look laid back and captures the real essence of casual chic.

To complete the look, you can wear a gold chain to give it an even more chic look.

Candy coloured outfits

Although your choice of clothes plays a big role in how you can pull off the casual chic look, your choice of colour can also make a huge difference.

This summer try adding more candy colours into your outfits. Colours like pale yellow, light blue and peach look great in the summer. Feel free to add a heavy dose of white to the mix as well. White can help tone down dark colours and give you that casual feel.

What do you think of these style tips? Are you a fan of the casual chic look?
