Instagram Update March 2017

Today is the 7th day of March 2017, and I have another Instagram update post for your reading pleasure. Last month, I wrote about my love and hate relationship with Instagram, and how I struggled to understand the platform. Well, I am still struggling to fully understand it. It is not the easiest social media platform to understand, the algorithms seem to keep changing and it feels like a game of chess most of the time, but I am getting there.

Just to elaborate on how confusing this platform is, I posted this picture below on my Instagram Page some minutes ago, and I got over 80 likes within the first 5 minutes. I know it is  pretty picture, but I think I have posted prettier pictures and got a lot less likes so I really not sure what I did differently. Have you had this experience?

As at time of posting, I have 3704 followers which is a good improvement. I have about 100 new followers since my last Instagram update post so I am heading in the right direction. My target is to hit 10,000 followers by the end of the year, so wish me luck, and follow my page if you haven’t done so already.

My engagement has also increased since my last update post, and I like that a lot.

So what am I doing differently?

  • I upload more regularly. I aim for 2/3 Instagram posts a day.
  • I use relevant tags, I aim for 20/30 tags on each post.
  • I post pictures I really like.
  • I play around with the filters to get the right mood right for each shot.
  • I like and comment on posts I like/have something to say about.
  • I follow pages that truly interest me.

I hope to carry as I am, and hopefully smash my targets very soon.

How are you finding Instagram? Do you have any tricks or tips to share?

Spring Decorating Inspiration

With Spring coming up, I have started thinking about new fresh ways to refresh some of the rooms in our house. The Spring season makes me want to decorate; I think it has to do with the coolness of the weather and the rays of sunshine after having months of extreme cold temperatures. Plus, I love interior decoration so any reason to decorate really.

I have been snooping around for some home decorating inspiration, and I recently discovered some amazing homeware items available at the Altrincham Retail Park, I can’t wait to grab a few. This homeware spring/summer 2017 season is all about bold exotic prints and colours; pastel accessories will also be a home trend, so get ready to be in awe.

Here are some of the items that have caught my eye –

Argos Happiness Collection Home Canvas £7.99

This Happiness AT Home Canvas would look great in my living room. I love the simple floral design and the message. It is full of warmth and the light price tag of £7.99 makes it even more amazing.

This canvas would create a cosy atmosphere in every home. It would great in a hallway or living room.

Homebase Exotic Bird Pink Wallpaper £20

This Homebase Exotic Bird Pink Wallpaper would be a great tropical home accessory. Having this beauty on the wall of a room would be so beautiful. I have a few decorating ideas with this wallpaper in mind.

This T.K. Maxx Cream Floral Cushion is a true beauty, I am so in love with it. The floral design is so beautiful. It would look amazing on my black sofa, and the price at £12.99 is fabulous as well. Some of my cushions have gone super flat, and need to be changed, so I can clearly see myself grabbing of these cushions.

T.K. Maxx Pineapple Shaker £12.99

This Pineapple Shaker is a quirky storage option that will bring some life into any home. I love the quirkiness of it. I can see it fitting well in my kitchen and my bedroom. It would be a great home addition this spring.

The beauty of all these items apart from the fact that they are amazing, is that they are all £20 and under, which makes them affordable for many. And they are all within reach for me, I can grab them easily at Altrincham Retail Park, which is just a few minutes from where I am.

What are your thought on this new spring/summer home trend? Did any of these items catch your eye?

3 Productivity Hacks for Online Entrepreneurs

Time is the most valuable commodity we living beings have. We all have the same amount of time everyday; 24 hours. Whether we are healthy or ill, tired or strong, rich or poor, young or old, we all have the same amount of hours each day, and none of us can buy time back. What we do with our time is what makes the difference in our lives. Since we can’t go back in time to make amends or do things right, we have to make sure we are maximising the most of our time every day regardless of our situation.

For us online entrepreneurs, managing our time and being as productive as possible is so important. Especially as most of us work alone and we are our own bosses.

Many people wonder how I get “the time” to do all I do – juggling my twin toddlers pretty much by myself all day, and running my online projects. When I wrote my book – How to Cash In as a Blogger, many asked how I found the time for that. I found it so weird that I kept getting asking the same question over and over again. Well, when there is a will, there is a way, and there is always enough time to get done all that needs to be done.

Here are 3 productivity hacks that have worked for me in the past 5 years, you may work for you as well:

Guard your time

Now this is the first productivity hack I am mentioning for a reason, and that is because without having the time, you can’t get anything done. So you need to ensure you guard your time jealously.

In 24 hours, I need to sleep at least 7 hours so I don’t get grumpy, I need to eat my meals, I need to feed my family, I need to get my kids to pre school and get them back home in time, I need to write, I need to get blog work done, I need to attend to my freelance clients, and so on. So with all the various tasks that need to be done, I can’t afford to speak on the phone for hours, to be on Whatsapp chatting endlessly, watch all the series on TV or lie in bed all day. I need to guard my time.

Once you guard your time, you will find that you have more time than you thought you did.

Set a routine

Once your time has been guarded, then you need to set a clear routine so you know what needs to be done daily and in what order, leaving a bit of room for flexibility. Having a to-do list helps massively as well. I tend to be on top of my day when I stick to my to-do list.

The beauty of having a routine and to-do list is that you don’t need to think of what needs to be done because you know that already. It helps you become more efficient.

Work hard

Many people say it is work smart and not hard. I tend to disagree with this many times depending on the situation. In order to be productive, you have to be hard-working. Yes you will need to work smart too but you will have to work hard first for your work smart to work for you.

Imagine if Beyoncé was “working smart” from her days in Destiny’s Child? Do you think she would be where she is today? No I don’t think so. For you to relax on your hustle, you have to put in the work in the foundation days.
