How To Upgrade Your Style In Time For Summer

*Collaborative post.

Summer is undoubtedly the best season of the year – especially when it comes to fashion. After all, it gives you the chance to ditch bulky coats and accessories in favor of some genuinely stylish looks.

While the sun may already be shining, it’s not too late to upgrade your wardrobe. In fact,  finding your own unique style and look could be the key you are looking for to boost your confidence levels ahead of your summertime plans.

With that in mind, here are some simple ways to brighten up your wardrobe and style this summer.

  • Focus on accessories. The right accessories can make or break an outfit. Not only do they complete your look, but they also help you to show off your personality and style a little more in your daily life. They can also carry a lot of sentimental value. As a result, one of the easiest ways to overhaul your style quickly is by investing in accessories. For example, a  Silver Signet Ring is a great way to make a statement – and is sure to be the envy of your friends.

  •  Buy secondhand clothes. Don’t worry; you can still get a new wardrobe even if you’re working with a tight budget. For example, you could save money on your outfits by buying clothes second-hand from a local thrift store or through apps such as Vinted and Depop. This is also a great way to say goodbye to fast fashion and the harm it is causing to the planet. Alternatively, if you don’t want to shop second-hand, you should focus on supporting smaller businesses and independent designers. This is also a great way to ensure that your style will remain unique, as they often make fewer versions of each item than larger brands will. They also tend to be made of higher-quality materials, meaning they will last longer.

  • Buy clothes you feel comfortable in. While you may be keen to jump onto the latest style trends, one of the easiest ways to feel confident is by feeling comfortable in your clothing. As a result, you should make sure you find clothes that make you feel like you – and not those that you feel like you should be wearing because everyone else is wearing them. For example, if you’re looking to improve your body confidence, you should try to find clothes that flatter your figure. However, you should also remember that bodies come in all shapes and sizes – and you are beautiful just as you are.

  • Bring in bright colors. Introducing bright colors into your wardrobe is another great way to celebrate the summer. However, in order to pull off the best looks, you might want to use a  wardrobe colour palette to figure out which shades and tones complement your skin tone and other items in your wardrobe. That being said, don’t be afraid to go for a color or shade that is a little bright our ‘out there’ – if you like it, wear it – who cares what anyone else thinks.

6 Chic Outfit Ideas for Women Over 30

There is this uncanny feeling that your 20s fashion no longer works for you now that you’re 30. It can get a little awkward when you’re around friends and colleagues who are within the same age bracket and you look like you’re fresh out of university. What do women in their 30s or above wear anyway? And is it difficult to pull off mature yet chic? What are the outfit ideas for women in their 30s?

There are plenty of ideas out there for women who want to look fashionable at their age. I’ve got 6 you should try. And no, it’s not difficult to put together.

  1. Simple and classy

Introducing the look that makes being elegant seem easy – almost like second nature. When women get to their 30s, they unconsciously go for the very mature look, which make people mistake their dress sense to be dull. But being 30 or above doesn’t mean you can’t look sophisticated.

To achieve the look, wear a simple short dress and layer it with a long jacket. The short and long combination brings a lot of balance to the outfit.

Keep each item in the ensemble a solid colour. For example, a dark brown long jacket draped over a white dress with lace details. Single colours make the ensemble look responsible.

To continue with the classy theme, style the outfit with a pair of stiletto strap sandals.

  1. Billowy top over skinnies

Who said you can’t be in your 30s and wear skinnies? Dressing maturely doesn’t mean you have to drop the styles that are in vogue among the younger generation. You can be in tune with the trends and still dress your time.

To achieve the look, you need to work towards striking a balance. The skinny jeans or trousers you pick could be accompanied with a large size top. That evens everything out. You can style the outfit with a pair of ankle boots to give an edge to the outfit.

Again, stick with single colours. You can never go wrong with monochrome.

  1. Blazers to capture both worlds

Imagine a Friday night after an extremely hectic day at work. You hit the bar with your colleagues immediately after you close. And there’s no time to change into party wear.

Blazers over a sleek formal dress can be the ideal combination for those Friday nights when you need to unwind from work. This ensemble looks great at the office and at the bar while enjoying a couple of drinks with friends.

  1. Casual in a cardigan

It’s easy to achieve that casual look. But some take the casual a little too far. As a stylish woman you have to make a statement, even when your dressing speaks laid back and relaxed.

The combination is easy. All you need are a pair of jeans, a ruffled blouse and a cardigan. While the blouse and the jeans reflect the current trend, the cardigan helps to tone it down just enough to show that you are fashionable yet mature.

  1. Using less to say more

Although all the outfit ideas here are fairly simple to achieve, you can go a lot simpler.

The minimalist approach to styling involves the use of pieces that achieve one major theme. There’s no need to accessorize too much. You can even go with no accessories at all. The focus is on one concept and one concept alone.

There are many ways to achieve this look but here’s one you can work with. A pleated skirt with a sleeveless top and ballerina flats to match.

The colour choice must be simple. You can go single colours that match or go all out with a single colour where you use distinct pieces. This is to help prevent making your two piece ensemble look like one.

  1. The masculine look

Sometimes you’d like to put on an outfit that speaks strength. The masculine look is one that has garnered a lot of attention. For a lot of women, the masculine look shows boldness, character and audacity.

A black pantsuit combined with white collared shirt is enough to achieve this look. However, you can give it a bit of a feminine touch with black heels and a clutch purse.

Hey people. Happy new week. I hope you all had a terrific weekend, because I did. It is another Monday, and I am ready to set this week off with a bang and finish off February on the highest note.

For this double denim outfit post, I am rocking two denim pieces and accessories with a black and white scarf, gold sneakers, black sunnies and black bag.

I love rocking the denim on denim look. I find it effortlessly chic and easy to style. The weather is getting a lot better, the chill has reduced so it is the perfect time to start layering with lighter pieces, and I am starting off with this double denim outfit. Twice as much denim, is twice as good!

This Joules denim dress is a new addition in my wardrobe. I have not had a denim dress in my wardrobe for years so I was happy to grab this online. I fell in love with it as soon as it landed on my doorstep. I love the free fit of this jersey pocket dress. It is timeless, classic and very flattering. It can be worn layered up with leggings/jeggings during winter, or worn on its own during summer. It is such a versatile piece, I will be wearing a lot of it during the coming months.

Another new wardrobe addition is this Lacoste Aviator sunnies. It is my first pair of Aviator style sunglasses so you can imagine the love I have for it.  I adore the contemporary, oversized look. You will be seeing a lot of this beauty on Fashion and Style Police.
