Giving Your Blog Visitors The Chance To Become Members

*Collaborative post.

We want the people who read and watch and interact with our content to know just how much we appreciate them for doing so, but how can you show it? Well, you can give them the chance to become a member of your own little corner of the internet – it’s a great way to take your blog a bit further, especially if you know you’ve got something real to offer anyone who signs up.

So with that in mind, here’s just a few tips on how you can give anyone who consumes your content the chance to sign up with you and reap all the rewards for it. Make sure you put these ideas to good use if a simple mailing list just isn’t cutting it for you anymore.

Who knows how many people crowd around a screen to see what you have to say – why not give them some kind of exclusivity?

Offer Them an Incentive to Sign Up

You want your readers to know they can become members, and you want them to be excited about the prospect. Some of them may have been asking for ways to interact better with you, and to contribute more to your blog and its efforts, and some may not be too bothered either way. No matter what opinions your various readers may have, no one is going to become a member for nothing!

So give them an exclusive. They could get to read posts non-members will never, ever see. Maybe they get promo codes sent straight into the inbox, for various other websites across the net that you’ve collaborated with, or for your own shop that you run. You can also give them the chance to submit guest posts for your approval, which is a great way to bulk out your own blog, and for them to shine up their writing portfolio. These are all great incentives for anyone who’s interested in the online world!

Give Them a Secure Portal

If people are going to be signing up to have a membership with you, and either pay for the privilege or store some of their personal and private details on your website server, make sure you give them a secure portal to go through. It really is the least you could do!

Make sure your website is secure, first of all, by adding in that sneaky ‘s’ on the end of the ‘http’. Then try to add an SSL certificate to your retail section – this provides users with encryption over any details they might input at the checkout Or maybe you could look into the identity verification service used by millions, and apply similar methods or software and tech to your own blog? These could all work really well for your membership plans!

So, are you ready to take your blog to the next level? You might already be running it as a business, and you’re very happy with how far you’ve come, but remember to give back every once in a while.

Pregnancy Insomnia – How I dealt with it

I remember my pregnancy days sometimes and I smile. In the early days, I slept like a baby but my sleep was filled with all sorts of dreams. I had a different dream every night and there dreams were so vivid, I found them entertaining. I enjoyed my bedtime in the first trimester. Sleep and bedtime Fast forward to the second trimester, and sleep became a luxury. I could hardly sleep at night.

Napping during the day was fine on some days, but sleep won’t come at night. I would be wide awake unable to sleep from night to morning, and I would have to get up in the morning for work. It was horrible, I was so exhausted.

What is Pregnancy Insomnia?

Pregnancy Insomnia is when you have difficulty sleeping when you are expecting. I never had issues with sleep until I became pregnant and once I delivered all I wanted to do was sleep, but my tiny newborns won’t let me. Insomnia took a toll on my physical and mental health, and left me drained. I didn’t struggle with any other pregnancy issues. I went the full term with the twins, and worked until I was about 37 weeks pregnant. My Job in Manchester had me commuting over 2 hours each way to get to work.

Causes of Pregnancy Insomnia

There are many causes of pregnancy insomnia. Here are a few common causes –

  • Heartburn
  • Discomfort
  • Frequent urinating
  • Vivid dreams
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Backpain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Leg Cramps
  • Hormones

I think my pregnancy insomnia was caused by hormones and heartburn. I had bad heartburn and morning sickness throughout my second and third trimester. Also, I also think my pregnancy hormones played a major role in my insomnia. I was pregnant for the first time, with 2 babies inside me. So I can imagine the shock my body was in.

So how did I deal with my pregnancy insomnia?

How did I deal with my pregnancy insomnia? I didn’t. Throughout my second and especially my third trimester, I hardly got any sleep. It was the same every night. I would toss and turn until morning, and go into work feeling shattered. I could take any sleeping medication to help me sleep, so there was really nothing I could do. During the day, I did manage to nap at times, and those naps helped me stay sane. Having a bedtime routine also helped me relax and get into the mood.

I also remember saying comfortable in bed with a pregnancy pillow and as many pillows as I could lay my hands on. I had a pillow for my neck, head, back, legs, and waist. These pillows helped me stay comfy.

Difficulty sleeping while pregnant is a common thing. Many pregnant women experience some form of disruption in their sleep. Changes in my lifestyle/bedtime routine didn’t really help. It is worth speaking with your doctor if you have having sleep problems. Your doctor would be able to check your situation and advise accordingly.

What Marie Kondo Taught Me

*Collaborative post.

I finally decided to binge watch Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix the other day and I am glad I did. At first, I didn’t want to watch the Netflix original series because I thought it wasn’t for me. But I am always interested in home decor and renovation series, so I decided to give it a go. I picked a lot of tips from Marie Kondo’s series. I think she is a very smart interior decorator. She definitely knows what she is talking about and some of her tips have been tried and tested by me.

Clutter has no space in our hone. It is something I have always been on top of because I don’t do well with clutter or mess. Which is why our house is always neat and organised. I found some of the couples very interesting. The amount of items they had and their lifestyle was interesting to watch because I couldn’t relate or understand many of them. But I took some organising tips away from the series and I have implemented them into my life and they work great. Here they are –

Make use of boxes

I never knew how useful boxes could be in a drawer/wardrobe. Boxes change the whole look of a space and helps in maximising the space as much as possible. I am looking forward to getting some boxes for the bathroom storage when we get an additional one. We need some extra storage in our bathroom, thanks to the many hair and skincare products I have. If I had my way I would get rid of the entire bathroom and change the decor. The carpets we have in there would be out of the window if I had my way. I would replace them with karndean vinyl flooring for an authentic and. durable wood look.

Keep bags inside each other

I have tested this tip and it works! I now put my bags inside each other, 1 in each bag, with the handles out so I can view (and remember ) them easily. It helps maximise space, and the technique keeps your bags organised. You should try it.

Thank things you no longer need

Many of us take what we have for granted, forgetting that many people go without everyday. Which is why I love the whole idea of thanking things that no longer serve us, and I will be doing more of that going forward. I also like the fact that she greets the house before she starts the decluttering process with the family. That makes a whole lot of sense to me for a weird reason.

I have seen all the 8 episodes of Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and I am looking forward to the second season. I hope Netflix brings that  this second season back soon. The fact that Marie Kondo spoke Japanese all through was also a good idea. I wasn’t expecting that but it felt more real with her having a translator there.

Have you seen this Marie Kondo series? What are your thoughts?
