Smart Ways of Moving House

I am not a fan of moving. Moving house scares the life out of me, which is why I don’t move much. I have been in our current house for 5 years now, and I am loving it. They are many people like me who hate moving, but move we must every now and again. Moving house takes a lot of work, time and effort. But there are smart ways of moving house. Here are ways you can go about it.

Decluttering the home image

Get rid of the clutter

Clutter and moving house do not work. The last thing you need is to take junk with you to your new home. So you need to get rid of the clutter before you move house. Anything you have not used in a year needs to go. Same applies for anything you don’t need at your new house. You won’t want a new place looking crowded from day 1. It also saves time, money and effort getting rid of the clutter instead of taking the junk with you.

Hire a moving company

I have never hired a moving company for a house move before but my sister did last year, and she swears by them. She was heavily pregnant during the house move, and the last thing she needed was the stress of moving boxes about. The moving company sorted out the entire move for her. It was a stress-free process, and I know I would be hiring a moving company for my next house move regardless of the cost.

Keep the kids busy

Keep the kids busy if you have any. You can get them involved in the move by giving them small chores to handle. If they are too young to help out, you can keep them entertained in the best way you know how, while the move is going on. The last thing you will need when moving is a child running or being a distraction.

Keep your important stuff

Remember to keep the important items safe. So purse, keys, phones and anything you will be needing should be in a cross body bag on you. That way you don’t forget or drop them.

Take it easy

Don’t be too hard on yourself while moving. You don’t need your new house looking all arranged within 24 hours. It is completely normal for everything to be upside down for some days while you settle down. No house move really goes as planned and no house mover is perfect, so don’t be too hard on yourself.

Read your meter

I worked in customer service for an energy company for 3 years. So I know how important it is to get a meter reading before moving. Taking a meter read should be the last thing you do before driving off. I recommend taking a picture, that way there is no confusion between yourself and the new occupants.

Fashion and Beauty Products

I eat and drink fashion and beauty, which is why you read a lot of these topics on Fashion and Style Police. I wonder how the world would have been without fashion and beauty. It would have been dead boring. That I am sure of. I bet I won’t have been able to cope.

These fashion and beauty products were delivered in the last few days, and I have been busy with them.

Calvin Klein Gold Plated Earrings

I got this stunning Calvin Klein Earrings from Browns Family Jewellers and had to Instagram it immediately. I love the shade of gold. It goes so well with my studs. And I am a huge fan of anything Calvin Klein. I think it is a great fashion accessory brand. Calvin Klein accessories always scream quality. I love them all!

What do you think of the earrings? I am so in love and will be featuring them in an outfit post soon.

Olverum Bath Oil

I have used Olverum Bath Oil and I think it is a fantastic bath oil. The fact that all the oil is absorbed into my skin, leaving no greasy residue in my bath tub is amazing.

Before I met Olverum, I always found using bath oil products a chore, because I had to scrub the bath right after, so no one trips. So it is great to not have that problem with Olverum Bath Oil. I can see myself taking this travel set away with me on many trips. Half a capful of this product leaves me feeling so relaxed.

What do you think of these products?

Outfit Post – Fashion Blogger in Maryland

As you may know by now, we were on holiday in the US for some days. We got back last week, and we still trying to get back into the swing of things. The jet lag is gone, which is great. We were like zombies for days. But I still have a mountain of laundry to tackle, and some unpacking to do. Which is the part I hate the most about going on holiday. Thankfully, I made sure I cleaned the house from top to bottom before we left. I didn’t want us to come back to a dirty house. That would have been so depressing.

I took these photos in Laurel, Maryland. It was a nice sunny day, and I was in the mood to get outfit shots taken. The only accessory missing was my sunglasses, but I didn’t let that stop me.

Like I said in the previous travel post, I didn’t get to do a lot of sight seeing in Maryland. I was hoping to do visit some tourist attractions but it never happened. All I did was see family and friends, and I spent the rest of my time in shopping malls or the hotel.

We spent 6 nights in Maryland. It was my third time visiting the city but first with the kids. We stayed in Homewood Suites by Hilton, which was a literally a home away from home, with a kitchen, living room and bedroom. We had a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, TVs, coffee machine and all the basics available to us. It was a lovely place to stay and I will be looking out for Homewood Suites by Hilton in other locations.

I didn’t get to travel with my Canon camera so the quality of my photos are not as good as I would have liked. I had to make do with my iPhone and Samsung phone cameras. We were travelling with too many tablets and laptops, the last thing I wanted to add on was another gadget.
