My Teeth Whitening Experience

I have always wanted pearly white teeth. Maybe my obsession with having white teeth came from watching too much trashy reality tv. The cast always have very white teeth on those programs. That could be why I am always in the pursuit of extra white teeth.

I know most of these celebs go for teeth whitening with Invisalign. I read that somewhere anyway. However, the treatment option has never been offered to me, and if it is offered, I know I will be turning down. I hear it is a lot of money to get them done and to be honest, I don’t think I need that much work done. Great dental clinics like this Whitby dentist, do offer affordable payment plans for those who need it. So if you are interested in having your teeth whitened, don’t let the price tag scare you. Do your research and find out the best payment plan for your budget.

My Teeth Whitening Experience

I have had my teeth whitened twice now. The first time was in 2012. I had it done at a very posh private clinic and I was very happy with the results. I was given home kits to take away with to use for about 2 weeks. My teeth went many shades whiter! I was so impressed!  For £200, it was money well spent in my eyes! I didn’t have to deal with teeth sensitivity at all, which was great too.

As the years have gone by, with all the eating and drinking. I needed to have a top up session done. So I booked a teeth whitening session with our dentist some months ago. I paid a bit more than £200 this time. I had a teeth whitening session for 1 hour at the clinic, and I was given a teeth whitening kit to use for 3 days at home. However, this experience was so different from my first. I felt the 1 hour teeth whitening session at the dentist was not as effective. There was little or no difference. I didn’t notice any difference but the dentist did.

The home kit given to me was also very difficult to use. It made my teeth so sensitive, I had to stop using it. I didn’t have this issue the first time I had my teeth whitened, so I found this new experience very confusing. It is frustrating that the money spent looks wasted.

I will probably look at having my teeth whitened again in future but I need to be able to see a clear difference.

Have you ever had your teeth whitened before? Were you happy with the results?

Are Lip Fillers Safe?

Lip fillers are in vogue now. Almost every woman is spotting full lips. If in doubt, just check out the likes of Kylie Jenner and her Kardashian sisters. Their lips look bigger and bigger every time I spot them.

Recently, I have been hearing a lot of reports on the long-term effects of some of our beauty products on our skin. As someone who is very particular about skincare and ensuring healthy beauty routines, I got thinking about women who use lip fillers.

The latest trend is to have bigger and fuller lips. Women believe that having their lips modified to achieve that look will make them appear more appealing.

In response to the increasing demand for the signature full lips, more women have turned to dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons to get injected with lip fillers. But are they safe? Here are some of my findings.

Lip Fillers could cause sagging lips

Who would have thought the consequences of having lush beautiful lips would be to see them sag in the end? The substance used in lips fillers is Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Although its effects are only temporary, filling your lips with Hyaluronic Acid causes your tissues to expand as the substance fills in the space. This is what gives your lips the plump look.

Once the Hyaluronic Acid wears off, the stretched skin where the substance once filled begins to sag. As you keep having your lips injected the space gets filled and your lip tissues expand again. The more your lips stretch with each fill, the more your lips sag as the Hyaluronic Acid fades away.

The most effective solution to your sagging lips is a lip reduction surgery to help remove the excess skin from all the stretching.

Prolonged swelling

For some women, the procedure for having fuller lips is easy and uneventful. However not many women respond to lip fillers very well. Some women experience allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid, which can result to their lips being swollen for 10 days or even more. Sometimes the swelling is accompanied with itchiness.

These reactions can be extremely disturbing so you need to check to see if you’re allergic to Hyaluronic Acid before having the lip fillers done.

Irregularity in the shape of your lips

This may be one of the most discouraging aspects of using lip fillers. Although some women are lucky enough to have their lips filled by experienced dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons, some women are not that lucky. Some women end up with lumps in their lips instead of having a natural fuller shape. Some women experience an irregularity in the shape of their lips – one side of their lip looking larger than the other, thereby throwing their lips off-balance.

Luckily I don’t need lip fillers, so this is one beauty enhancement I won’t be trying for sure. However, if you are contemplating having your lips done, please do your research properly. Make sure you go to a professional to get the lip filled properly.

6 Beauty Products Men Hate

Beauty products men hate image

I always wondered what men thought about all the effort we put in making ourselves look glamorous. So I did a bit of digging. I asked a few men on what they thought of some of the beauty/makeup products we used and here are the products men love to hate.

Lip gloss

In an attempt to make our lips look nice and healthy, we apply lip balm. Sometimes we want to make them more presentable and give our lips a bit of a shine by applying lip gloss.

Although lip gloss looks very appealing to us women, men don’t like them very much. They find lip gloss very sticky and hate how it tastes as well, when they go for a kiss.

Dark lipstick

Dark lipsticks are in vogue and it has become very common to see women with blue, deep purple and even black lipstick. Although we find dark lipstick appealing and stylish, many men don’t understand the idea behind such unnatural colours. Unfortunately for us ladies, men have been heard to make fun of our dark coloured lipsticks.

Hair extensions

Sometimes we need a little help when it comes to having good-looking hair. Due to hair damage, weak hair and the desire to have long hair, some of us go for hair extensions for the needed hair boost.

When you choose the right shade and have it fixed properly, hair extensions can look very appealing. However, this is another one the guys don’t seem to like much. When they run their hands through your hair and find their fingers get stuck in the parts where you attached the hair extensions it can be a big turn off for them.

Fake eyelashes

Fake eyelashes are another one on the list of beauty products men hate. We love and admire long beautiful eyelashes as they make one’s eyes look more alluring. And when we apply mascara, they make the eyes more distinct and gorgeous.  That is why women rush to fix fake eyelashes to get that desired look, if the natural eyelashes do not do the work. But men claim to hate it.

Glittery Eye shadow

You know the eye-catching glittery eye shadow we apply on those really fun days when we feel like trying something a little different? Glittery eye shadow adds glam to your outfit and makes you look amazing. However, some men claim to hate this particular type of makeup.

Fake nails

When we are feel like having a good pamper session, we usually go for a manicure and a pedicure. Fixing fake nails also adds to the whole glam. I used to be a huge lover of fake nails. I used to have them done regularly before I had my twins. But since I became a mother, I can’t be bothered to get the nails done.

Beautifully painted nails always look wonderful, but some men claim to have an issue with the fake nails.

According to my research, these are the beauty products men hate. What do you think of them? Did any surprise you?
