Product Review/Swatches – NYX & Barry M Lipsticks

Hey peeps. I finally decided to try some drug store lipsticks. I know I have talked about doing this for sometime now, so I popped into my local Boots, and had a good look around, then finally settled on a NYX Matte Indie Flick Lipstick and a Barry M Lip Stain Paint in Eternal Coral.

NYX Matte Indie Flick Lipstick

This is my first time trying a NYX lipstick.  I have heard quite  a lot about the NYX makeup range, and seen a lot of YouTube reviews and blog pots about the brand, so I knew I had to try it for myself. I must confess the price put me off at a first, it goes for £6.50, and I am use to spending £15 and over for 1 lipstick, so I thought this won’t be good enough, but I am happy to announce that I was pleasantly surprised.

Here is what NYX has to say about their lipsticks:

NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put with a non-drying matte finish.

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

  1. I love the colour a lot. It is perfect for summer.
  2. It is so matte, but doesn’t dry out my lips like other matte lipsticks.
  3. It is a great price for the quality of lipstick.
  4. It is long-lasting, even without a lip primer. It stayed on for hours.
  5. I love the cute packaging, with the see through plastic. I think it is so cute.

CONS

None.

I LOVE this lipstick. I think I am sold on anything NYX now, let’s see.

Barry M Lip Paint Eternal Coral

This is my first time trying a Barry M lipstick. I have heard and seen a lot of Barry M makeup in stores, but like my previous issue with NYX, the price was my issue. I struggled to believe a £4.49 Barry M lipstick would be as good as a £15.50 MAC lipstick, so I never bothered with them until now.

Here is what Barry M has to say about their lipsticks:

New Stain Paint provides a rich velvet matte finish for long, long, long-lasting colour. Available in three amazingly long-lasting lip staining shades, discover Barry M’s new LipStains in their shining new silver packs – Absolute Burgundy, Eternal Coral and Infinite Pink.

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

  1. I love the Eternal Coral shade. It is so different from all my other lipsticks.
  2. It is super affordable.
  3. It moisturises the lips perfectly.

Barry M Eternal Coral Stain

CONS

  1. It has more of a butter finish than matte finish.
  2. I am a matte kind of girl, and this lipstick is not matte enough for me.
  3. The colour is a little too light for my liking. I had to apply and reapply quite a few times, to get the colour to pop out.

Overall, I will recommend both lipsticks. For the price you pay, they are really worth it, especially the NYX lipstick. I will definitely be buying that again and shopping more from the brand.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? What do you think of them? Sound off in the comment section.

Beauty Treatments I Want Update

Fashion and Style Police

I wrote about beauty treatments I wanted to try some weeks ago. If you missed that post, check out the link above.

Well, this is an update to that post. I have tried the Cryotherapy treatment again. This time I had it on my face, and I even got a face and neck massage alongside, whoop whoop. This last treatment was a lot better than my first Cryotherapy treatment. There was a huge noticeable difference in my skin tone after the treatment. It is definitely worth every penny.

I am still undergoing my laser hair removal treatments as you all know, and that is going well too, but I am yet to sort out the teeth whitened top-up, so hopefully that will be sorted at some point this year, crossing my fingers and my toes. It is not like compulsory I have a teeth whitening top-up, but it will be nice to have it done.

Another new beauty treatment I have on my mind is the stretch marks removal treatment.  I got quite a couple now since child-birth, they do not bother me too much as they are barely visible, but it will be nice to have them removed. I came across this YouTube video, explaining the laser stretch mark removal treatment, and how straightforward and pain free it is.

I will definitely be looking into having this treatment done, and I am delighted I won’t have to go through pain to be stretch marks free. I think many people think anything ‘laser’ will be painful but that is so not true and I wonder why many think that way. Anyways, there are a couple of clinics offering this treatment at the moment, especially in London. A quick Google search – stretch mark removal in London, for example, will bring up many options.

Another beauty treatment I will want to have some time soon is acupuncture. For those who do not know, Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine in which fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes. I have had acupuncture treatments quite a few times in the past and I found it very relaxing. I am hoping to slot in a few sessions at some point this year, so wish me luck.

So there you have them. The beauty treatments I am currently lusting over. Have you tried any of this treatments? Drop me a comment, let’s chat.

Thanks for reading.

My Laser Hair Removal Journey: The Fourth Session

My Laser Hair Removal Journey: The Fourth Session

Laser Hair Removal Manchester Image

Hey peeps. If you have been following my laser hair removal journey, then you will know all about what stage I am at with my treatment, and this lovely green chair, where all the magic happens. Well if you didn’t know, you know now (wink wink). This is my fourth session, I am having my chin hair permanently removed, through laser treatment, at Laser Chic Manchester, and it is going extremely well. I had really coarse hair on my chin, but it has gone really fine and thin now, and the new growth that comes up weeks after the treatment is almost invisible to the naked eye.

This session went as normal, the lovely Seti, the clinic owner, wiped my makeup off my chin, and then the laser machine got to work. The heat on the machine was increased in order to get to the very thin hairs on the chin, so it was slightly more uncomfortable than my previous sessions, but it was still very bearable. The treatment was over in less than 10 minutes, and then the Janssen Cosmetics Sensitive Skin Complex was applied to the chin to cool off.

I am loving the fact that my chin will be hair-free in a couple of weeks, and I can’t wait. I have two more sessions which I will be having within the next 8 weeks, and I am so excited.

I think most women are uncomfortable talking about their body insecurities, whether it is facial hairs, stretch marks or other skin problems, and will shy away from even telling themselves they need to sort out whatever the insecurities might be, and I get that many people think laser treatment is kind of harmful and will hurt like hell, and they are so wrong. There is nothing harmful about laser treatments as long as it is done at the right clinic, and yea it could hurt, depending on what your pain threshold. I find it a tiny bit uncomfortable, like a sting, but definitely not as painful as waxing or threading, so if you can wax or thread, then you can undergo laser treatment.

**I received the treatment in exchange for a review but all words are MINE.
