April 2016 Outfits*

So April was quite an interesting month as far as outfits were concerned. I had fun styling various pieces. I went out of my comfort zone with some outfits, but I had fun shooting every outfit post. My wardrobe is gradually transitioning into spring/summer style, and I am loving it, but sometimes I feel like I brought out my spring/summer pieces too soon. It feels like it is still winter some days. I even had to put the heating back on. Well, I hope as we step into the month of May, the sunshine and warmth steps along with us.

OOTD: Back to the Roots

Back to the Roots Picture

I love this outfit a lot as it represents a bit of my African roots. I enjoyed styling this outfit. It took me outside my comfort zone, as I hardly wear African prints these days. It felt good to rock this beautiful skirt without tights. Not sure I can try that at the moment, as it is currently a lot colder, but will do once it gets warmer.

OOTD: A Textured Dress & a Biker Jacket

Textured Dress Image

April was the month of dresses and skirts. I wore a lot of them and it felt good to take a much deserved break from my usual jeggings/leggings. This textured dress and biker leather jacket was popular with the readers. In fact, it was the second most popular outfit post (Back to the Roots above was the first) for the month of April. Maybe because many found the outfits relatable?

OOTD: Fashion and Style Police Has a Tshirt

White T-shirt Image

Yes she does and I am looking forward to wearing this personalised tshirt all summer. Many of you may wonder why I am always hiding behind a big pair of sunglasses most times. Apart from the fact that I love rocking sunglasses, I find them so stylish, I am also short-sighted, so I have contact lenses most times, and my eyes don’t do well in the sun at all. It gives me headaches, because I have to squint and strain my eyes, so it is a lot easier to pop some sunglasses on. That is what they are really meant for anyways, and I thank God for whoever invented them. They are lifesaver.

Speaking of contact lenses, they can be quite expensive, so I tend to look for deals and buy them in bulk. Vision Direct is now offering a huge range of daily contact lenses from only £9.98 for lenses including Focus Dailies, Dailies Aquacomfort Plus, Soflens Dailies and 1 Day Acuvue at the best possible price. You also get a free next day delivery on orders over £49 and a free reminder! Isn’t that great?

This offer is valid until 31 May, and it is for new customers only, so get in there and thank me later.

I love EVERYTHING about this look. The shoes (best shoes ever), the lace dress, the bracelets, the sunglasses, everything.I have a couple of events planned for the year, and I can picture these beauties making an appearance. I am in love with this look.

OOTD: How to Style a Black Dress

Black Dress Picture

Many fell in love with this look and I can now see why. It is because many could relate to it. It is a simple, girl next door look and it works. I must confess, I didn’t think it was all that until the post went live and the comments started flying in both online and offline. It has become my favourite look for April.

So there you have them, my 5 outfits for the month of April.

What do you think of the looks? Which is your favourite outfit?

Drew Barrymore Covers Marie Claire June 2016

June-Cover-No-Barcode-HIGH-RES

The stunning and talented Drew Barrymore is on the cover of Marie Claire June 2016 cover, looking all shades of beautiful. I casually came across this cover on Twitter, and it caught my eye immediately. I haven’t seen Drew in a while, so this cover was a pleasant surprise. I love the fact that she is looking so good.I am loving the hair and the makeup, the bold lips wins, and the floral print she has on is so pretty.

I can clearly see myself grabbing a copy of this issue. I have loved Drew Barrymore since I saw her in the movie – ET. I have followed her amazing career since then and she never fails to impress me. She is a terrific actress, extremely talented. I am a huge fan, can you tell?

A couple of the features on the cover look promising. I would obviously want to read about everything Drew Barrymore has to say about building a business empire; I see myself building one, and I need every advice I can get. The Beauty Looks You Would Love and Summer Fashion Fever look like interesting articles. I bet they would be good reads. I love reading anything fashion or beauty related, information overload does not exist in my dictionary.

COVER-FEATURE

I am loving this pose a lot. It would have been interesting to see how this would look on the cover. In this issue, Drew Barrymore will also be discussing fame and fortune, friends, making an effort and her perfect twenty-four hours in the interview, so it sounds like an interesting interview. However, what I would love to know is how she maintains her youthful appearance. She could pass for a 30-year-old any day, and she is in her forties.

What do you think of Drew Barrymore? Are you a fan? Will you be buying this issue? Drop me a comment, lets chat.

Thanks for reading and have an amazing bank holiday weekend, if you are in the UK.

Menswear Style at BAFTAS 2016

With the 2016 TV BAFTA awards ceremony coming up on May 8th, many of us can’t wait to see who is wearing what on the red carpet. I will be paying special attention to the fellas this year, as most of them always look so dapper. Some of the men I LOVE seeing on the red carpet because of their brilliant sense of style are – Idris Elba, Leonardo Dicaprio, Michael Fassbender, amongst others.

Some of the famous looks these stylish men are usually spotted rocking on the red carpet are can be achieved from shopping at House of Fraser.

Here are some male style ideas for inspiration:

The Smart Commuter Wear

Smart Commuter Suit

This look is a regular on the red carpet. Most men go for this smart commuter look, as it is a safe option. The well-known comedian; Peter Kay from the BBC sitcom – Peter Kay’s Car Share, usually goes for this look and looks very smart rocking it. Likewise, property developer Simon Foster from the gripping psychological TV drama – Doctor Foster, is often seen in a shirt, trousers and blazer.

The Formalwear specialists Skopes Palmer, have made this outfit super comfortable to wear thanks to its high wool content, water repellency, stain resistant coating, two-way stretch, and its unique odour resist `Fresh Finish’. It is a perfect suit for the red carpet, work and everyday use in general. No wonder the celebs love it!

The Smart Casual

The smart casual look is very easy to achieve. All you will need to nail this look is a formal shirt – blue, black, white or red would look fab, and tuck it into a pair of some nice denim designer jeans and put on a blazer in a similar colour with your jeans, and you are good to go.

One of the UK’s leading artisan bakers, and celebrity chef; Paul Hollywood from BBC TV show – The Great British Bake Off, is also known for regularly stepping out rocking a smart casual outfit. This look can take you from the office, straight to the pub/bar easily.

The Trench Coat Look

Mens Trench Coat Image

Having a trench coat on definitely adds more style points to your fashion sense. Men’s trench coats have the power to upgrade your overall look for the better. No wonder it is loved by the celebs. Benedict Cumberbatch from the crime drama TV series – Sherlock, is usually seen on the streets of London and beyond wearing his trusty trench coat.

What do you think of the 3 looks? Which is your favourite?
