Sleep Well Shop Well Event

Last week Friday, I attended my first blogging event ever and it was fun. This Manchester event was organised by Premier Inn and Propellernet, and hosted by Megan from Pages by Megan, but before I go any further, I want you to take this yummy right in. It was sooooooooo delicious.

Dessert Fumo Manchester

So last week Friday, I fought my way through the rush hour traffic in a cabbie and got to Premier Inn on Dale Street Manchester for around 7pm. Immediately I stepped into the hotel, I knew it was going to be a fun event. I was blown away by how beautiful and organised the reception was. A nice young man helped me with the check in, and off I went to the 11th floor to drop my bags and get ready for the evening.

I met the rest of the girls at the bar in the hotel and off we went to San Carlo’s Fumo for dinner and some chit-chat. The food and wine were amazing, I ate all sorts of tasty dishes, if food could kill, I would be dead by now. Like seriously, the food was amazing and the waiters just kept bringing more food, whenever we thought we were done, they just appeared with some more food. It was an amazing dinner, the DJ was killing it with great tracks, I couldn’t ask for more really. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food and a great time in Manchester

Excuse the picture heavy post, but I just had to photograph some of the yummies I had the pleasure of eating.

Once we were done at the restaurant, I was happy to return to my Premier Inn room, and enjoy my very comfy bed.

The next day, I was up bright and early to get some breakfast, and off we went to the famous Arndale Shopping Centre for some shopping sponsored by the lovely people at Propellernet. I got a jumper from H&M, some stylish Christmassy pyjamas from Next, and pairs of leggings from Select. Boring I know, but I had gaps in my wardrobe to fill, so there you go.

The “Sleep Well Shop Well” event was amazing, I had a great time in Manchester, and I recommend anyone looking to shop or wine and dine in Manchester, to stay in a Premier Inn, you are sure to find one around .

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.

Autumn Lipstick Swatches & Reviews

Makeup

It should come as no surprise that all the lipsticks featured in this post are MAC. I think most of their products are great, and my makeup bag is a living proof of that. I will be test the waters and try other popular beauty brands I have not had the privilege of trying like Urban Decay, Charlotte Tilbury, NARS and the rest.

With the weather getting colder, and the nights getting longer, this is a perfect time to introduce some dark tones to your makeup. I use a change in season as an excuse to shop who doesn’t, so I have gone all out to update my makeup bag and its contents. Here are the MAC lipsticks in my collection for Autumn:

Ruby Woo

Ruby Woo Swatch

This is one of my favourite lipstick shades. It is a perfect shade of red, great for a night out or day time, and it looks amazing on me, and every other lip I have seen wearing it. It shines beautifully in pictures, so you will usually catch me photographed, wearing this amazing lipstick. It is also long-lasting, stays on for hours, I can’t fault this lipstick.

Ruby Woo

I think every woman should have a Ruby Woo lipstick. It is not the best-selling lipstick for no reason.

Pink Nouveau

MAC Pink Nouveau

This bright Barbie pink lipstick is the least favourite of all my MAC lipsticks. I don’t like the shade on me, not sure what I was thinking when I bought it. It has a satin finish, and it is too young, too girly.

Pink Nouveau

All I will say is, try this lipstick or any other lipstick on your lips BEFORE you buy. The swatches do not give you a good idea of how it would look like on your lips. Your lips and your skin are very different, trust me, I learnt the hard way.  I wish I could return it, but since I can’t, it will just remain one of those lipsticks that hardly get used.

MAC Film Noir

Film Noir

This Film Noir lipstick is another case of me not knowing what I was thinking when I bought it.  I wanted a dark/chocolate shade for the autumn/winter months, and I thought this would look good on my lips but I was so wrong. It looked amazing when I swatched it on my arm, by when I tried it on at home, I knew I had made a big fat mistake.

MAC Film Noir

This satin Film Noir is way too dark (another satin lipstick I don’t like, think I am a matte kind of girl), it doesn’t stay on well, even after using a lip primer and after blotting. I also found it quite patchy, not sure what I would do with this, the search of the perfect dark lipstick continues…….

MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus

Viva Glam Swatch

This Viva Glam Miley Cyrus shade is my favourite lipstick at the moment. At first, I wasn’t too sure about it, but the more I used it, the deeper I fell in love with it. It has a matter finish but looks glossy, which I love, I also the hot pink colour, perfect for day and night, and it is so long-lasting.

Viva Glam 1

I get loads of compliments when I wear this lipstick .I love it.

MAC Lipsticks

I have realised I prefer lipsticks with a matte finish so I will be getting more of these type of lipsticks.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks before? What are your thoughts? Drop me a comment, let’s chat.

Product Review: SBC Collagen 3-in-1

SBC

I am still in the pursuit of the perfect skin care routine, which means I try loads of skin and beauty products every month. So when I had the opportunity to review the Simply Beautiful Collection/SBC Collagen 3-in-1 and face shammy (cleansing cloth), and I was eager to try it out.

Here is what SBC has to say about this product:

A versatile and effective triple action cleanser that removes all traces of make-up, dirt, oil and impurities, gently lifts away eye make-up and mildly exfoliates for a softer, smoother and brighter complexion. Especially recommended for mature, dull and dry skin types.

*This Cleanser comes with a Pink Skin Shammy – Face Cloth

*Contains Soluble Collagen (Oceagen®) which is a protein derived from Fish – Information for those that are Vegetarian or Vegan

Here are my thoughts:

PROS

  1. I love the packaging, and the pump makes it easy to use, and leaves no messes.
  2. I love the fragrance and the creamy texture of the product.
  3. I love the fact that is a multi-tasking/versatile product. No need to buy a cleanser, a make-up remover and an exfoliator separately, when you can just have this one product that does all.
  4. It is quite affordable at £25 for the 250ml, but it can be found cheaper on QVC for £21.54 and Amazon for £14.99.
  5. I like the soft feeling of the shammy cloth on my skin.

SBC Cleanser

CONS

  1. I had full on makeup on, and it didn’t get it all off. I used quite a few pumps and gave up.
  2. I have a combination skin, and this product left my skin feeling very oily. So if you have an oily or combination skin, I won’t recommend it.

Overall, I find the product OK and I would recommend it for mature, dry and dull skin types.
