5 Ways To Style Your Boots

Lunar Booties

The autumn/winter season is here again, and that means we got our coats, jumpers, scarves, snoods, sweaters and boots out ready to get our layering groove on. This is such a fun season for the fashionistas, as well as for the ‘ordinary people’ like us. I look forward to this season because I find the layering trend very stylish and comfortable. The colours of the season are some of my favourites as well, so I am loving the pieces and accessories in stores at the moment. It did take me a while to get a hang of it, but once I understood how it worked, I now enjoy dressing up during the cold months.

I love my Boots especially, I have been building my collection, and I have quite a few now; the one above, Suri Long Boot is a new addition from Lunar shoes. I love the suede look, and the small heel makes it very practical. You will be seeing more of this beauty in an outfit post, so keep your eyes peeled.

I find Boots very versatile, they make dresses and skirts wearable during the cold months, and they add a touch of glam to jeans or leggings. Here are 5 tips for you to remember when next you want to rock a pair of boots:

  • Wear short skirts or dresses with a stiletto thigh high boots, or flat heel boots with a mini. This looks are more covered, and remember your tights!

  • When rocking fuller skirts, make sure the hem of your skirt, falls just over the top of the boots. It looks more pulled together.

  • If you do not like to dress up too warm, pair your tall boots with lighter pieces – skirts and dresses. The boots would keep you warm, and you get some wear out of your lighter pieces during the cold season.

  • Pair your tall dark boots with the same colour for your jeans or leggings. So if you are wearing a black pair of boots, pair it with a black pair of jeans or leggings. This look makes your legs appear even longer.

  • Wear ankle booties with trousers for a more formal look. They slip under the pants quite easily, and appear more formal.

Female Body Shapes: The Pocket Rocket Shaped Woman

Kylie-Minogue-GQ-Men-of-the-Year-Awards-in-London-020

So last week, I wrote about the Balcony Shaped Woman, if you missed that post, catch up here.

This week is all about the Pocket Rocket Woman. I never knew such a shape existed until I started researching the various female body shapes and that is one of the things I love about the Female Body Shapes series, it opens my eyes to facts I never knew.

The Pocket Rocket-shaped woman is petite and curvy – some of these women are blessed with very sexy hourglass measurements on their miniature frames,  celebrities like Kylie Minogue and Elizabeth Taylor are examples of the Pocket Rocket curvy woman. Others like  Natalie Portman, Clara Bow, and Norma Desmond have less symmetrical proportions.

Here are the DOs and DONTs of this shape:

DOs

  1. Keep your accessories small and simple so they don’t overshadow you
  2. Go for fitted pieces to show off or create curves
  3. Opt for high heels to give you an illusion of a longer frame
  4. Go for colour block outfits, they make the body appear longer
  5. Go for V-neck pieces, they give the illusion of a longer body
  6. If hats are right up your street, go for hats with small proportions
  7. Embrace your style with custom accessories.

Tips:

Since their development in the 1960s, pin badges are still an evergreen element of the fashion industry. Custom pin badges are as much about self-expression as they have trending. It is common to see them on red carpets, catwalks, fashion week street shoots, and as regular items of luxury brands. And it can even be preserved as a collection!

DONTs

  1. Avoid maxi skirts and dresses, they will make you appear shorter.
  2. Avoid wearing any bold pattern or colour for the same reason listed above.
  3. Stay away from dungarees and shorts, it will make you look like a child.
  4. Stay away from ponchos, they will swallow up your small frame instantly.

Are you a pocket rocket woman? What do you think of this body shape? Sound off in the comment section. Thanks for reading.
