Self-care this Autumn

We woke to a very dark morning today. The kids had to double-check with me that it was actually morning. I guess it would take us some time to get use to the dark autumn/winter mornings. This season is all about self-care. I will be spending more time indoors naturally, so I intend to make the most of it. Here are a few things I will be doing this season.

Manicures/Pedicures

I will be getting my nails done at home, thanks to these lovely LOLA Neptune and Gothica Nail Vanishes. I really like the shades. They are great for the season.

These LOLA’s nail polishes have been formulated with Expert Gel III technology which is especially engineered to deliver fluidity, as well as high gloss and resistant wear. I love how easy it is to apply these shades. I am usually not a nail polish lady, but I am making an exception with these beauties. Plus, it is a way to give myself a little loving this season.

Good Sleep

With the longer nights and shorter days, I know I will be sleeping more this season. I am usually sleep deprived most of the time because I work late into the night once the kids are in bed. When I do get to bed, usually past midnight, I sometimes struggle to fall asleep and I wake up feeling very grumpy.

Benenox Image

I have been taking Benenox just before bedtime and it has improved my sleep greatly. I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to make the most of the day. It is a great sleep aid. Just like an overnight recharge.

Benenox is great for anyone who struggles to get decent sleep. A 15ml of Benenox is all you would need to aid quality sleep. It comes in Blackcurrant and Lemon & Ginger flavours. You can grab yours on Amazon or at Tesco.

Good Food

I plan to do a lot more cooking and baking this season. Prior to having kids, I baked a lot but I kind of fell out of love with baking. Maybe because I am usually too drained to bake! I have a few baking recipes I will be trying in the next few weeks, thanks to the many food blogs I read.

Tiana Coconut Image

I have been using this Tiana Cooking Butter for some days now, and I am loving it. We used it while grilling some potatoes the other day, and I must confess it is one of the best cooking butters I have used in a long time. It is a great substitute for cooking oils. I love the smooth creamy texture and the fact that it has no coconut taste at all!

What do you think of these products? Have you used any of them? How will you be having some self-care this autumn? Please share your ideas in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading.

10 Ways to be Happy Instantly

When life throws lemons at you, you take the lemons and make some lemonade! That has always been my way of going through life and dealing with things. I refuse to dwell on negatives and I make the most of what I do have. But then again, let’s be real. It can be very hard sometimes to be happy and stay happy. Now that I look back at most of the things I worried about and what kept me up at night, there was no need for the worry. I wish I knew that back then.

Here are 10 ways to be happy instantly, if you want.

Count your Blessings

Counting my many blessings always makes me so happy. I could be having a bad day, but once I start to list my blessings one by one, I remember how lucky I am. I try to write down 10 things I am grateful for every week and it lifts my mood instantly.

Speak with a Loved One

I like to speak with my close friends and family when I feel low. It boasts my mood instantly and reduces my stress levels. A good chit-chat is always good.

Play with the Kids

Playing with my kids always leaves me feeling good and drained. Whenever I feel low and frustrated, I just ignore the work and chores, and play with them. I enjoy seeing the world through their eyes.

Say a Prayer

I like to say a prayer whenever I feel unhappy. Praying about whatever is troubling me helps to put my mind at ease. It works every time.

Exercise

Exercise helps me feel amazing. A good workout puts me in a fantastic mood. I am currently on top of my fitness routine thanks to the very useful GymCube fitness website. It has been a lifesaver as I can work out conveniently anytime from the comfort of my home, and feel amazing. I am working on strengthening and defining my body, and I am beginning to notice the difference already. You can join me on my fitness journey with GymCube. There are various packages available, so go have a look on the website.

Listen to Music

Music is like food to my soul. I have always been a huge lover of music. I love listening to my African Jams, Pop, Country, Rhythm & Blues, and even country. Music has the power to lift my mood.

Be Kind to Someone

Being extra nice to someone makes me very happy. I like putting a smile on as many people’s faces as possible. Making others happy makes me happy.

Plan a Holiday

Having an upcoming holiday makes me feel very giddy. The adrenaline rush I get just thinking about vacations planned is the best thing ever! It puts me in a happy mood instantly.

Eat a good happy meal

Eating a good meal puts me in a great mood. The saying – A hungry woman is an angry woman, is so true.

Keep Smiling

Like I said in the beginning of this post, regardless of how I feel, I don’t dwell on the negatives. I like to wear a smile on my face and be happy.

How do you stay happy?

I love uploading selfies every now and again. I enjoy taking them and I think it is great  to take a few selfies wearing autumn hats, gloves and scarves! Have a look at designer womenswear brand Ralph Lauren’s online style guide for more ideas on the pieces and accessories you should be wearing and sharing for autumn 2017.

A bright night sky

Make the most of upcoming seasonal events. You could attend a firework display on the 5th of November! You could also get some great Halloween decoration shots! Capture all of the action on your phone and upload to your feed.

Picture pumpkin

Pumpkins make great shots! You can either carve them or stack them up to create a beautiful post. So make the most of the season, and get those pumpkin photos uploaded on Instagram.

When it comes to fashion, Instagram is the place to be. I get a lot of daily fashion inspiration on Instagram, and I enjoy sharing my outfit posts too.  This autumn, why not share some outfit posts? Just make sure you pick the picture perfect outfit!

A touch of frost

Instagram is a great platform to show off your photography skills. Capturing the perfect shot of glistening, pretty frost will put your skills to the test, but the end result is well worth the effort!

The top trick

We all know cute animals can guilt trip people into liking a post. From pups in piles of leaves to robins on fences, who can scroll past those little faces? So if you have a pet, get those shots taken!

Muddy wellies

Autumn and rain go hand in hand, so get your wellies out and make the most of the muddy puddles. Remember to get your cameras ready to get some puddles shots!

Extravagant hot chocolates

Posting a picture of hot chocolate in summer might be a little weird, but with the cold weather coming in, you have the perfect opportunity for snapping that shot. Pile them high with cream and marshmallows for an envy-inducing autumn drink.
