Why spa treatments are good for you

If I had an unlimited budget, I would go for a spa treatment every weekend. The feeling I get after a good massage and facial is so amazing. A good spa treatment relaxes me, and gets me ready for whatever lies ahead. I don’t have as many spa treatments as I would want to but I try to book a treatment once a month most times.

I am always on the lookout for spas with deals and offers. I recently came across The Moroccan Spa marocMaroc at Urban Retreat, and I like the sound of the treatments offered. I will be exploring them further.

There are so many health and beauty benefits of spa treatments. So if you are thinking of treating yourself to a lovely spa treatment this autumn/winter, here are some reasons why you should go for it.

A good massage helps with circulation and decrease inflammation

A good massage has the power to calm you down and keep you relaxed, free from aches and pains. A good massage also improves blood flow throughout the body and general cardiovascular health. A good massage also helps boast a healthier immune system.

It helps the heart

The essential oils used in spa treatments does more than soothing and relaxing. Research has proven that the effects of a brief exposure to essential oils can also benefit the heart. It was also found to reduce blood pressure and the heart rate. However, research has also shown that the downside is after an hour of exposure to essential oils, people’s hearts begin to rebel and climb up again. So best to stick to an hour-long massage with lavender oil.

Soothes the aches and pains

Most of us are aware of this benefit, and this is one of the main reasons why I have regular spa treatments. A good massage soothes all my aches and a pains. As a busy working mum of 2, I am usually complaining of a back pain by the end of a crazy week. So having a massage session booked after a crazy week is usually the best thing ever!

Spa treatments are a bit of pampering

Sometimes in the middle of life’s hustle and bustle, we just need to sit back and let someone else do the pampering. That is also the main reason why I enjoy staying over at hotels and eating out. I am forever caring for and meeting the needs of others, so to be on the receiving end is amazing for my mental health.

Self-care is essential, and  we should take it more seriously. Spa treatments are a good way to get a bit of pampering. It is a great way of getting taken care of that is psychologically and culturally acceptable, and we can carry that feeling of being cared for with us for a period of time. Which would help us better with stress in the long run.

When last did you have a spa treatment? I know I am badly in need of 1.

What Makes a House a Home

We have been living in our home for almost 5 years now, and we are forever redecorating. This won’t be our forever home. I can clearly see us outgrowing this house in a few years, but it works perfectly for now. This house has now become our home, and I am so in love with it. So what makes a house a home? Here are the 5 things that I believe make a house a home.

The People

The people you share you house with make it a home. The kids, the pets, and the grown up playing house all have a role in making a house feel more than just where you lay your head. The housemates make a house a home.

The Memories

If you know me well enough, you would know how I dislike moving from house to house. I get really attached with anywhere I stay because I am forever making memories. So I avoid moving as much as I can. However, if I do have to move, I make sure to employ the professionals so it is done quickly. I will look out for fantastic estate agents like Featherstone Leigh, home movers, cleaners and all.

My sister recently moved into a very nice house in London some weeks ago, and I like how she went about it. She got professional movers to move all the furniture and get them all set up in the new house. Her entire move went as planned with no issues at all. That is how I would want my house move to look like when we do move.

The Noise

My house is super noisy thanks to my very loud toddlers. I am so used to the noise, that it still feels so weird at night when they are fast asleep, and the house goes dead quiet. Or during the day, when they are in preschool and I have some peace and quiet. Having said that, I won’t trade the noise for anything. I feel lost without the chatter and the noise.

The Smell

My home has a distinct smell. I am forever burning candles, and I have quite a few diffusers scattered around the house. I like my home smelling very nice. The smell reminds me when I wake, that this is my home.

Good Food

What makes a house a home? Good food. My daughter knows what meal we are having before she sees it. She has a strong sense of smell, and is usually spot on when she guesses her meals. The smell of good food makes a house a home. There is nothing better than coming home to the smell of something baking in the oven. For many of us, a house isn’t a home until it is cooked in.

Decluttering the Home this Autumn

Today is the first day of October. Autumn is well and truly here. Our heating just came up for the first time since last winter, so the chill is definitely in the air. I have been seriously thinking of decluttering the home this autumn. I am thinking of doing some minor redecorating, and I need to let a few things go. There are also a few minor home repairs that need to be done in time for winter.

I have been online searching for the right people to get the job done. I recently came across Rocburn – The Window Opener Specialist, and I will most likely be contacting at some point to get a quote.

However, before I get into the repairs, I need to get the house decluttered. Clutter gives me a headache, so the junk has to go. Once the unwanted items go, I have the space to breathe and think of what to do with the space I have.

I have 3 categories for everything we got, and each item has to fit into a category.

Keep

Anything worth keeping will be kept. Majority of my items fall into this category which is a good thing. It means I buy just what I need, and not just anything. Having said that, I will be very brutal with this pile. I will be keeping only items I am sure I will be using.

Sell

All items that wouldn’t be kept but in a good condition, would be sold or should I say, I would attempt to sell on eBay. I have not listed items to sell on eBay in ages, but I am hoping to find the time and get my selling mojo back. I also wish eBay could make the listing process a lot easier for us sellers.

Give to Charity

I have 3 charity bags ready to go as I type this post, and I would have more by the end of the month. I am forever giving away stuff to charity shops and I enjoy doing so. It is my way of giving back and it helps to declutter my home. What more could a girl ask for?

I plan to sort out piles this week, so I starting with a bang tomorrow. Wish me luck! Are you decluttering the home this autumn? What are your decoration/repair plans for autumn? Please sound off in the comments section, let’s chat.

Thanks for reading, commenting and sharing. Have an awesome week.
