Dubai Summer Holiday

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, then you would know I am currently in Dubai with the family for a summer vacation. We got here some days ago. It has been lovely so far. We have a huge apartment to ourselves at the lovely DoubleTree by Hilton Jumeirah Beach, with an amazing view and a private beach! I couldn’t ask for anything more. It is a perfect home away from home with huge rooms, a washing machine, massive fridge/freezer, kitchen, everything!

Coming from good old Cheshire, with the summer weather reaching a maximum of 30 degrees on a good hot day, Dubai’s weather reaching above 40 degrees is something. It is a good change from what we are used to so we are trying to make the most of it.

I am planning to hit the beach later today with kiddies and have been sorting out my swimwear essentials.  I did a lot of holiday shopping before we took off, so we could come prepared. I rarely have the opportunity to rock a good bikini in a 40 degrees weather, so I went all out shopping for some luxury ladies swimwear and some other summer beach holiday essentials.

I shopped Fat Face for the first time, and I got the hat and slippers, which have been so useful. I also got some last-minute suncream at a Boots shop because I forgot to carry mine.

I love Dubai so much. This is my third time visiting this amazing country, I was here last December for Christmas, and I know I would be visiting again. It is one of those countries you just don’t get tired of, for me anyway.

We will be visiting another country in the Middle East in the next few days before heading home, so it is going to be a chilled but busy week. I will be posting as regular as I can but the timing may be a little different, so look out.

Any plans for the summer? Have you visited Dubai before?

5 Essential Beauty Products to Take Camping

Summer is around the corner (ignore the weather if it’s still windy at your end), and most people are starting to get in the holiday mood. Well, I know I am. I have started thinking of what to do with the family this summer holiday. We have never been camping as a family, and I have not gone camping in years now, so going camping is on the to-do list.

Because it has been so long, I would have to refresh my memory with a handy camping guide, so I know what to expect. I know for sure, a new large camping tent will be needed, and I know the exact one I think we would need – Urban Escape 4 Man Tunnel Tent by Halfords. We will likely be needing a new puffy camping blanket as well.

But apart from the tent, I had to look up what else we would be needing for a family with 2 kids under 4. The kids love the outdoors a lot, so I know they will be so excited to go, but once the novelty wears off, they would need to be comfortable so we can all have a good time. I would also need some essential beauty products, or else I would start to miss home too.

Here are some essential beauty products to take camping –

Dry Shampoo

A dry shampoo is a necessity when camping. The last thing you would want to deal with when camping is smelly hair, so ensure you take a dry shampoo away with you. They are so easy to use, and very convenient to use, since you don’t have to rinse out.

Suncream for the entire family is a camping essential. I can’t imagine going camping without an SPF 30 waterproof suncream.

A strong deodorant is another camping beauty essential for me. The last thing I would want is to smell funky, so a good deodorant from a tried and trusted brand like Dove, would definitely be in my camping bag.

Wipes are beauty essentials for camping. I can’t imagine being without them. They are handy for wiping off makeup, cleaning hands and so on.

Tinted Lip Balm with SPF

I don’t bother much with makeup when camping, but having a lip balm would be great. A tinted lip balm with SPF would be fab for hydrating the lips, adding a bit of colour and for protecting the lips from the harsh sun rays.

Are you going camping this summer? What are your beauty camping essentials?

Staying Safe in the Sun

Fashion Blogger UK Image Picture

Summer is here, the weather is warm and grasses are green. It all looks so beautiful. Feeling the sun shining on my skin makes me feel alive, happy and positive, excluding the abnormal heat and hay fever that sometimes comes along with the sun. Everyone’s in the holiday mood. The kids love it too! Now that the weather is warmer, they always want to play outdoors. Which is great for us all, as they are usually knackered once we are done playing.
Summer is a lovely season, but this is also the season when we should be extra careful, since we be spending a good part of your time outdoors. We need to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays and, most especially, from heat stroke. As much as I enjoy the sun, I try my best to take precautionary measures against the harsh effects of the sun to my skin and health. Prolonged exposure to the sun can be extremely harmful to the body. It is one of the main causes of skin cancer so it is important we stay safe in the sun.

Here are some simple tips to remember this summer –
1.    Buy the Right Sunscreen and Apply It Regularly
Although the sun gives the body a nice dose of vitamin D, staying under the sun for a long time can result to sunburn which can be very painful. We need to protect our skin from the sun’s harsh UV rays with a sunscreen lotion with sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 or higher. The higher the SPF, the more your skin gets protected from the sun.
Make sure that your sunscreen has the words “broad spectrum” on it. This means that the sunscreen has the ability to protect you from the harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Another thing to note about your sunscreen is that it must be waterproof. Since we sweat more during the hot weather, waterproof sunscreen will stay longer on the skin, especially if we plan to go swimming outdoors and all. Apply sunscreen every 2 hours. If you have been swimming or sweating a lot, you’ll need to apply it more frequently. Be generous with the amount of sunscreen you apply on your body, especially the parts that are exposed to the sun.
2.    Cover Up as Much as Possible
I know how tempting it is to show off as much skin as possible during the warmer months, but the truth is, we need to protect our skin from the sun as much as possible. There are smart and stylish ways of going about this; go for light long-sleeved tops or a beautiful maxi dresses. Chiffon is a nice material for the summer. It’s light and flowing.  Cotton fabrics are also ideal because it allows for the free flow of air.

3.    Wear a Hat
Hats can be a wonderful fashion accessory as they look very stylish and add more charm to the outfit. Get a wide-brimmed hat. This will help shield your face and hair from direct contact of the sun.  This will prevent the hair moisture from drying out.
4.    Wear sunglasses
Don’t neglect your eyes! Get sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s rays. If you wear contact lenses like I do, make sure your contacts are specially designed to provide UV protection. I get mine from Boots Opticians. Done so for years now and the service has been second to none.
5.    Stay in the shade
The effect of the sun is particularly strong between 11am to 3pm. During this period stay in the shade as much as possible to protect yourself from the sun rays.

So there are tips for staying safe in the sun. Do you have any tips to share?
