How to Have An Intimate Wedding

*Collaborative post.

Many couples agree that when it comes to weddings; intimate and low-key beats a huge overly fussy event. Couples crave a more personal, intimate celebration with fewer people. It means that there’s more time for you to spend with your guests and really enjoy the day and everyone’s special contributions. So how do you have an intimate wedding? Check out these wedding tips below.

Set A Smaller Budget

You might want to maximise your budget by having a minimal number of guests. You might prefer a small and cosy lunch at your favourite restaurant with your nearest and dearest than a bland hall full of more than 200 guests that you don’t know very well. Potentially invite only immediate family to the ceremony and have a larger get-together for your friends and colleagues. It might be an idea to even serve smaller ‘finger-food’ plates instead of a lavish sit-down meal. A smaller wedding means not cutting corners, just to ensure that you have a larger turnout. It might be worthwhile considering cutting the guest list in half to ensure that you get all that you’ve envisioned on the day.

Go All-Out For Your Guests

A small wedding gives you the opportunity to really impress your guests. You can really roll out the red carpet for your guests and give them the VIP treatment. You could put together elaborate gift bags or luxurious spa treatments for them in the lead up to the big day. The limits really are endless. Keeping things small means that all the extra details, that just aren’t possible when the guest list exceeds several pages, are suddenly possible.

Don’t Forget The Details

When planning a small wedding day, be sure to give care when it comes to the finer details. It’s not necessary to hire a wedding consultant or specialist but be aware that tiny little hiccups that may have gone unnoticed at a much larger event will be glaringly obvious at a more intimate do.

Get Some Awesome Entertainment

A fabulous part of having an intimate wedding- everyone can get involved. With fewer people to worry about, you can really go to the effort of making them feel like they are truly a part of your special day and make sure that everyone is having a blast. Have A Destination Wedding

Take advantage of having a small number of your nearest and dearest and plan a destination wedding. Grab a cheap flight over to a Balearic beach or hire out a small cottage in the countryside for the weekend. Stretching out the festivities a few chilled days of eating, drinking and being merry, allows you to relax, and really bond with your guests.

The Kiddies Explore the City of London

The Kiddies have been reading about the City of London in school. So we decided to explore the buzzing city over the Spring break. We were in London and Essex for the 2 weeks holiday, and we had a lovely time. It was so much fun that it felt kind of weird coming back home to our usual routine. For our London tour, we decided to hop on a train to the centre of the city, starting off from Buckingham Palace. The twins are forever talking about the Queen and her guards, so we knew we had to see the Palace. I have never seen the palace in real life before, so I was excited about seeing it all too!

The trip was worth it. We had the opportunity to watch the guards move around and see the lovely in real life. The Kiddies were eager to see The Queen, and were a bit disappointed she wasn’t outside to receive them. We had to cook up a story to explain that, but they didn’t dwell too much on that thankfully. Seeing the stunning Palace was more than enough to satisfy them.

The whole area was filled with tourists as expected. It was hard work getting some pictures taken. But we made the most of our time there. Once we left Buckingham Palace, we walked into St James Park, and took in the green land. It is such a beautiful place to just sit and appreciate nature. Then we walked around the area and spotting London Eye, Big Ben and many red phone boxes, which the kids found fascinating.

Once all that was done, we decided to stop for a lunch break at a pub. It took ages to get a seat as it was literally packed with people. After like forever, we got a tiny table and quickly got something to nibble on.

After lunch, we got on a London Bus and headed to Tower Bridge. The London Red Bus was the highlight of the day for the kiddies. We went up to the top deck and they made sure we sat right at the front. It was fun just watching how excited they were about the little things.

Overall, we had a lovely time. We were very exhausted at the end of the day, as expected. Exploring the City of London requires a lot of walking, which left us really tired. But we wore comfy shoes and were ready to explore. The only issue I had was I was not dressed as warm as I would have liked.  It was quite cold on that day.  A lot colder than I expected. Luckily the Kiddies were dressed up so I didn’t have to worry about them. But I would have preferred to have my Uggs on and probably a wholly hat to protect me from the chill. It was freezing!

We will definitely be visiting London again. The Kiddies had an amazing time and we the grownups enjoyed ourselves as well.  I love visiting London every now and again. Even though I find the city overwhelming. It is so different from the little Cheshire village we call home.

How to Cope as a Freelancer by Ageing your Money

*Affiliate links.

I left traditional employment after having my twins, and I have been freelancing ever since. The decision of not going back to my old job after pregnancy was kind of made for me. Going back to my old job was not going to be worthwhile so I created jobs I could do from anywhere for myself. Being a freelancer/self-employed is not easy but it is worth it. I always weigh all options in life, and the pros of working for myself from home massively outweighs the cons, which is why I am still doing what I know how to do best.

How to cope as a freelancer by ageing your money

Coping financially as a freelancer has been a learning curve. I have had to learn how to ask for the right amount of money for what the job I do. I have also had to learn how to manage my money so it covers all my living expenses and a bit more. Having some kind of savings is important for every one of us, regardless of the work we do. But it is really important when you are working for yourself, as you really have no guaranteed income. The only income that is guaranteed is what you currently have in your bank account. It is very possible to not make £1 for a whole week, only to make as much as £1000 the next week. Which is why you have to learn how to age your money.

Ageing your money

Ageing your money is something I have always known about and I have put into practice for as long as I have been earning money. However, I became more aware of this after reading the Wall Street Journal Bestseller – You Need a Budget by Jesse Mecham, earlier in January. The book really resonated with me. It was so good, I couldn’t stop reading it. I finished reading the entire book on my Amazon Kindle within 3 days.

I picked up a lot of tips from this book and I recommend it to all business owners, freelancers, self-employed, and even those doing traditional jobs. The book opened my eyes to ways of really making my money work longer for me, and I picked up many vital tips that I have now implemented in my life.

The whole idea behind ageing your money is you not spending your income as soon as it hits your bank account. It can feel like a delaying tactic but it really works. All you need to do is to try it for a month and see the difference in your bank balance and your mental health. Ageing your money stops you from living pay check to pay check. It helps you get out of debt and stay out of debt.

Having a budget helps age your money

Having a budget helps you stay on top of your income and expenses. Your outgoings are all planned and you are in control of your finances. Being a freelancer means you never really know how much you would make from month to month, so having a realistic budget is important because it gives you that peace of mind.

My income varies from month to month. I have been freelancing for a few years, so I know on average the minimum I would make, so I plan my bills with that in mind. Also, I make sure I keep any extras I get for months when I am short. I age my money by spreading my bills so they all don’t go out in the same week. That way I am never short of cash, and I can keep aside payment for each bill weekly.

Ageing my money is how I am smashing my freelancing/self-employed world. It works great for me.
