Finding The Best Restaurants While Visiting NYC

*Collaborative post.

When you go out for a meal with family and friends you want to pick somewhere which will offer you more than something which is merely tasty. You should make the most of the experience and seek to try new foods and different cultures. After all, if you prepare a certain dish in your home, then why eat it when you leave the house? If you are visiting one of the many restaurants in NYC, then it undoubtedly means that you are going to be spending your money, and so you want to be spending it on something which is worthwhile; something memorable and enjoyable – something which you will be telling people about at work the next day.

Food Food Food

First and foremost, why not try food from a different country and experience a different culture? A lot of people shy away from trying something new because they automatically assume that they won’t like it. For instance, when it comes to Indian food, people assume that everything is spicy and suited to those who have a taste for all things hot. However, there are some fantastic dishes for those who like something milder, such as korma and pasanda. And these milder dishes aren’t just related to the main course, there are the likes of poppadoms and the cool fresh cucumber dip raita as well. After all, a restaurant’s menu will be suited to encompass dishes for all different taste buds and thus you are bound to find something you like.

Dine in a fine restaurant

It goes without saying that when you visit a restaurant the main component you need to have a memorable night is succulent food. However, it is not the only factor that goes into creating a great culinary experience in one of the restaurants in NYC. Imagine if you had a delicious meal, but were sitting in a boring, uninspiring and dirty restaurant with rude staff – your evening would be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Therefore, to really ensure you pick somewhere which will make for an exciting evening, you need to consider the restaurant’s atmosphere. Read reviews on the internet and get a feel for what people have said about the restaurant and whether the experience was a pleasant one.

The atmosphere is something which again links to trying food from different cultures and countries. This is because the restaurant is bound to incorporate traditional styles and adornments. Therefore the evening is intriguing and interesting as you get to experience something new in excess of the food. This is why it is advisable to seek family run businesses as well, rather than big mass chains which use generic design settings. Also, take the time to look for special offers and menus. Some restaurants offer theater menus for those last minute Broadway tickets. You can easily hunt down deals and discounts online.

All in all, when visiting one of the many restaurants in NYC you need to seek somewhere new, delicious and atmospheric in order to make it a night to remember.

The Best Family Road Trip Begins With A Plan

*Collaborative post.

With road trips representing 39% of US vacations, it comes as no surprise that British families are beginning to adopt the trend. Known for being a great way to spend time with your kids and hitting up all of the sights to see, road tripping is a great choice for many, no matter where you are in the world. However, if you’re thinking about taking your family on a road trip, having a plan beforehand can not only help the trip go more smoothly, but can ensure everyone will have a great time.

Planning ahead

When it comes to planning the best family road trip possible, it’s important to start early. Making lists, packing, and deciding what car you’ll take is imperative to having a smooth trip – and you’re going to need time to plan everything just so. Depending on where you want to go and what you want to do and see, it’s important to do your research as early on as possible to make sure you’re informed of possible entry fees, rules, regulations and opening hours of the places you want to visit – after all, the last thing you want is to get a nasty surprise on the day of your trip.

Making sure you bring along everything you will need is a must, including clothes, blankets and snacks. While a simple checklist can ensure that you don’t forget anything, it’s important that you begin packing at least four days to a week before you embark, depending on how long your trip is. And when it comes to packing for the children, allowing them to bring a small bag of toys can be a great idea for entertainment along the way – an in-car DVD player is also a good thing to think about, especially if your trip will be on the longer side.

The best places to go

On any road trip, it’s important to know where you’re headed – or at least know where you want to stop along the way. While there are many great places to visit, there are a few that really stand out when it comes to captivating the family, and can help give you some ideas when you’re mapping out a route.

Over an hour away from London, West Sussex is a great destination choice for any family planning a road trip this summer. Filled with history, West Sussex has plenty for your family to explore – including Arundel Castle – a restored castle from the medieval times. This trip is perfect for inquisitive children who like to learn, and is a great way for them to see a part of history in real life. However, if you’re looking for a more beachy road trip filled with swimming, fishing and the like, then look no further than a route through Cornwall, located in the southwest of Great Britain. This route is truly one with amazing scenery, as there is plenty to see and explore, from beaches to coastal trails. The seaside villages are a great stopping point, and allow for the perfect place to explore shops and restaurants.

Road trips can be a great vacation idea for any family – and planning one doesn’t have to be stressful. By planning and packing ahead of time and doing your research when mapping a route, you’ll be able to plan the perfect road trip that your family is sure to enjoy.

Free Summer Activities for Kids

School is shutting for summer in about 4 weeks, so it makes sense to have plans for the 6 weeks summer break. Money can be tight for many of us and let’s face, we all need free summer activities to keep the kids busy, regardless of how rich we may be. You can’t be on a beach or in a theme park every day for 6 weeks, so you have to think ahead of how to keep the little ones engaged.

I have lots planned for the summer holidays. As a work from home mum, working at home with the kids can be hard.  I will be planning lots of different activities and be fitting in work around our schedule, so everyone is happy.

Here are some free summer activities for kids we will be making the most of –

Go for walks

We love to go for walks. The kids enjoy being outdoors so we will be going for lots of long walks in our area.  There is something so refreshing about being outdoors especially when the weather is nice. It is a good way to get those steps in and stay fit. Plus, fresh air and sunshine does wonders for our state of mind so make the most of this free activity with the kids this summer.

Make the most of your garden space

Now I know I am so guilty of not making the most of our garden. We don’t use our garden as much as we should and that is going to change this summer. I am going to get fun stuff for the kids to play with and make the garden as child-friendly as possible. It is amazing how running around and playing can keep the kids so busy for hours.

Riding bicycles and scooters

We have spots in our estate where kids can ride their scooters and bicycles safely away from the road and cars. We are going to be visiting the spot quite regularly. I like being able to sit on a bench and watch the kids ride safely. It is another exciting activity for them to do outside the house, and it is free once you have the bike/scooter and safely accessories!

Visit your local playground

I will be visiting the local playground with the kids. Luckily for us, it is not far away from where we live, so we will be making the most of it. The kids enjoying playing on the slides, swings and the other rides. We can easily spend an hour there. A good spot to spend an afternoon.

Baking

For days when the weather is not playing nice, we will be baking indoors. The twins are very into baking now and are interested in the whole process. So, we will be doing a lot of baking this summer. It is a fun educative activity for the whole family.

Camping in the garden

Camping in the garden is on our list this summer. It is something we have never done but want to do, and I think the right time is the summer. We will be getting a tiny camping tent and all the necessary camping gear to make it as much fun as possible.

These are just some examples of free summer activities we will be doing this summer holiday. Of course, we will be doing other paid activities like soft play, theme park, visiting a farm, and the likes. But more of free activities, so a lot of thinking outside the box.

What plans do you have for the summer holiday? Please share them in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading.
