Activities to help you stay on top of your mental health

If 2020 has taught us one thing it is that our health is so important. Health is wealth and our mental health is as important as our physical health. Most times, our mental health leads the way for our physical health to follow, which is why we must pay attention to it to live a fulfilling life. If you are struggling with mental health issues, you should speak to your doctor as soon as possible. It is important to start treating mental health illness as soon as you spot them. Preventing mental health illnesses is easier than treating them, so it is important to stay on top of your mental health. Here are some activities to help you stay on top of your mental health –

Exercise

An easy way of staying on top of your mental and physical health is to exercise regularly. Having a good exercise routine helps a lot. I exercise every morning for about 30 minutes and I have noticed a massive difference in my overall health. You don’t have to exercise for 30 minutes every day to improve your health. I started off exercising for around 15 minutes and I increased it gradually as I went on.

Exercising regularly has a positive effect on anxiety, ADHD, depression, and more. A good exercise routine also improves memory, helps you sleep better, relieves stress, and boosts your overall mood.

Yoga

Our nervous system is directly tied to our mental health, and this is where yoga comes in. Yoga calms and centers the nervous system. It also relieves stress, reduces muscle tension, increases body awareness, and sharpens attention and concentration. Yoga is a self-soothing technique similar to exercising and meditation. It is definitely worth trying especially if you are struggling with your mental health.

Grounding/Earthing

Going for walks and runs definitely help. There’s something about being outdoors that improves the mood instantly. The fresh air and the change of scenery usually calm the mind immediately. An important activity you should try if possible when outdoors is grounding. Grounding or earthing simply means walking barefoot. I did this a lot when I was a kid growing up in Africa, but the older you are, the harder it is to do some of the easiest things. Modern living has changed our lives and some of these changes are not good for our health.

Research has shown that grounding improves sleep, strengthens the immune system, reduces pain and inflammation, regulates the nervous system, and decreases feelings of anxiety and stress, and more. The benefits of grounding are too many to list in this blog post. However, grounding is not the easiest thing to do in the part of the world I live in but I make sure I do this in my garden as frequently as possible.

Mediation

Mediating does wonders for mental health.  I meditate daily and I cannot imagine a life without daily mediation. When meditating to improve mental health, it is important to focus on the root chakra (root energy center). The root center in our body is the base of the spine and that is the center that deals with mental health amongst others. There are loads of guided root chakra meditation videos on YouTube to help you. It is best to playa round with a few until you find the guided meditation that works best for you.

Dancing

Dancing is another activity that instantly improves my mood. I dance every day. It is part of my morning workout session and I love it. It relaxes me, relieves stress, and keeps me fit. Plus, it allows me to enjoy some of my favourite African tracks.

Do you do any of these activities every day? Which is your favourite?

What will become of fashion blogs

CoronaVirus has completely changed the world. The fashion industry is one of the main industries affected by COVID-19 pandemic. For now, gone are the days of fashion shows, and even shopping on the high street isn’t for everyone with the new rules and regulations. Plus, with the current state of the economy, going on a shopping spree is probably the last thing on many people’s minds. Shopping is now down to necessity rather than a luxury. Which makes me wonder what will become of fashion blogs in these uncertain times.

The high street is disappearing.

Many high street giants are closing shops in many locations all over the world. Our local Dorothy Perkins recently announced they were closing down the store for good after 30 years of being in town. Debenhams, M&S, and many more have announced job cuts and store closures all over the UK. The current state of events makes me wonder what will become of fashion blogs. If stores are closing down and people are losing jobs, will showcasing new pieces/accessories make sense? What will happen to blogs and websites that only feature personal style posts?

The pandemic is definitely going to affect every content creator. Let’s face it; life has changed and adjustments have to be made. The UK is officially now in a recession. Many people are now more interested in content that would help them, rather than simply entertain them.

Blog how you want!

At the end of the day, our blogs and social media platforms are our little corners on the internet. There is the freedom to create whatever and whenever you want as long as it is legal. I won’t share certain content on here because of what is going on in the world. My approach to blogging has changed over the years, and me having a lifestyle blog allows me to write about whatever I want to write about. I am thankful to have that creative freedom. If Fashion and Style Police stayed as a pure fashion blog like how it started, I would have been in a very bad situation now. I know some bloggers have had to sell their blogs which is sad. Luckily, I decided to go down the lifestyle blogging route within a few months of blogging.

What will become of fashion blogs?

I really don’t know. I stopped reading pure fashion blogs when I stopped blogging just fashion. Instagram seems to be the place for showcasing fashion and style, and I see more than enough on there. I wonder what will become of fashion blogs.

The Benefits of Aloe Vera on the Skin

Aloe Vera is a miracle wonder plant. I love it so much! It is just amazing. I have used Aloe Vera on and off for many years now, and I am always blown away by how effective it is. Back then, I extracted the gel directly from the plant and applied it straight to my hair. I did that for years and my hair was so healthy. It is one of those natural ingredients I have always enjoyed using. I am gradually incorporating more and more natural products into my life, and Aloe Vera is one of my current favourites.

I started using Aloe Vera on my hair to help it stay healthy. I have also recently started using it on my skin and it has changed my skin for the better. Aloe Vera has been so good to my skin that I can’t imagine not using it anymore. I am currently using this Aloe Vera Moisturising Lotion by Forever Living and it is so good. You can read the full review of the lotion if you missed the product review post.

The Benefits of Aloe Vera on the Skin

Here are the top 5 benefits of Aloe Vere on the skin –

Soothes sunburn

Aloe Vera is great for soothing sunburn because it has cooling properties and is anti-inflammatory. It is a natural remedy for sunburn and helps heal the skin quickly.

Moisturises the skin

It works great as a skin moisturiser. It can be tricky to apply since it usually does not absorb into the skin quickly. However, once it is applied properly, it leaves the skin moisturised and hydrated. It also unclogs the pores and leaves the skin soft and supple.

Fights anti-ageing

Aloe Vera creams and lotions work great for dealing with signs of ageing. The products leave you looking younger by reducing and preventing signs of skin ageing.

Lightens blemishes

Aloe Vera gradually lightens blemishes on the skin. I have noticed a massive difference on my skin since I started using this Aloe Vera Moisturising lotion.

Reduces acne

Another great benefit of Aloe Vera is that it reduces acne. The antimicrobial properties in it treat the pimples. It is also antiseptic, which also helps. Aloe Vera also works as an astringent that helps reduce the size of pores, gets rid of excess sebum, microbes, and dirt.
