The Books the Kids are Reading

Hey peeps! I hope everyone enjoyed the bank holiday. I know I did. Although it was cold and wet outside, I made the most of the quiet time. We have been doing a lot of reading in the last few days. The kids love reading books, and I encourage them to read even more. They have eBooks downloaded on their Leapfrogs, but they actually prefer reading physical books. Here are some of their favourite books at the moment.

The Tickle Book

The kids love reading this Tickle Book. They have had the book for months now and they still laugh every time I read it to them. I can see why this book is a hit with them. I do find it very funny too

The Tickle Book is written by Ian Whybrow and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. This colourful funny board book is great for children between the ages of 3 – 5 years old. It is full of fun rhymes and silly scenarios. We got ours for £8.99.

The Beginner’s Bible

The Beginner’s Bible by Catherine DeVries is another hit in our house. My twins love reading the bible stories in this book, and as a believer, I am thrilled they enjoy reading their bible.

This bible uses simple text and bright images to grab children’s attention. It is great for children between the ages of 2 – 5 years old. You can grab a copy online for £10.99.

Let’s make a cake

Let’s make a cake is one of the newest book in our kiddies bookshelf. My daughter enjoys reading this book in her preschool so I had to find it. After searching online for days, I finally stumbled on a preloved copy on eBay for £2.29.

Let’s make a cake by Wendy Body and illustrated by Adrienne Geoghegan is a great book for any child learning to read. This is one book my kiddies can actually read correctly by themselves. It is an amazing first reading book.

Peppa’s Easter Egg Hunt

This is another favourite with the kids. Peppa’s Easter Egg Hunt is interesting book for Peppa Pig’s fans. It can serve as a fantastic Easter present instead of the good old Easter egg gift.

We got this Peppa Pig book for £3.74 on Amazon. It is ideal for children between the ages of 2 – 5 years old.

What do you think of these children’s book? Have your kids read any of them? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks for reading.

How to get yourself to drink more water

Good health is wealth and water is life. I know all these but I must confess, I am not a big water drinker. I rather drink coke tea, cappuccino and juices, and any other drink than water. When I was pregnant with my twins, I drank more water in those 9 months than I drank all my life prior to my pregnancy. I didn’t want to have caffeine in me and I only felt like drinking water, which was so weird but good for our health.

After my pregnancy, I started taking other drinks but it was nothing like how it was before. I swapped some of my caffeine and sugary drinks, for some extra glasses of water, and I have managed to continue doing that. However, I would still like to drink more water. I don’t drink as many glasses of water as I should br drinking, so I need to work on that. I have found a few tricks to help me drink more water. Here are some of them.

Get a fancy bottle

Having a fancy water bottle like this Ion8 Leak Proof Slim Water Bottle, means I get to drink more water. It is the right size, very easy to carry around and it looks great too. What is there not to like?

This water bottle also comes in various colours, so you can go for the colour you like. It works with both hot and cold drinks. It also has a soft feel for grip & carry strap, fits any cup holder or kid’s backpack. You can grab it on Amazon for £9.99 only.

Always have water with you

A good way of ensuring you drink the right amount of water everyday is to always have water with you, that way you will find yourself drinking more water unconsciously.

Another great water bottle to try is this BRITA Fill and Go Vital Water Filter Bottle BPA Free Includes 1 Microdisc Lasting 150 Litres, Blue, 600 ml.

If you struggle to drink water when out and about, this Brita Fill and Go will help you drink more water. It transforms tap water into great tasting, freshly filtered BRITA water. This bottle is so handy to have around especially when travelling. I will be taking this bottle with me on my next trip.

You can grab this now on Amazon for £11.08. The original RRP is £23.94, so hurry while the offer is still on.

Stay active

Being active would dehydrate you, which means you would need more drinks. So ensure you stay active and fit to get you drinking. It is super easy to stay active. Go for a walk instead of catching the bus, or get off the bus a few stops before you stop, so you can get your steps in. You can also exercise from home if that suits you more. There are loads of fitness videos available on line, that would surely get you gasping for breath.

How do you ensure you take the right amount of water everyday? Please share your secrets.

Natural Hair Transition with SheaMoisture

If you have been reading Fashion and Style Police for some time, you would know all about my natural hair transition. I decided to go natural some months ago but I didn’t want to down the big chop route. So I had to grow out natural hair, while cutting off the dead hair tips gradually. It took a while but I am happy to say my hair is now fully natural.

I would be lying if I said growing my hair natural was a walk in the park. It wasn’t. Getting my hair to this stage has not been easy. It took a lot of hard work and determination to get here. And my hair is still a work in progress.

I felt like giving up so many times along the way. My hair is a 4C and it is very coarse, so it is hard to manage. However, but I am happy I didn’t. I am very confident with my hair now. I am show it off proudly and it is just growing like weed, which is amazing.

In my transition, I have used so many hair products. A few of them I won’t use again and many I would continue using. I recently came across the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine Range. This range is great for my thick hair. I am loving it so far.

I am a huge fan of the SheaMoisture brand. If you scroll through my natural hair transition posts, you would see me raving about 1 SheaMoisture range or the other. The products are great for natural hair and I believe they have helped in my hair growth. This Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine range is no exception. I love all the products in this range, especially the SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, which I have used before. The products keep my hair clean and moisturised. I will be shopping this range in future.

You can get this products in Boots stores, Amazon, eBay and other beauty stores.
