Promoting a healthy lifestyle

Hello everyone! Welcome to a new week. There is a new category now on the blog and it is all about health and well-being. I will be featuring regular posts on this section and they will be all about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have always been interested in health and wellness, and I have featured many posts on the topic on Fashion and Style Police over the years.

My interest has increased even more now with me paying more attention to my health, going vegetarian, using only natural skin and hair products, eating organic as much as possible, and studying psychology with a particular interest in clinical health psychology. In this new blog category, I will be featuring posts with tested tips to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Also, I will be promoting and selling natural products you could implement into your lifestyle to help maintain and improve your overall health. So keep reading.

What is health?

A state of complete physical, mental and social. well-being and not merely the absence of. disease or infirmity” – WHO Constitution

I like this definition from the World Health Organisation because it covers all parts of our being. Good health is not just the absence of disease. Health is more than that. It covers our physical, mental, emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Many people only focus on their physical, ignoring all the other bits until they rise up to the front due to a disorder and can no longer be ignored. Good health means all parts of your being are in a healthy state, which should be the goal.

I am excited to embark on this new journey and share my knowledge and experience. It is possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle. These 5 steps to mental wellbeing by NHS is a great guide to get your mental well-being on point.

Do you have any healthy lifestyle tips to share? What sort of natural products do you use on a daily basis? Are you interested in essential oils?

Clean Energy Drinks for Busy Mums

As a busy working mum of 2 very active toddlers, I am forever tired. Some days, I wake feeling tired. My kids are early birds, so my day usually starts from around 5:30am on a proper early day (thank you heat wave). Or it can be as late but never later than 7:45am. And the chaos start from wake up time to bed time for 7pm (ish). I work from home, so I have to balance the family life and work life from the same roof, and make it all work somehow. Which is tiring on most days. Which is why I find myself taking anything that promises to give me some kind of energy.

I have recently come across a new drink – Flyte Clean Energy, and I was eager to try it. A pack landed on my doorstep some days ago, and I have been busy drinking. These energy drinks are not like your regular energy drinks. These are clean energy drinks, which means it is 100% sourced from nature. It has low calories and powered by organic caffeine. I got the Clean Mango and Red Berry flavours and I think they taste great! The bottles are so cute. I think they are really pretty and handy. The fact that I can open a bottle and finish it later thanks to the lid is great.

This energy drink is tasty. I love it when it’s chilled. It has a dry taste and it is great for those mornings when you need a little pick me up. It works like a dream! I love the colour a lot too.

Flyte Clean Energy Red Berries

This energy drink has a lovely taste. I like the light subtle berry flavour. It is a great drink to have in the afternoon as an alternative to your regular cup of coffee. It saves the day when you are feeling drained.

Topping Energy Levels this Spring

Spring is finally upon us and the warmer is getting warmer. I have been busy getting myself and my household ready for the new season. We have been busy spring cleaning our home, getting our garden spring-ready and also staying on top of our health. The spring/summer months are usually very busy. So I have been paying attention to my health and well-being in time for the season.

I have been taking some supplements from Professional Supplement Specialists – Biocareto help me get ready for the new season. With all the hustle and bustle, I needed a helping hand. So I was happy to get my hands on these supplements below.

Methyl Multinutrient – 60 Capsules £30.95

This Magnesium Citrate Food Supplement is a potent supplement of magnesium that is easily absorbed and used by the body. It provides 100mg of elemental magnesium per capsule and is suitable for everyday use.

I have been taking both food supplements for weeks now and I feel amazing. My energy levels have gone up and I have been walking with a spring in my step.

If you are looking for ways to top your energy levels this spring, here are tips from Chris Newbold, Head of Clinical Nutrition at BioCare –

Avoid caffeine after 2pm

This is a tricky one for me but I working on it. I have noticed, I sleep better if I do not take any caffeinated drink after 2pm. Caffeine is great for increasing alertness, so starting the day with a cup of cappuccino may help sharpen your mind. But It can cause sleep problems if taken after 2pm.

Give yourself a breakfast boost

Having a good breakfast is the best way to feel alert in the mornings. It’s important to go for healthier options, such as porridge and fruit, an omelette or wholemeal toast. Avoid fatty, deep-fried foods such as fry-ups, as these take a while for your body to digest and will leave you with less energy.

Get some sleep

This is an obvious tip but making of us do not get the right amount of sleep needed to function properly. A bad night’s sleep can leave you feeling drained for days, so make sure you’re well rested every night to feel reenergised the next day.

Add some protein

High quality protein will fill you up and give you all-day energy. So ensure you add some protein into your daily diet. There are many different options to choose from such as salmon and eggs for breakfast, followed by tuna or chicken for lunch and dinner.

Don’t ditch the complex carbs

Complex carbs such as brown rice, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and wheat fuels the body and mind to help you make it through the day. These complex carbs are turned into glucose (blood sugar) in the body and are used as energy.

Ditch the drink before bed

Now this is a great tip as I believe many are not aware of it. Alcohol can trick you into thinking that you will sleep better as it can often make you feel drowsy and can make it easier to fall asleep. However, this can also affect your energy levels the next day, as you’re more likely to wake up and feel terrible. Drinking alcohol can dehydrate the body, so reach for a glass of water between alcoholic drinks to ease the hangover symptoms the next day.

How are you topping up your energy levels this spring? Are you taking any food supplements this season?
