How to Silence your Blogging Critics

The best of us have critics. And no matter what job you do, whether it’s blogging or working in a regular job, you are bound to have critics around. It is a part of life fortunately and unfortunately. So how do you silence your blogging critics?

Every blogger had to face critics at one time in their life. And many of us have to deal with critics every single day. The criticism could come from people in our real life, online friends or even complete strangers. As annoying as it sounds, the truth is criticism would never stop. The more successful you are, the more criticism you get from trolls and lovers alike.

Criticism is part of doing, so as long as you keep doing, you would keep getting criticised. As long as you keep blogging, you would keep attracting critics. It is just the way it goes.

There is no room for malicious criticism here at all. I like when my friends and loved ones give me good criticism. We are need good critics in our lives to push us out from our comfort zone. Having said that, I have a problem when the criticism is not coming from a good place with good intentions.  Don’t ask me how I know, I just do. So I know how to silence the critics I don’t need to hear from. Here is how I go about it.

Don’t lash back at your critics

Yes, this is the first tip to silencing your critics. I know that being criticized can be hurtful but lashing back at your critics is like adding fuel to the fire. The minute your critics know that you are upset or angry about what they are staying about you, the more they will criticize you and this time it’ll be worse.

Lashing back at your critics only gives them the signal that you are in denial and that there may be some element of truth in what they were saying about you.

The best way to deal with the situation is to be calm while answering them. Don’t be harsh or rude. Always be peaceable and friendly. This may be difficult to do, but trust me, it will make some if not all your critics reconsider their choice of words.

Be determined to be the best and keep on doing

One of the best ways to silence your critics is to consistently deliver your best work. Critics will always find something negative to say about what you do and even how you do it. To prove them wrong you need to tell yourself every time you blog that the blog post you’ll publish will be the best post you have ever written.

There’s one thing you need to take note of when you’re trying to deliver your best. You need to remember why you do what you do. You didn’t set up your blog to please your critics. If you are like me, you started your blog to entertain, inform and share parts of your life with your readers. Let that be your primary focus. Keep up doing what you do and ignore the critics.

Cut them off

If your critics are people you know in your real life, do not be afraid to cut them off! This may sound very harsh but it is usually the best way to silence your critics if they won’t support you. I have cut off a few people in my real life, partly because of how they do not support my blog. If I had a friend or family member running a blog, I know I would be all over their blog all day every day, supporting them as much as I can.

I know not everyone is into social media like I am, and not everyone has the time to read blogs. I totally get that, I have friends and family, who hardly come online to read blogs. But I also know many people in my real life who do, but just refuse to support my blog openly. I know they read it but they never share my posts or comment. The only thing they ever do is criticise and I won’t have that, so I cut them off.

Tips for Selling on eBay

I started selling my preloved and some new items on eBay some years ago. Funny enough, I still remember how excited I was to make my first sale. Back then, I was so into selling on eBay. I still am, but not as much. We only have 24 hours in a day unfortunately, and I rarely have the time to list my items on eBay. It takes me ages to get the items sorted, photographed and listed. So I have reduced the time I spend selling online. I stopped selling items on eBay auctions, sticking to the buy it now option, which I find a lot easier to manage. I also wait to sell my entire stock before listing some more.

There are so many articles all over the web, on tips for selling on eBay. I know I have read loads and I found some of them very helpful. However, this post is all about tips I have picked up along the way. So this is purely from my experience from selling on eBay in the last couple of years.

Delivery service

Make sure you send your sold items with the cheapest and most reliable parcel delivery service. This is very important. If you use a crappy delivery service, your buyer would most likely get the item late, damaged or it may go missing in the post. Which would lead to a low rating/complaint. So do your research before you decide on which delivery service to go for. There are a couple of reliable parcel delivery companies that offer excellent service. One of them being Parcel2Go, and the other being Parcelabc, they both offer cheap international parcel delivery.

Excellent photos

I take all my product photos with my DSLR. This way I ensure my photos are quality. The buyers need to have a good look at the products they have interest in, and the only way is through the photos. Items with clear photos sell faster. It is also advisable to take as many photos as possible, showing different angles of the product. If there are any faults or signs of wear and tear, make sure you get this photographed as well, so buyers are aware of the true state of the item.

Clear Description

Writing a clear description of the items on sale is another great tip for selling on eBay. Make sure you include sizes, colours, design, features, how long you have had the item if applicable, faults/damage, the condition of the item, and any relevant information you would want to know before buying a product online.

Selling on eBay – Buy it Now Option

The jury us still out on this one, but I prefer the Buy it now option to the Auction option on eBay. Buy it Now means I can list items for a price I am happy with, and have 30 days to sell it. If it’s not sold in 30 days, I usually have it resisted for another 30 days for free. I prefer thus option as it is a lot easier to manage. Dealing with bids annoy me most of the time, so I rather sell online this way.

Do you run an online shop? How do you find selling on eBay? Do you have any tips to share?

A Honda Civic Car

If you have been reading Fashion and Style Police for a while, you would know all about my love for sleek, stylish cars. The Honda Civic is one of them. You would also know about my journey to passing my driving test. I am still in the process of getting that sorted. However, I plan to have that done and dusted before the end of next year.

Why that long I hear you ask? Well, I have wasted thousands of pounds in the last 6 years, taking driving lessons on and off, passing a theory test and having it expire 2 years after, and failing the practical driving test. With all that money down the drain, I am no longer in the position to waste anymore money. So I have to wait until the time is right, and the wallet is ready.

While I am waiting, I have been keeping myself motivated by dreaming of the perfect car for me. I would like a very beautiful car with a sleek interior. Getting a car before I start my driving lessons is what I am working towards. Having the car of my dreams (or close to it) would keep me motivated. I currently have my eye on a few Honda cars, and the Honda Civic is at the top of the list.

Honda describes the new Honda Civic as a car that’s made to impress, and I agree! The stylish sleek design is so stylish, and I like the size. It would be perfect for my lifestyle. I also like the sound of the Honda Civic’s dashboard. The ability to link up to Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ sounds cool! This dashboard would enable me play my favourite tunes on the go, which I am sure would make a great driving experience.

Picturing myself driving this beauty feels great! I have been reading the Honda Civic Handbook on Vertu Motors’ website, and I loving the features of the new model.

I know some people may disagree with the idea of a sleek car being a motivating factor when it comes to passing a test. However, I know I will be more determined to pass my driving tests if I have my dream car parked in front of my house. I guess it is the way I am wired.

Also, I would be able to take more driving lessons in my spare time, and with my own car. Which I hope would quicken the whole process.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the Honda Civic car? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
