What is a blog and why is blogging so popular? This is one question I know for a fact many people search for on search engines. It comes up regularly when I am researching keywords for my blog posts. So I decided to write this post to help answer some question surrounding the blogging industry.

 

What is a blog?

A blog like Fashion and Style Police is a regularly updated website/web page usually owned by an individual (blogger) and written in a conversational or informal style. Blog posts are articles that appear on the blog and they usually include pictures, texts, videos and animated GIFs. A blog can set to private or public. If set to public, your blog posts can be accessed on the big wild web by anyone except you set up specific blog posts to private access only.

The difference between blogs and websites

A blog can appear as posts on one page or individual pages. Posts are usually displayed to readers in reverse chronological order with the most recent content appearing first, unlike a regular website. Many confuse blogs for websites, and websites for blogs.

A website is updated with fresh content less frequently than a blog. Blogs usually have weekly, daily or even less than hourly updates. Also, blogs have comment sections to encourage online conversations about the blog content. This is not the case with a regular website.

 

Why are blogs so popular

Blogs are popular because people enjoy reading and writing them. Good blogs entertain, educate and inform their readers, which is why their readers keep coming back. Great blogs attract hundreds/thousands of views on a daily basis and this is because they play a role. Blogs provide a social outlet separate from social media platforms. Reading and commenting on blogs is a way to socialise online and at the end of the day, we are humans like to socialise one way or the other, and blogs provide that platform to interact with people all over the world. These are some of the reasons why blogs are so popular today.

There are many ways to lose weight fast. A quick google search will bring multiple ways on how to lose weight fast with lifestyle changes. Some of these ways may not be your cup of tea or may not work for you. If you are struggling to shed off some weight, it is wise to play around with various lifestyle changes until you find what works for you and your body best.

Work on your diet

The first step when it comes to losing weight is to work on your diet. Watching what you eat and eating a balanced healthy diet is the fastest way to lose weight fast. Cutting back on sugars and starchy foods (carbohydrates) will help you massively. Reducing the sugary and starchy foods you eat will reduce your hunger levels which will in turn reduce your weight eventually. Also instead of burning carbohydrates for energy, your body starts to feed off stored fat.

Believe it or not, eating your food slowly helps you lose weight. This is one tip I was pleased to discover because I eat slowly naturally. That could be one reason why I manage to keep the weight off. Eating your food slowly helps you feel full quicker which will discourage overeating.

 

Drink more water

Research has shown that drinking a glass of water 30 minutes before having a meal will increase weight loss in about 3 months. So if you are struggling with excess weight and have tried every trick in the book, you should try this one.

 

Get a good night’s sleep

Research has proved that sleeping well can help you lose weight. Poor sleep is now strongly linked to obesity so ensure you are getting the right amount of sleep. This is yet another reason to make sure you are sleeping enough. Most adults need around 7/8 hours of good sleep. Poor sleep can lead to many other health problems so getting a good night’s sleep is very important.

3 Adobe Lightroom Image Editing Tips

Here are some tips you may find useful when using Adobe Lightroom to edit your photos –

Take Great Photos

The first you editing great photos is to make sure you take amazing photos on your camera. That way you reduce the amount of editing work you have to do. I always make sure I do the best I can when taking pictures on my camera. The better the pictures I take, the less editing I do. Sometimes the pictures are amazing straight from the camera, I have no editing to do. Those are the pictures I like to that. You can check the settings of the raw photo on Adobe Lightroom by clicking on command plus I on MacBook, and then press I to get rid of the information on the screen.

I like to get as much natural light as possible when taking photographs. I also make sure everything is where it needs to be so I don’t have to erase or adjust anything. Paying attention to the camera settings especially the ISO bit helps. I play around with various settings until I get the right settings for the photos I want. I like to shoot with manual settings so I can adjust as I go along. Automatic settings are not be trusted if you want great photographs.

Edit in dark rooms

When editing photos in Adobe Lightroom, it is best to do so in a dark room. That way you get to adjust the basic panel settings (temperature, tint, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows and others) correctly without any interference from the lightening in the room.

 

Start editing from the basic panel

When editing, it is best to always start with the main parts to edit and then finish off with the smaller parts. That way you don’t get to repeat or correct edits you have already done. It is best to start editing from the basic panel. I usually start editing from this section and work my way to other sections if necessary. I play around with different adjustments (moving the sliders back and forth) until I get the right look for the photo. The first thing I adjust in a photo is the exposure. I like to get the right amount of light in if needed, then I move over to other sections in the basic panel.
