OOTD: Styling Shades of Blue

Shades of Blue Image

Blue is one of my favourite colours ever. There is something so cool about the colour blue. I can’t quite explain my love for the colour but I am so in love with it. There is something clean and clear about the colour blue. Many pieces and accessories in my wardrobe are blue in colour and I like it that way but I have to start to reduce the amount of blue items I do have for the sake of variety and options.. In these photos, I also have a few shades of blue in the background. Can you spot them? Lol..

I find blue so easy to style, and that is 1 reason why I wear a lot of it. Here are 5 ways you could style your blue pieces and accessories this summer:

Pair with White

You can pair your blue piece with white like I did in this outfit post. A blue top paired with a white skirt or pants always look good.

Add Pair

Or you can team up your blue piece with black for a better contrast. Denim paired with black always looks spot on.

Wear Stripes

Summer fashion is all about stripes, and the colour blue always looks amazing when paired with stripes. So go for it! You can draw inspiration from my outfit here.

Matchy Matchy

You can always go matchy matchy with blue. Denim on denim always looks fabulous. Just add some black pumps and you are good to go.

Prints

Blue always looks good paired with prints. Blue prints on a white base looks effortlessly chic.

OOTD: A Textured Dress & A Biker Jacket

Zebra Print Dress Image

So this week’s outfit is featuring some new wardrobe additions, starting with this zebra print textured dress. I found this beauty online, on sale, while doing some ‘window online shopping’, and I knew I had to have it. I am so into dresses at the moment, I find myself wanting to buy them a lot lately for a weird reason. Guess a girl can never have too many dresses, right?

The only issue I have with this dress is, it is a dry clean only piece. I find dry clean only pieces so expensive to own, and I fortunately and unfortunately now have quite a few of them now, so I won’t be buying anymore. Apart from the fact that this dress is a hassle to clean, I love everything else about it, and I will be wearing it for a long time.

I paired this monochrome textured shift dress with this black faux leather jacket, which is also a new wardrobe addition. Remember in my January Fashion Wishlist, I mentioned I needed a leather jacket. Well, I have needed a leather jacket since my last piece – Guess leather jacket, gave up on me some months ago. I originally wanted a 100% real leather jacket but I couldn’t afford it, so faux leather will do for now. They pretty much look the same, leather and faux leather (here is me trying to console myself), don’t they? Whatever…….

I prefer this leather jacket to my previous leather jacket. This is from a petite range, so it has a perfect fit, and I adore the biker look and the gold zip detail. I think it is so cool.

Dolcis Flat Shoes Image

The monochrome flat shoes are also new. I needed a comfy pair to run errands in, and still look good enough for outfit photos, and casual outings, and this ticked all the boxes. My new favourite pair for spring.

OOTD: Back to the Roots

African Skater Skirt Image

Say hello to my first outfit post in the month of April, and it is an ode to my African roots. This skater African print skirt was a gift from my mum. I wore it for the first time some days ago, and I got quite a lot of good compliments from so many people. I guess it caught so many eyes because it is a very colourful, different skirt, just what you need to see on a dull, gloomy day.

Outfit of the Day Image

Growing up, I wore quite a lot of pieces like this skirt. In fact, half of my wardrobe would consist of african printed skirts, trousers and dresses, and I loved it. You won’t see this skirt or anything like it on the high street, which makes it even more precious.

Every now and again, I will like to mix my African pieces with my regular pieces, and create a very different look, so keep reading Fashion and Style Police, a lot of fashion and style inspiration coming your way.

I found it incredibly easy to style this custom-made skirt. I love seeing lace paired with African prints, maybe because I have seen a lot of lace African outfits over the years. I think they complement each other perfectly so I went for the look, and I think it turned out great.

I am also happy to see spring has finally sprung. How is the weather where you are?
