The Kiddies went horse-riding for the first time in the summer of last year. They loved it! I must confess that I was a bit worried at first. I wasn’t too sure how they would handle being close to a horse, not to talk of actually riding one. But they handled it like pros. They were very confident and comfortable on the horses. I was so proud.
We had the opportunity to take the twins horse-riding last summer at Cheshire Ice Cream Farm. They rode on the horses for a few minutes and enjoyed every bit of it. And they haven’t stopped talking about it. Which is why we are now considering having them enrolled in horse-riding classes this year.
My Interest in Horses
I have always been interested in horses as far as I can remember. Horses are so beautiful. I love watching them all glammed up in a horse turnout rug. They always look so adorable.
Back in the day, I got the opportunity to ride a horse once, but never got the chance to go for proper horse-riding lessons. Which is why I am eager to get the kiddies enrolled this year. I have had a look around for horse -riding schools close by and I have found a couple I think I like. There are loads of horse-riding schools available in Cheshire, which is great. I was surprise to find as many as I found. The only thing stopping me now is the prices of the lessons around. Getting qualified instructors means the lessons come with a hefty price tag as expected. One of the horse-riding schools we are interested is charging as high as £22 for a 30 minutes lesson.
Horse-riding is high on our to-do list for the year, so we are definitely going to look into the kiddies having some lessons this year.
Do your kids go horse riding? How are they finding it?
If you are thinking of moving house, Christmas is definitely not the best time to do this. Everyone is busy setting up their house for the season and getting ready for the big day. Moving house should be the last thing on anyone’s mind. But if you do have to move house, then you have to move. The best way is to ensure your move goes as smoothly as possible.
Here are 6 tips that may come in handy for when you need to move house during the festive season and beyond.
Move as soon as possible
If you are moving house in December, it is best to do so as early in the month as possible, so you can relax in your new house and enjoy the festivities. You don’t want to be dealing with boxers and trying to settle down in your new house on Christmas Eve. If you can get the move out-of-the-way weeks before Christmas, then it makes the whole experience better for everyone, especially the little ones.
Hire the professionals
When it comes to moving house, it is always better when you have professionals dealing with the home move. It makes the whole process go smoothly and quickly once you have experienced hands doing the job. I always recommend hiring a moving company to get the move done. They cost money but it is money well spent in my eyes. A good moving company take the stress away from moving house.
Label all boxes
Label all boxes with the right information so you know what is in each box and which room they are to go in. It means less clutter as boxes will be moved into the rooms they should go into straight away. Also, unpacking would be a lot easier and faster.
Sort out childcare
If you have kids, and they are not in school or nursery, ensure you have a form of childcare to keep them safe and engaged elsewhere. The last thing you would need is to have kids about when moving house. It is not safe for them and it is a lot more stressful having to worry about the kids while dealing with moving house.
Get the Christmas decor up
It is best to have the Christmas decorations separate from other furniture, and ready to be set up once you are in your new home. The last thing you would need is to start looking for the Christmas Tree lights or ornaments. Decorating your new home as soon as you can would put the magic back into Christmas for the whole family.
Arrange the bedrooms and kitchen
The first set of rooms to be sorted are the bedroom, with the kitchen following closely. That way you can abandon the clutter and get a good night sleep when you have had enough.

Toxic people are everywhere so you will come in contact with a few at some point in your life. We have them in schools, offices, families, communities and even in churches. If you are a healthy person, you will find dealing with toxic people draining. I know from experience how draining they can be. Toxic people can drain the life out of you, that undergoing therapy may be the only to regain your sanity.
I have had my own fair share of dealing with toxic people and situations. And I still spot them every now and again. They are everywhere, which makes it almost impossible to completely avoid them. Which is why it is important to know how to deal with toxic people, and protect your mental health.
Who are toxic people?
Toxic People are like emotional vampires that drain your energy. They are the people in your life who constantly complain about everything and anything. These people always put the blame on someone else and never take responsibility for their actions or inactions.
Toxic People always turn things around so things you thought they had done wrong are suddenly your fault. They also tend to overreact to bad events and usually have a chaotic life, full of drama and negativity.
How do you deal with toxic people?
Dealing with toxic people is quite easy once you know who they are. The first task is identifying the toxic in your life. Once that is done, you will be able to recognise them for what they really are, and ignore their negative energy.
The second task is dealing with the toxic people. The best way of going about this is by minimising contact with them as much as possible. Once you learn to ignore them and not take in their negative energy, you will be fine.
It can be hard to ignore certain situations and people sometimes, but ignoring these people is one of the best things you can do for your mental health. If you get drawn into their negative way of life, the chaos and drama may consumed you, leaving you a shadow of your former self. Rise above them and keep your distance.
Protecting your mental health with some therapy
For some of us, it may have taken years to recognise certain people as toxic. This relationship with these people may have left us drained and feeling inadequate. If this is you, then some therapy may be required. Your mental health will thank you for it.
Therapy will help you train yourself when coming in contact with energy draining people. You will learn how to switch off mentally when the complaining, fault-finding and energy-draining behaviour begins.
If the toxic person in your life is a friend or family member you care about, you can encourage them to go into therapy. An experienced Therapist may be able to solve the underlying issue behind the negative way of life.
In conclusion
If you have noticed certain people always trigger aggression, frustration, depression, sadness or any other type of negative emotion in you, then looking within may help. Changing the way you react to them may help. You need to understand that you have no control over their behaviour, but you can control yours.
Pay attention to your reaction when these situations present themselves. Ignoring and zoning out does help massively. If your reaction does little or nothing to help, then just reduce the presence of these toxic people in your lives.
I have read loads of books on Psychology as it is an area I have strong interest in for some weird reason. I will be reviewing a couple of the eBooks I have read sometime in the new year, so look at for those review posts if you are interested.
How do you deal with toxic people in your life? How do you ensure you take care of your mental health?
