How often do you wash your bedding, bras and pyjamas

It took me a while to find the right balance when it came to how often I should wash my bedding, bras, pyjamas and all. And I know many people struggle with this issue as well. Some people just wash them when they stink (yuck) or when they remember. But it should be quite obvious how often we should wash these things. So here is a quick guide for anyone who may be struggling to decide.

Bedding

We use our bedding everyday and clean sheets help us get quality sleep. So keeping them clean is important. Now how often do we wash our bedding? There are different answers to this question depending on the situation. If you tend to sweat a lot and you have a lot of activity on your bed, like little children joining in, and all, then you should be changing your complete bedding set every week. It is a lot easier to follow this washing rule when you have a couple of bedding sets. Groupon has loads of affordable quality bedding sets on their website, so it is worth having a look on there to get a few spares.

If you don’t sweat as much and you sleep alone, you could leave your bedding for longer, say 2 weeks. Your duvet cover can stay longer, say 3 – 4 weeks, as well. It all depends on your sleeping conditions.

We need to wash our bedding regularly to remove a buildup of debris, dust and sweat. It is also important to change our bedding regularly if we suffer from allergies or have breaking difficulties.

Bras

Now let’s be honest. How often do you wash your bras? Do you remember the last time you washed the bra you have on now? Bras need to be washed after 3 wears at least. The build up of bacteria, bodily fluids and general dirt means that after 3 bras wears, a wash is needed.

Like with the bedding, it all depends on the lifestyle. Some women who sweat more and have very active lifestyles may need to wash more regularly than others. Hand wash is better for bras. Machine washing tends to be detrimental to the elastic. But if you can’t hand wash for whatever reason, ensure you use gentle setting and hook the clasps to avoid ruining other pieces.

Pyjamas

When it comes to Pyjamas, I tend to wash them after 2 wears. Sometimes, I wash them after 1 wear, especially in the summer months when it is dead warm.

Research has also showed that dirty pyjamas can cause all sort of health problems from acne to cystitis. So this is not something we should neglect. Having to deal with acne or cystitis from a dirty set of pyjamas is the laziest thing ever. The skincare hassle is not worth it at all. Get the pyjamas in the washer.

Good Night Sleep Essentials

I like my sleep. I need at least 8 hours of sound sleep to feel energised and ready to take on the world the next day. Good Night Essentials help me achieve a good night sleep. I have a sleep routine I stick to but I have been free styling of late, which has resulted to me not sleeping well, and feeling very grumpy in the morning. I had to do something about this, as it was beginning to affect the quality of my life.

Here are a few changes I have made, along with some new good night sleep essentials I got some days ago.

A Good Warm Shower/Bath

I make sure I take a nice warm shower a few hours before bed. If I have more time to play with, I run a bath and burn some candles, to help me relax. I have been burning my personalised Sweetness & Light Coconut Cream and Summer Breeze Soya Candles. They smell divine!

I have also added this Dead Skin Body Scrub Frankincense Oil to my weekly skincare routine. My skin feels amazing after using this body scrub. I like to use it once a week to get rid of rough/dry skin. It also leaves my skin feeling very clean, which I love. I sleep better when I feel clean, so using a body scrub every now and again is a good night sleep essential. The Dead Sea Body Scrub with Frankincense Oil is stocked in Boots Stores.

Moisturise

After a good bath/shower, the next step is to moisturise. I have been using some new skincare products – Douvall’s Argan Multi Balm, Argan Active Protection Eye Serum, Argan Oil Moisturiser and Argan Bronzing Oil. These amazing skincare products were beautifully packaged in this Douvall’s pouch, which makes it super easy to pop in an overnight bag or handbag.

I found these products very useful. The Argan Multi Balm is a great multitasking product to have around. I like the Argan Oil Moisturiser, it moisturised my skin beautifully, and the Argan Bronzing Oil added a little bit of glow to my skin. These Douvall’s products have been added to my daily skincare routine and my skin is thanking me for it. The Argan Multi Balm is my favourite product from the collection. I usually apply it on my lips, hands and feet before I go to bed. And I love the way my lips, hands and feet feel when I wake up.

A Cosy Sleepwear is a Good Night Sleep Essential

What I wear to sleep usually determines the kind of sleep I get. So I like to pay attention to my sleepwear. A  Cosy sleepwear is definitely a good night sleep essential.

Pyjamas Image

I recently received this Maya Woven Long Sleeve Pyjamas and Clara Woven Long Sleeve Tile Print Short Robe by Cyberjammies, and I love them. The oriental florals designed pyjamas is a beauty. I really like the colour. I also love the teal colour and design of the robe. The material is also very comfy!

The Pyjamas and Robe help to ensure I get a good night sleep. I like having robes to pop on or off depending on the weather and where I am. I can see myself wearing these pieces a lot.

No Caffeine After 8pm

I love my caffeinated drinks. If you know me well enough, you would know all about my love for cappuccino and coca-cola. I usually stick to taking a cup of cappuccino in the morning but I can easily be seen sipping a glass of coke as late as 10pm sometimes, which has started to affect the quality of my sleep.

My target now is to take not more than 2 glasses of coke a day, and not later than 8pm. Preferably a lot earlier but I am a realist, which means I am unable to build castles in the sky. So I will start with a target of 8pm and move it down to 7pm in a few weeks, depending on how I cope.

So there you have it. My good night sleep essentials and routine. All these items help me sleep better. What do you think of them? Did any catch your eye?

Sensible Shopping Tips

I like shopping. I enjoy the process of finding something new. I am not an impulse buyer. I go for only things I really need, and all my purchases are always planned and budgeted in advance. Gone are the days of just splurging like there is no tomorrow. I guess is all part of adulting right?

I like to shop smartly, so I always go by these sensible shopping tips so I don’t waste my time or money.

Check the washing instructions

I always check the label for the washing instructions before buying. I tend to avoid dry clean garments because they are too expensive to maintain, except I really LIKE the piece.

No retail therapy

I don’t shop when I don’t feel good. Shopping when I am down is the fastest way to empty the bank account. I rather have a spa day, watch a movie, read a book or speak with family/friends, than shop.

Think about it

I think long and hard before I part with my cash. I work too hard to just throw money around so no impulse buying here. Before I buy a new item, I make sure I need it, I make sure it blends in with my existing wardrobe, I make sure I can afford it, and I make sure it suits me.

Shop around for bargains

I always aim to shop the sales, I don’t like buy anything full price. So if it is not urgently needed, I wait until it is on sale, then buy it then. Or I go to a designer outlet, where most items are usually discounted. There are a couple of designer outlets in the UK, so have a look around online, and find your nearest designer outlet.

Keep your receipts and leave the tags on

Now this is a very important tip. I have had to keep items I didn’t like because I was too quick to rip the tags off or misplaced my receipts. For example, I have a pyjamas thing going on, I like to have a couple of new pyjamas every year, and I got a few from a local store some weeks ago. I got them in my regular size so I didn’t think the fit would be wrong but it was. This particular pyjamas had a different fit, and it was a little too big, but I ripped the tag off before I noticed, so I had to keep it.

The moral of the story is to check it fits and you are very happy before you rip the tags or lose the receipts.

Do you have any sensible shopping tips to share?
