Outfit Post – Loving Summer Fashion

It feels like this summer has gone on forever. I started rocking my summer pieces since April this year. The heat wave has been on and off since then and it feels like this has this has been the longest summer ever. It is definitely the longest summer I have ever experienced in the UK. I am grateful I am able to wear a lot of my summer pieces. I hear the heat wave would be on and off until October, which is great new for summer lovers. Summer fashion has been giving me life this year and I am not in a hurry for that bit to go away. I am seriously loving the summer pieces in the stores and my outfit post category on Fashion and Style Police has been very busy.

I am wearing this stunning Rose Cami Strap Maxi Dress – Serenna. This beauty landed on my doorstep some weeks ago and it has been worn twice already! I love the design of the dress a lot. And I think the colour is really pretty too! Definitely a perfect piece for a cooler summer day. It was very easy to style and dead comfy too! It is one of those pieces you throw on when you can’t be bothered to think too much about accessories, because it goes with almost everything.

This stunning maxi dress features cami straps with a bodycon fit. The flattering body hugging style is right up my street. It is definitely a season must-have!

Summer Adventures – My Son Thinks He’s Lightning McQueen

I believe schools have closed in the UK, and the summer adventures are now in full swing. The Kiddies had their end of term party yesterday and it was good fun. They enjoyed the food and the chance to play with their friends; some they may never see again. I enjoyed it too. It was a chance for me to watch them and take it all in, until the heavens opened. Of all days to rain, the rain decided to pour down yesterday and it almost messed up our garden party.

Now that the kids are home for 6 weeks and we have no holidays planned at the moment, I am looking to keep them busy as much as I can. We have a couple of days out planned for the next few weeks. And we may still go for a last minute Europe holiday break somewhere, so that is not completely ruled out.

Since I am looking to keep them busy, out and about, their bikes and scooters are going to used a lot this summer holiday. We had the pleasure of receiving some bike helmets and gloves from the lovely people at Kiddimoto the other day. The kids love their new helmets and gloves, and I love them too.

VALENTINO ROSSI BICYCLE HELMET £42

This lovely helmet is for my son. I went for the 5+ size (MEDIUM: 53-58CM (AGE 5+)) and it suits him perfectly. The design is also so colourful and beautiful. Great for the summery weather.

OFFICIALLY LICENSED EVEL KNIEVEL CHILDREN’S HELMET £42

This stunning helmet is for my daughter and she adores the striking design. I got this in the medium size as well (53-58CM – AGE 5+), and it suits her perfectly with plenty to grow into. The last thing you would need is to have your kids wear small/uncomfortable helmets while riding their bikes or scooters. Apart from it being a pain to put on, it is also not safe when it is the wrong size.

KIDS BLACK CYCLING GLOVES £10.50

They both got these Kiddimoto Gloves to protect their little hands while riding. The gloves helps them stay comfortable and safe while out and about on their bikes. My son thinks he is Lightning McQueen when he is on his scooter, partly because he has a Lightning McQueen Scooter. So I have to keep up with him and make sure he is well dressed for the ride.

Have a lovely sunny day!

The Grass is not Always Greener

I came across the current news all over the internet, about a certain popular American Fashion Blogger – Shaniqua Jordan, being arrested and charged with credit card fraud! She was allegedly shopping with her customers credit cards (she has an online jewellery store); buying luxury fashion items of about $37,000, and showing them off on Instagram. Shaniqua Jordan is known for her love for high-end designer items and these items usually keep her fans increasing and followers talking.

I can see how Shaniqua Jordan would have been tempted to do what she has been accused of doing. As an insider, I see it everyday on social media and it is quite sad to see the amount of pressure many fashion bloggers put on themselves to look the part and it is really not worth the stress! Fashion Blogging isn’t all about styling expensive pieces. There is a lot more to it. I see many people walking around in expensive outfits that look horrid, so it’s not just about the price tag of what you wear.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love luxury items a lot. I like how real leather feels and smells. I love shopping in the high-end stores, and I love the quality high street stores as well. Give me Gucci, Givenchy, and all them big luxury brands any day, I would have them all if I could.

If I could afford a Birkin, I would have it. If I could afford a Rolex watch, I would go for it. But my reality today is that I can’t, and I am comfortable with what I can afford. I am happy to blog about what I can afford, and that is the key.

Many bloggers are not happy to show off what they can afford, and that is the main problem. They want to be like the “mega big bloggers” they follow online. So they end up having a massive debt in the name of fashion blogging, or steal to keep up with the fake online image. And this issue is not only in the blogging industry, it is a general problem. Too many people want all the flashy things but without the work.

I can imagine how anyone could be pressured to live a lie thanks to the power of social media, with the amazing shots, perfect spouses, well behaved children, beautiful house, many holidays and perfect outfits. It is easy to want these same things and there is no harm in wanting them as far as you are ready to earn them honestly. So if you want to go on more holidays or buy nicer things, start saving, if you want your house to look pretty, clean it more often, if you want to be able to afford luxury items, get a better paying job or increase your income streams. Be prepared to do what you can to elevate your lifestyle in an honest way.

Another point I would love to make is, when it comes to social media, especially Instagram (which seems to be notorious for showing off picture perfect lives), take all you see with a pinch of salt. Most of the time, it is not what or how it seems, so don’t be deceived. Instead, admire what you like, but always focus on your reality and own it! Believe me, life is too short to do anything else.

What do you think?
