Beauty Muse – Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey being a Beauty Muse should come as no surprise. I think she is a drop dead beauty, who doesn’t seem to age at all. If anything, she seems to look younger every time I spot a photo of her.

Mariah Carey is a flawless beauty! I know she has had plastic surgery done a couple of times, and that may explain her near perfect features. Whatever she did looks amazing, and I like the fact that she owns it.

You should all know how I feel about plastic surgery and general body enhancements. I have written a few times about cosmetic surgery on the blog. I have nothing against them, as long as they are done tastefully and safely, and as long as you own it!

I wrote about Mariah Carey’s ex -husband – Nick Cannon, some days ago, and how I am rooting for them to get back together. I really hope they do get back together, they look so good as a couple, and their twins are so cute!

Anyways, back to the Mariah Carey being a Beauty Muse; I have always wanted to know more about Mariah’s beauty regime and her beauty secrets if any. In my search, I came across her best beauty tips in one of her interviews with Vogue, which has now been bookmarked for future reference.

Here are some of her tips you may find interesting –

Less is more

“I hate mascara. I never wear it,” she has said. “Whenever a makeup artist tries to put it on me, I throw a fit.” A clear penchant for faux lashes notwithstanding, this means that “if you’re not wearing a lot of makeup, you don’t have to take a lot of it off. So, my goal is to wear the least amount of makeup possible so I don’t have to steam my face and take it all off.”

I can see how this is a great beauty secret. The more makeup we have on, the more time and energy will be required to take it off. And most times, our skin tends to hurt from all the makeup removing. Especially if the makeup is long lasting, which is all well and good until it is time to wipe it off.

No carbs, embrace cardio

You would hate my diet,” she has said. “All you eat is Norwegian salmon and capers. That’s it. I try to stick with the proteins. It’s the worst.”

Don’t eat salad if you’re about to do, like, a photo shoot, because it bloats you,” warns Carey. “Never eat the water.”

Now I understand why how she has an amazing figure. I wish I could live on eating proteins alone.

How to Get Rid of Sleep Lines

Who doesn’t like a nice long sleep? It has been scientifically proven that a good night’s rest is beneficial for our overall well-being, so we all need it. A good night sleep helps us feel alert, refreshed and puts us in a good mood. Adequate sleep also makes your skin look really healthy too, which is a great beauty plus.

But as good as sleep can be, it leaves behind sleep lines. This comes about as a result of sleeping on side with the side of your face on the pillow for several hours.

Sleep lines look a lot like wrinkles. If they are not attended to immediately they can be on the face for a long time, which can be annoying. Here are some tips you can try out straightaway, to leave the skin looking nice and smooth free from sleep lines.

  1. Slap the sleep lines from your face

This may sound funny, but slapping yourself actually gets rid of sleep lines. This is because as you slap yourself the blood starts flowing to the area where the sleep line is and starts to make your face looking nice and plump. This drastically reduces the sleep lines on your face.

  1. Fold your sleep lines outwards

When a sleep line appears it looks like a crevasse. There’s a depression in your skin and your skin doesn’t look smooth.

To get rid of the sleep lines, another effective method is to fold your skin where the sleep line is outwards. So instead of the crevasse from going deep in your skin it is pushed out. Make sure you don’t press so hard. All you are looking for is for your skin to even out.

Once you have folded your skin outwards, hold it there for a couple of minutes, then go to the next set of sleep lines.

  1. Pinch your sleep lines out

This tip is closely related to the folding your skin outwards, but the idea behind it is quite different. Pinching the area where the sleep lines are helps to activate the blood vessels. This will help blood to circulate around the area, which will help bring back the elasticity of your skin.

It may hurt a bit but you need to be extra careful not to pinch so hard. The last thing you want is a nasty bruise from all the pinching.

  1. Moisturize the sleep lines out of your face

Moisturizing is a great way to remove the sleep lines. When your skin has moisture, its elasticity is restored. Your skin looks rejuvenated. The water in the moisturizer hydrates the skin and your skin responds perfectly to this.

To increase the effectiveness of moisturizer for your sleep lines, try massaging the moisturizer into your skin. Gently massage your skin in circular motions. This will help awaken the blood vessels and promote proper circulation of blood to your face. This will also help create youthful glow in the process.

The Uses and Benefits of Essential Oils

Essential Oils have been used for so many years, in various countries, for medicinal and health purposes. They are very popular at the moment for various reasons. I know many people online who swear by them. They advise everyone to try a few essential oils in their home, before they decide on the ones that work best for their lifestyle. There are a few essential oils from New Directions Aromatics I have seen around and they look good.

Here are a few of the uses and benefits of some essential oils according to my research –

Keeps the home smelling amazing

Essential oils are useful for keeping the home smelling great. Diffusing lovely smelling oils, like clove, rosemary and orange essential oils will leave the home smelling amazing. Diffusing cinnamon essential oil also cleans the air which is brilliant!

Reduces anxiety

Some essential oils also help reduce anxiety. Diffusing lavender essential oil around your home or putting a few drops in your bath helps reduce feelings of depression, stress and tension. Diffusing lavender essential oil is the best way to end a stressful day.

Get rid of shoe smell

Essential oils are great for removing the funky smell from shoes. Just add a few drops of tea tree oil and lemon oil to your shoes to leave them smelling nice. This is one tip everyone should try.

Improves sleep

Lavender oil helps improve sleep. So if you are battling with insomnia, you might want to try this tip. All you need to do is to sprinkle a few drops on your pillow to help you drift away.

Moisturising

Essential oils are also great as a moisturizer. Mixing coconut oil, shea butter, magnesium oil and essential oils would create a great moisturizing body lotion.

I am yet to try essential oils but will write about my experience one I do.  Are you a fan of essential oils? Which is your favourite?

Please sound off in the comments section below. Thanks for reading.
